二、阅读理解
A Budget
It's useful to know how much money we usually spend on different things. Then, if we also know how much money we will have, we can decide which things we should buy now and which things we can go without or wait for.
Here is a student's weekly budget during the school year.
Bus fares to school $5 Movies $6
Candy/Gum $5 Soft drinks $3
School lunches $10 CDs $10
Restaurants $15 Computer games $10
Total:$64
This student has only $50 a week to spend. Therefore, he must spend less on some things or not have them at all. If he wants to save on bus fares, he can walk to class. If he doesn't buy any candy, he can save $5 a week. Or he can save $3 if he has no soft drinks. He can save money on lunches if he brings his own.
He may be able to save money on CDs by borrowing them from his friends or buying them second-hand. He doesn't have to go to the movies or restaurants.
Different people need or want different things, so their budgets are different. Girls may not like computer games. They may want to spend more money on clothes or jewelry (珠宝).
For most of us, a weekly budget is only a little helpful. We really need to have a monthly budget, or even a yearly budget. This is because we have to pay for some things only once a month or once a year. Clothes, textbooks, vacations, and so on are not weekly expenses. They are monthly or yearly expenses.
1.The student's budget is for .
A.seven days B.thirty days C.one term D.one year
2.If the student doesn't buy school lunches, he will save a month.
A.40 dollars B.64 dollars C.216 dollars D.256 dollars
3.“...he must spend less on some things or not have them at all.” The words “at all” mean .
A.with others B.little by little C.forever D.not even one
4.Girls may want to spend more money on .
A.computer games B.sports C.clothes D.toys
5.Using a monthly instead of a weekly budget, you can see .
A.less money
B.things you don't buy all the time
C.how prices change quickly
D.the best place to buy gum

One Possible Version:
My Pocket Money
My pocket money mainly comes from my parents. Sometimes my grandparents give me some. I often use it to buy some school things, like pens, exercise books and rulers. Once or twice, I buy some snacks. I think I have spent a lot on some unnecessary things these years, so I decide to manage my pocket money better.
I will divide my pocket money into three parts. The first part will be for my daily life. The second part will be used for the gifts to my parents, teachers and friends. It can be quite useful on festivals. I will save the third part for further study, so I will save it in the bank. I'm sure my future life will be more meaningful.Unit 8 第七课时 Oral Communication

With the development of the mobile internet and mobile payment, more and more children are not using paper money now.
A report shows 86% of people in China use mobile phones to pay. For many students, they seldom touch (触碰) the real money in their daily life. They may only do it when they get lucky money during the Spring Festival. When they need to buy something, they usually don't reach into their pockets for paper money. They use their digital (电子的) watches. As a result, many children ask their parents, “Why not keep money in the mobile phone or the watch ”
Hearing the question from their kids, a large number of parents start to worry. “Our children don't have a sense of money. For them, money is just numbers. They have no idea where money comes from or how difficult one makes money. This may cause big problems when they grow up,” one mother said.
To solve the problem, a few primary schools in some cities begin to give special math classes to teach students about money. During the lessons, teachers show all the paper money and coins to students and teach them the basic units, like “yuan” “jiao” and “fen”. What's more, the teachers ask the students to do simple calculations (计算): from “jiao” to “yuan” or from “yuan” to “fen”. Mr.Wang, a head teacher, said, “Most children know little about money, so we need to help them get to know it. It's a challenging job, but the classes will be helpful to them in the future.”

D.Because kids can't do simple money calculations.
5.What is the main idea of the last paragraph

三、阅读理解
Shells, coins and paper money are money in different forms. Some types of money are still being used for trading today.
Seashells People think the first form of money was seashells. Shells were used about 3,000 years ago in some East Asian countries, like China, and some countries in Africa. Shells were considered a good choice because they were easy to carry, similar in size and lasted a long time.
Coins Then, people developed skills for making metal things, and metal coins appeared. Metal coins were made of bronze (青铜), iron, gold or silver. The earliest metal coins were electrum coins from Lydia, which were used around 650 BC (公元前). Coins had different shapes. For example, in ancient China, people had daobi (knife coins), fangkongqian (round coins with a square hole in the center), etc.
Paper money The first known paper money appeared in China during the Song dynasty, which was called jiaozi. The paper was a promise to pay a certain amount of money. Six centuries later (in the 1600s), banks in Europe started to give out paper money. Paper money became common in almost all currencies (货币), and it is still widely used.

Suppose you had 15,000 yuan every year. How much of it would you spend And how much money would you save
Perhaps you should try the 50/30/20 method. 1. It tells you exactly how much to put towards your savings and how much to put towards your living costs.
According to the 50/30/20 method, you should divide your money into three groups: 50% for “needs”,30% for “wants”, and 20% for “savings”.
“Needs” refers to the bills that you must pay and the things necessary for everyday life.2. These are “must-haves”. If you have to spend more than 50% of your money on your “needs”, you may need to change your lifestyle. 3.
“Wants” refers to unnecessary costs. You choose to spend your money on these things, but you could live without them if you needed. 4. You can watch sports on TV instead of getting tickets to the game. You can continue using your three-year-old backpack.
Finally, you need to save 20% of your money every month. 5. You never know when you may lose your job or when an accident may take place.

四、阅读理解
Money can make you happy, only if you spend it in a clever way.
Buying a new car makes you happy. However, you will forget the feeling when the car gets old. But if you spend a week travelling, it's more possible that you'll remember the great experiences, and you'll remember the feeling for a long time. A new study has found that spending money on experiences makes people happier than on material things.
For material things, it's possible that you'll care about every little thing. If you buy a nice pen, and someone else buys one with less money, it's possible that you may be unhappy because you spend more money. When it comes to experiences like trips, you won't think like that. If the experience is generally good, you will be happy with the price.
Material things can be compared more easily. If you buy a bike and then see a more suitable one, you may regret (后悔) buying the first one. However, if you have a nice dinner at one restaurant, and then learn about another better restaurant, you'll not regret the first meal.
Material things can cause jealousy (嫉妒). For example, if you buy a new toy and find that your friend has a better toy, you'll feel unhappy. Instead, if you travel to a beautiful place, then no matter where your friends have gone, it won't make the memory of your trip less happy.
1.When will money make you happy
A.When you buy a car.
B.When you spend it in a clever way.
C.When you care about everything.
D.When you buy lots of material things.
2.What does the underlined word “material” in Paragraph 2 mean in Chinese
A.物质的 B.精神的 C.便宜的 D.昂贵的
3.What may you do if you buy a watch and then see a better one in a magazine
A.Buy the better one at once.
B.Regret buying the first one.
C.Ask for your money back from the shop.
D.Keep the first one and feel quite happy.
4.What may the text tell us
A.Material things may not cause jealousy.
B.People always regret buying material things.
C.People will have happy memories of wonderful travelling.
