In the world of reading, a bookmark is more than just a placeholder--it can be a piece of art and culture. This special set of three copper(铜) bookmarks, each shaped like a meaningful Chinese symbol, beautifully combines craftsmanship( 工 艺) with traditional wisdom.
The first bookmark is shaped like an ancient vase(花瓶),with bamboo leaves on it. In Chinese,"vase" sounds like "peace", and bamboo stands for strength and modesty, Together, they create a quiet wish for the reader: may your life be as calm and peaceful as bamboo in the wind.
The second one is designed as the character "fun", meaning good luck. But look closer--inside its beautiful lines are dozens of tiny "fu" characters in different calligraphy styles. This is called the " Hundred Fu" picture, a classic design to bring a lot of good luck. It turns the bookmark into a small wish for happiness.
The third one is made as the character "shu", which stands for both "book" and knowledge. Its clean, strong lines remind us of the beauty of Chinese calligraphy. When you put it between pages, it's not just marking your page-it's honoring the act of reading itself. It whispers: here lies knowledge, and here grows wisdom.
Made of warm, lasting copper, these bookmarks are all elegant(优雅的). They show a culture where writing is art, and art carries meaning. For students, they are gentle reminders of why we read-to find peace, to hope for good luck, and to discover ourselves. In a world of screens, they bring back the simple joy of holding a book.

How often do you talk to chatbots A few times a week Every day Most people use AI for everything now. It's really taking over. As AI chatbots become part of our daily lives, we need to learn to use them wisely.
Your voice matters. You have experiences, ideas and feelings that matter. You should feel proud to make your unique voice heard. A chatbot is an AI program, and it doesn't have living experiences. A bot creates its human-like responses by collecting examples of text from the internet, books and more. It basically learns to mimic(模仿) people.
"A chatbot is just a language-predicting machine. It's all math, " explains Brett Vogelsinger. He's an English teacher. He noticed that some of his students feel like their own writing can't live up to the smooth sentences and clever vocabulary of a chatbot. But Vogelsinger teaches his students that they can learn from those chatbots. What they shouldn't do, he says, is to feel discouraged or embarrassed about their own original( 原创的) writing. "What you're creating-even in its messinessmatters more than what a machine creates, "he says.
Watch out for made-up "facts". When an honest person doesn't know the answer to a question, he or she will say, "I don't know." However, you almost never see the AI saying, "I don't know." Bots tend to confidently answer every question, even if they have to invent the replies. For example, many people use chatbots to generate computer code. Experienced programmers can often notice the bots' errors and fix them. So the AI may still save their time. But if you know nothing about coding, you may fail to catch an important mistake. So if you're using a chatbot for something important or for something you don't have a lot of expertise in, you'd better be very, very careful.
All in all, while chatbots can be helpful in many ways, they can never take the place of human thinking. Treat a chatbot as a toy for fun.Don't miss out on thinking for yourself.
18. What is a chatbot according to the passage
A. A real person with feelings.
B. A machine that copies human language.
C. A robot that can think like humans.
D. A teacher that teaches writing.
19. Which of the following meanings is suitable for the underlined word "invent"
A. make up B. write down
C. point out D.learn from
20. Which of the following would the writer most probably agree with
A. Students should depend on chatbots for writing.
B. Chatbots can understand people's feelings well.
C. We must check AI's answers before using them.
D. Chatbots can take the place of human thinking.
21. What would be the best title for this passage
A. Ways to Improve Writing Skills
B. Advice on Using Chatbots Wisely
C. The History of AI Chatbots
D. How to Make Correct Computer Code

During that winter, the rest and the good food all helped to make me feel quite young again. When spring came, the farmer tried me with a carriage, and I did the work quite easily.

One day,the groom(马夫)cleaned and dressed me."I hope the ladies like himm,"said the farmer.

"His knees were broken once, " said the farmer. "It was probably a careless driver, and not the horse's fault at all. He seems very safe for me.If you like him,you can try him,"he said.
One of the ladies said, "You have always given us good advice about our horses, so we accept your offer to try him."

"I shall write to Mrs Gordon and tell her that her favourite horse has come to us, " said Miss Ellen. "How pleased she will be!"
I have now lived in this happy place for a whole year. My work is easy and pleasant, and I feel my strength coming back again.

When you wander along the street in Suzhou, you might notice a special "conversation" in small studios-not with voices, 44 with silk threads(线)-Suzhou Embroidery(Suxiu).
Unlike many old crafts that are 45 ( lock) away in museums, Suxiu " chats" with the modern world in its own unique way. In those quiet studios, a 46 (love) scene unfolds side by side: experienced grandmas sit by the window, their fingers dancing over silk cloth. They use thin silk threads to stitch(缝制) tiny things-a fluttering(振翼) butterfly, a cat. All of them look so real 47 they seem ready to come to life. Right beside 48 (they), young people aren't just copying the old skills; they're 49 (add) their own new ideas to Suxiu, making it shine in a new way.
These young 50 (design) never stick to boring traditional flowers or birds. Instead, they first draw cool patterns on the cloth: maybe pictures of Suzhou's old 51 (bridge)lit up by warm night lights, or even the cartoon characters we love. They use the same time-honored stitching methods, but create works that fit 52 (perfect) into our modern lives. We can spot these new Suxiu pieces everywhere-on our school bags, small phone cases and so on. They're no longer just expensive art; they've become daily items we can touch and use.
Suxiu is more than just embroidery. It's 53 special tool connecting the past and the present. When ancient skills meet young ideas, they can become cool and popular.

One night, something terrible happened to Delsy Hernandez's family. Delsy is a 14-year-old freshman at a high school in Tennessee. And that night, she became a real hero.
It was around 1:00 at night. Delsy woke up when she heard her mother screaming. She quickly ran into her parents' bedroom. To her great surprise, she saw her father shaking badly. Soon, he stopped breathing.
At that dangerous moment, everyone else was too nervous to know what to do. But Delsy remembered the CPR lessons she had taken just one month before. She was the only person who could help. Delsy was a little shocked, but she was not afraid. She kept calm and did chest compressions(胸部按压) for several minutes. At the same time, her family called 911 for help. She only thought about the steps her teacher had taught her.
Luckily, before the paramedics(护理人员) arrived, Delsy's father started breathing again. Now he is getting much better. He said this was the best Christmas gift he had ever received. He was so thankful to his brave daughter.
Delsy's teachers were very proud of her. They would share her story in later CPR classes to encourage more students. Her teacher Reid Kaufííman said it was wonderful to see a student use the skils in real life. Another teacher Brandon Avery said Delsy's courage showed that anyone could save a life.
From this unforgettable experience, Delsy hopes more students will take CPR classes. She wants everyone to understand: the skills learned in class might help save a valuable life one day.
54. What made Dely able to save her father at that dangerous moment
