1. 定义:祈使句是用来表示请求、命令、劝告或建议等语气的句子。它的主语多是第二人称you(通常省略)。祈使句一般是以动词原形开头的,句末用句号或感叹号,读时用降调。

  In ancient China, there was a special system called the “Imperial Examination”(科举). It started over 1,300 years ago during the Sui Dynasty and lasted until the early 20th century. This system allowed any man, rich or poor, to take exams and work for the government(政府) if he passed. It was like a big talent hunt for the country.
  Before the Imperial Examination, important government jobs usually went to people from rich families. But the examination system changed that. It tested(测试) students on classic Chinese books, poetry, and writing. The exams were very difficult and could last for several days. Students studied for years to prepare.
  The exams had different levels. Passing the highest level could make someone a “Jinshi”(进士), which was a great honour. They often got good jobs as officials and brought pride to their families and hometowns.
  This system was not perfect—only men could take the exams, and it tested students mostly on traditional texts instead of science or practical skills. However, it helped China choose talented people for centuries and influenced(影响) many other countries’ testing systems.
