The ebike has become an essential item, and even the King has been spotted riding one. According to the market research company Mintel, sales have almost tripled over the past five years. While ebikes have become increasingly commonplace, they are still undeniably expensive. You can pick up a perfectly adequate push bike for 300, but most ebikes cost nearly 2,000. Now, Cycling Electric, designed to help consumers choose an ebike, offers the following recommendations.
Best folding bike
Carbo Model X
Price: 2, 799 | Weight: 13.3kg
Range: up to 34 miles
This is one of the most convenient bikes, from a little-known label. The lightweight Carbo X is the perfect example of convenience thanks to its carbon frame and belt drive, instead of a metal bike chain. This makes it lighter and less likely to get messy than an electric Brompton, with its more traditional, oily chain.
Most stylish
Temple Cycles Classic
Price: from 2, 995 | Weight: 19kg
Range: up to 74 miles
This Bristol-based brand is known for its elegant pushbikes, which are hand-built in the city. This is its electric version. It’s a very sleek and functional commuter option and not too heavy. Temples have fewer proprietary (品牌专卖的) parts and so are serviceable in any bike shop. Stylish as they may be, the VanMoofs and the Cowboys can be a bit more complex to get back-up and service.
The money-no-object option
Riese & Müller Nevo4 GT Vario GX
Price: 5, 380 | Weight: 28.4kg
Range: up to 93 miles
This is a prime example of the attention to detail delivering a high-quality experience in functionality, comfort and practicality — if you can afford it. It has the capacity to handle 25kg of luggage in a pannier, powerful road lights and a beautifully smooth motor.

Cathy Brennan calmly paddled her bright yellow kayak (皮艇) down the Potomac River, continuing her voyage, the latest of her solo trips on major waterways. It was tough, but it allowed Brennan to let go of everything else, empty her brain of the everyday chores and focus on the now. “I’m in the moment, looking at the waves.” said Brennan.
The journey is a minimalist style: sleeping bag, small tent, rain jacket, change of clothes, first aid kit, apples and cheese sticks. When she’s thirsty, she scoops water from the rivers and pumps it through a filter. “I always drink the river,” she says. Brennan loves being on the rivers, seeing the bald eagles above, deer on the banks and a fascinating array of bugs and insects that never find their way into homes.
However, every few days Brennan will find a hotel for the night where she can get a shower and eat a cheeseburger. She’ll also check in with her husband John, who has helped her select the river and research the trips at their home. “He’s my virtual Sherpa with benefits,” Brennan says, laughing. She has a phone with her but rarely calls or texts anyone. Her children usually keep track of her via the transponder that sends them her location every 10minutes or so.
Brennan knows that solo kayaking is not for everyone and she’s not reckless. Brennan grew up on a lake and was a strong swimmer and boater from an early age. When going through rough rapids, she watches the weather carefully. She is cautious about where she camps and who is around her. She has packed up her gear and headed back out on the river when she has felt unsafe.
Surely, she is alone on these journeys but she isn’t lonely. She suggested that we all need some disconnection from the wired world to find the wider world around us.

Budweiser partnered with China Internet giant Tencent to conduct and publish a white paper titled “Are Parents Our Outsiders: Annual Survey on WeChat Timelines”. According to the survey, more than half of young Chinese people have blocked their parents from their social media networks, while most parents look forward to reading their children’s online posts.
Fearing that their parents will not be able to accept their new lifestyles and ambitions, the new generation of Chinese youths are increasingly hiding their lives and dreams away from their family members. They are afraid their lifestyles will be misread by their parents, so they choose to block their parents out of their social lives. In doing so, they fail to see how much effort parents can make to bridge the gap between different generations.
But at the same time, nearly 80 percent of parents said they were willing and ready to fully support their children’s life pursuits. The results of this survey revealed the misunderstanding and discrepancy between the
younger generations of Chinese people and their parents. So maybe now is the time for us to ask: shouldn’t we start inviting our parents back into our lives and show them our appreciation
“More and more young people are breaking the limits of tradition and bravely pursuing their dreams. They might fail, however, to notice that their parents are always supporting them, says Matt Che, marketing vice-president of Budweiser. “We can see the importance of cross-generational communication between parents and children. The love and care in Chinese families are the most valuable support we have on our journey to self-realization. I sincerely hope Chinese people everywhere can open their hearts and let their parents in. Show them your gratitude and appreciation. ”

