Money can be passed from one person to another. It can buy things, pay for services, or sometimes it’s just a piece of paper. But a true story from a village in Sichuan tells us: there are more valuable things than money that can be passed between people.
Liu Guiying, a student from a poor family, had just received good news about her university admission (录取). Her retired primary school teacher, Fang Youze, heard this and went to visit her. He encouraged her to face the challenges ahead bravely. Before leaving, he took out 500 yuan from his own savings and gave it to her for her future study.
Deeply moved, Liu Guiying took a photo of the money and her teacher, sharing it online with a message of thanks. This simple act made the story spread widely. People were touched by the teacher’s selfless love and the student’s gratitude from the bottom of her heart.
The warmth of the story continued. The university that Liu was going to attend invited Mr Fang to the university to help her register (注册). Seeing his student start the new journey was the best gift for the teacher.
In his over 40 years as a teacher, Mr Fang has helped hundreds of students. The most beautiful part is that some of these students have now returned to their hometown and become teachers themselves. They are sharing not just knowledge, but more importantly, the same kindness they once received, just like a light passing from one candle to another.

B. He bought her some new books.
C. He gave her 500 yuan for her study.

26. What was the best gift for Mr Fang

C. Getting a thank-you message online.
27. What is the main idea of the passage

We often think humans are special because we can show many emotions (情绪). But bumblebees (大黄蜂) can do this too. They can feel happiness and even spread it to other bees.
In a study published in Science, a team of researchers discovered that good moods can spread, even among insects with brains smaller than a sesame seed (芝麻籽).
They gave one bee a surprise treat of sugar water. This made the bee feel happy and change how it acted. It became braver and more willing to land on different types of flowers. It also did this more quickly than before. Other bees nearby also began acting more cheerfully and bravely, even though they didn’t get any sugar water.
To make sure that the bees weren’t just copying each other, researchers used barriers (障碍物) to control how bees communicated. This way, only certain senses were allowed to come into play — like touch and sight — or none at all. They found that bees could spread happiness just by seeing each other. They didn’t need to touch or smell to catch the good feelings.
This ability is called emotional connection. It means feelings can spread among bees. One bee can understand and feel what another bee is feeling. Scientists used to think only animals with bigger brains could do this. Before this study, we didn’t know insects like bees could do this.
This discovery is important. It suggests that sharing emotions is not just for big-brained animals but a key part of social life itself. So, when you see a bee buzzing in the garden, it might be spreading more than just pollen (花粉) — it could be spreading joy!
28. What can we know about the bee after getting sugar water
A. It became slower. B. It became quieter. C. It became braver.
29. How do bees spread happiness according to the study
A. By seeing each other.
B. By smelling each other.
C. By touching each other.
30. What is the main purpose of the last paragraph
A. To introduce a new research topic.
B. To show the main idea of the text.
C. To encourage readers to protect bees.
31. Which part of a magazine may the passage be taken from

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题或翻译画线部分。
Our trip to China felt like a fantasy movie. I had read what people said online about trips to China before, yet our experience still surprised me.
Our first big surprise happened in Suzhou. Many people call Suzhou the “Venice of the East,” so I pictured a small town with quiet canals (运河). As soon as we stepped out of the railway station, we were shocked. Suzhou was so huge and modern! Tall glass buildings stood beside old waterways and wooden boats. It felt strange to see both a “village” and a “city” in one place. This contrast (对比) made us look at the city with fresh eyes.
Later, we saw an even stronger contrast in Beijing. Beijing hutongs showed the traditional side of the city. They were crowded and full of life. A short walk away, modern skyscrapers (摩天大楼) rose into the sky. Many hutongs are disappearing each year. How lucky we were to visit them!
After these surprises, we faced the language problem. Simple words like “toilet” or “passport” were not always understood. Translation apps became our closest friends. They helped most of the time, though sometimes the results were funny.
Still, we met people who spoke excellent English in the most unexpected moments. A stranger at the Summer Palace helped us during heavy rain. A young man in an Apple Store in Shanghai sounded like an English speaker. Sometimes, we almost forgot we were abroad. These moments showed a friendly side of China.
In the end, this trip gave us many stories to remember. As the saying goes, “Seeing is believing.” We enjoyed every moment, and we can’t wait to visit China again!
