3. Read a student’s book report and label the different parts with the information below.
My favourite book is The Old Man and the Sea. It was written
in 1952 by the American writer Ernest Hemingway. The book
became popular very quickly. In 1953, it won the Pulitzer Prize.
The main character is a fisherman who hasn’t caught anything
for months. One day he catches a huge fish, but he has to fight for
days to kill it. He finally succeeds, but he can’t pull the fish onto his
boat. When the fisherman is on his way back, sharks eat the fish,
leaving nothing but bones.
This book has taught me not to give up or doubt myself. I’m
inspired by how hard the fisherman fights, even though he loses the
fish in the end. As Hemingway said, “Man is not made for defeat.
A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” Even though I’ve
already read the book three times, I’m not tired of it yet. If you’ve
never read Ernest Hemingway, I recommend this book.

My favorite book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The English write J.K.rowing began to write it in June 1997. It has been widely loved by people and has been adapted into many movies. So, it’s very popular among both children and adults.
This book is about a boy named Harry Potter who finds out he’s a wizard(魔法师). On his 11th birthday, he receives a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry(霍格沃茨魔法学校). Harry enters a world full of magic and wonders, where he learns magic, makes friends, and discovers his connection to the evil Lord Voldemort(伏地魔).
I love this book because it's packed with magic and adventure, making me feel like I'm part of the story. Harry and his friends are very brave, and they never give up when facing challenges, which is really inspiring. If you enjoy stories about magic, adventure, and friendship, I highly recommend this book. It's not only fun to read but also teaches us about the importance of courage and friendship.
Have you ever heard of the Monkey King He is from my favourite book — Journey to the West. The book was written by Wu Cheng'en, and it's considered one of the greatest Chinese classic novels in China. Loved by people of all ages in China for hundreds of years, it has been the base of many TV dramas, films and plays .
This book tells a wonderful story. A kind monk named Xuanzang goes on a long trip to get sacred books. Three brave protectors help him along the way. They are Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing. They meet lots of dangerous monsters and difficult problems, but they never give up.
My favorite character is Sun Wukong. He is clever, brave and powerful. He can fly and change into different shapes. He always helps his friends and beats bad monsters. I learn a lot from him.
From this book, I learn many good lessons. Teamwork is very important. When friends work together, they can overcome all difficulties. Also, we should keep our dreams and never stop trying, no matter how hard things are.
I think Journey to the West is great. It is not only fun to read, but also meaningful. I believe you can also learn something from it. So if you've never read Journey to the West, I strongly recommend this book.

My favourite book is The Secret Garden. It was written in 1909 by
Frances Hodgson Burnett. The book became very popular and is
still one of the greatest books for children.
The main characters are Mary, Mr Craven (Colin’s father), Dickon,
and Colin. After her parents die, Mary goes to live at her uncle’s house.
One day, she finds the secret garden, which looks wild and overlooked
(被忽视的. With her friend Dickon, she makes the garden
beautiful again. Later, they meet the sick and unhappy Colin. Finally, with
the help of nature and friendship, both Mary and Colin become happier and
healthier.
This book has taught me to love nature and see how it can help us. I’m
inspired by the author’s description of nature. As Burnett said, “If you look the
right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” I’ve read the book
twice and still enjoy it. If you have never read anything by Frances Hodgson
Burnett, I recommend starting with this book.
