Do you know how to communicate with people who are experiencing bad emotions Sixteen years ago, I learned an important lesson from a taxi driver.
That day, I was in a taxi. We were driving on the right lane (车道) when all of a sudden, a black car jumped out. My taxi driver stepped on his brake (刹车) and the taxi made a very loud noise. Although our car stopped just in time, I was scared. But then the driver of the black car, who had almost caused a big accident, started shouting bad words at us. What surprised me more was that my taxi driver just smiled and waved (挥手) at the man kindly. So, I asked him why.
He explained that many people run around with anger, so they are like garbage trucks (垃圾车). As their garbage piles up, they need a place to throw it away. When someone wants to throw it at you, don’t take it personally. Instead, just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on: You’ll be happier because of what you did.
That really got me thinking: how often do I let garbage trucks run right over me And how often do I then take their garbage and throw it onto other people — at work, at home or in the street It was from that day that I made a decision, “I’m not going to do it anymore.”
Since then, whenever I see “garbage trucks”, I would just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.

When I was a little girl, my family lived in an old house near a river in the town. At that time, the river was the most terrible place in my memory. The water was black and smelly, because many factories poured waste water into it. People threw rubbish along the river bank. There were no trees or flowers, only dirty plastic bags and waste everywhere. I never played near the river, and my parents always told me to stay away from it.
Last summer, I came back to my hometown after 10 years away. I was completely shocked when I walked past the river. The black smelly water has gone. Instead, the river is clean and clear, with small fish swimming in it. The dirty river bank has become a beautiful riverside park. There are tall trees, colourful flowers and green grass everywhere. People walk along the river, children play on the grass, and some elderly people fish by the river.
I met my old neighbour Aunt Li there. She told me that the government started to clean the river 8 years ago. They closed the polluting (污染) factories along the river, cleaned up the waste, and planted lots of trees and flowers. They also set up rules to stop people from throwing rubbish into the river.
“Many people didn’t believe the river could become clean at first,” Aunt Li said. “But we all worked together. Now the river is our favourite place to relax. The changes are really amazing!”
I sat on a bench in the park, watching the peaceful river and the smiling people around me. I realized that the change of the river is not just about the environment. It shows that people have learned to respect and protect nature. And only by working together can we make our hometown a better place to live.

28.What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean
A.The river has become clean, but people still don’t like it.
B.The environmental change has also changed people’s ideas about nature.
C.The only thing that has changed is the look of the river.
D.People have learned that it’s impossible to change the nature.
29.Which of the following is NOT the government’s action to clean the river
A.Closing the polluting factories along the river.

Whenever the exam season comes, stress may come along. Here are some ways that have helped me and my friends go through this season.
When the stress of exams is really hitting me, I always choose to do sports. I usually borrow my neighbor’s dog and walk for about fifteen minutes. Many boys would simply choose to run for a while or play ball games. All these help drive away your stress easily most of the time.
And if you find music helpful, give it a go. Listening to your favorite songs will surely make you relaxed. The best thing is that you just need to stay where you are silently and enjoy it.
But if you are a book lover just like me, read a book you like for half an hour. Reading can take you to places you’ve never been to. Putting yourself into a new world helps you forget your stress in this world for a little bit.
For sure, there’s nothing better than laughing. It can really keep worries off your mind! Very often I call my best friend and we talk about our good times or something funny on the phone, and I’m feeling better because I laugh a lot.

Here are some suggestions. First, talk to your parents or friends when you are upset. Don’t keep bad feelings to yourself. Second, do sports, listen to music or read books to relax. If you follow these ways, you will be happier and healthier.