Imagine a world in 2050 where cities are full of autonomous vehicles, AI-driven assistants (助 手 ) perfectly fit into our daily routines, and virtual landscapes coexist with reality. From technological advances to climate change impacts, the next few decades will undoubtedly reshape the structure of our existence.
In this new era, artificial intelligence and robotics will take center stage, transforming how we interact with our environment and one another. They will have evolved from mere tools to companions (同伴) that predict our needs and desires. The once-distant dream of having AI-driven personal assistants is now a reality, as they manage our schedules, handle our communications, and offer personalized recommendations with extraordinary accuracy.
However, as we fast-forward to 2050, one cannot help but think about the huge effects of climate change on our planet. At present, most of us are lacking the imagination of what daily life will be like when we have slashed our carbon emissions (碳排放), from our homes and food to travel and the landscapes around us. What follows is an attempt to show you how a day will look in a net zero greenhouse gas emissions world.
Edie Vaughan, a young girl in 2050, lives in Toronto, Canada, a place that is among the most popular destinations for its healthy climate and clean water resources. There are forests, and giant machines taking carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) out of the atmosphere. At that time, there are no office or industrial jobs anymore: artificial intelligence and robots have taken care of that. The few jobs left are in service, culture or health care. Luckily, Edie has her job. Every morning, she checks the balance in her Personal Carbon Allowance (PCA) account to see if she has enough to buy another battery for her e-bike. If she doesn’t have enough then she will have to buy carbon credits, and they are expensive.
This story of 2050 is one of hope and possibility — a reminder that while enjoying the convenience brought by technological progress, we should also be responsible for the environment.
12 .What does the author mainly discuss in paragraph 2
A .The advancement of autonomous vehicles.
· 高二英语 第 4 页 共 8 页

Secrets for shopping healthier at the supermarket

Look for a short ingredient list
When you find a packaged food with a long list of ingredients on the label, just put it back on the shelf and look for a simpler version ofthe food. 17 . Check the list of ingredients every time, because a shorter ingredient list equals fewer added sugars and preservatives (防腐剂).

19 .
If you feel like the food labels “natural” and “organic” can be exchanged, well that’s exactly what food companies want you to think. Although there’s no single set of requirements for products claiming to be natural, such labels are still supposed to be accurate. Farmers or food companies that use the “natural” label are not forced to be inspected as a condition ofusing the label.
Don’t get trapped by watery foods
Water is the magic ingredient in prepared foods, and if it’s first on the list of ingredients, it’s clear that there’s a long list of additives (添加剂) to follow 20 After all, soup does take a lot of water. Since oil and water don’t mix, it takes a bunch of additives to hold everything together.

Emily Harper sat at her desk, staring blankly at the math problems in front of her. Numbers and variables danced confusingly across the page, laughing at her every effort. At school, Emily was known for her artistic talents, but math had always been her weakness. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t make sense of it.
Her struggles only worsened in the 10th grade. The pressure to keep up with her classmates grew, and the poor grades shook her confidence. Her parents decided to step in. “We need to find you some help.” her mother gently suggested one evening.
Then came Mr. Jenkins, a retired local teacher known for his unique teaching style. Emily was initially resistant; the idea of spending extra hours on a subject she hated seemed like a punishment. But she unwillingly agreed, knowing something had to change.
Their first session was tense. Mr. Jenkins, sensing her frustration, didn’t dive straight into problems. Instead, he asked about her interests. When Emily spoke passionately about her painting, he smiled. “Math is like art, Emily. It has patterns and beauty if you know where to look.”
Doubtful but inspired, Emily listened as he began to explain concepts through visual examples. He used colors and shapes, turning abstract numbers into something almost tangible (有形的). For the first time, math seemed less like a foreign language and more like a puzzle waiting to be solved.
However, progress was slow. Weeks passed with minimal improvement, and Emily’s patience wore thin. A particularly difficult quiz left her in tears, convinced she was sure to fail.
Mr. Jenkins said. “Remember, Emily, every artist starts with a blank canvas, Masterpieces aren’t created overnight.”
Encouraged by his firm belief, Emily pushed on. She began to see the connections between the steps, and Mr. Jenkins celebrated every progress she made, no matter how minor it was.
(1)续写词数应为 150左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Gradually, Emily’s confidence grew with Mr. Jenkins’ help.
Emily’s heart raced when the results day arrived.
