In small towns, people are used to saying hello to their neighbors in stores, on the streets and in front of their homes. In today’s city life, people may feel uncomfortable talking to neighbors they don’t know well at the supermarket. However, greeting your neighbors is actually good for you, especially if you say hello to six people, according to a recent survey.
Saying hello to people increases well-being, but “six” is the magic number. The well-being score increases from zero to six and then there are no further increases. These results are from a survey. The survey was based on the answers from 4556 Americans. It covered social well-being, physical well-being, community well-being and more. People who said they didn’t say hello to anyone in their neighborhood scored 51.5. People who greeted six neighbors had a score of 64.1.
You might think that saying hello to neighbors is only about social well-being. In fact, regular (经常的) greetings also improve a person’s physical well-being and community well-being. That’s because all of these are connected. You will be more likely to speak to people if you think your community is safe. Your physical well-being can improve if you are getting out and walking around your neighborhood.
We don’t require that you know the person well; just stop and talk to him. But the more people you say hello to, the more likely you are to start a conversation.
While this is just a survey for now, saying hello regularly is a good way to improve your own wellbeing.
( )62. What does the writer show us in Paragraph 1
A. City people like talking to neighbors.

A. Know about our neighbors well.

C. Get out to improve our physical well-being.
D. Greet others even if we don’t know them well.
D 人多不一定力量大
We all enjoy being part of a group—there’s no better work than teamwork, right Actually, I disagree. Teamwork can be hard. In fact, it was so difficult that I left my office job and started working from home on my own, which is a much better fit for me. I began to think about why teamwork can make our jobs harder.
To start with, a special personality can make teamwork difficult. There’s often someone on the team that puts his or her personal needs first. He or she is often selfish (自私的). The team often goes along with several persons like this. Just one person like this can make teamwork hard. With several persons like this working together, it’s even harder.
Not having enough time together can also make teamwork challenging. For example, I was once on a team where we never had as much time as we needed to meet as a group. To successfully work as a team, you need time together.
A final reason why teamwork is difficult is that there’s often no training on how to work on a team. You can’t just get together in a room and expect to work well with each other. You need to build trust with your team members. Think of football players. They aren’t just given a ball and told to play. They practice and they train to play well together.
Teamwork can be hard, but working alone has its challenges, too. When my computer doesn’t work, I don’t have an IT person to turn to. When I have a great idea, I don’t have anyone to share it with to see if it is really a great one. Don’t get me wrong—I still like my team of one and enjoy making all of the important decisions myself. But now I realize what was wrong with the teamwork I did in the past. I also get to know how good teamwork could be if done correctly. So, one day I might want to turn my ME TEAM into a WE TEAM.
( )66. Why did the writer leave his office job
A. Because he needed a quiet working environment.
B. Because teamwork became challenging for him.
C. Because working alone could make the job easier.
D. Because working at home was very important.
( )67. Which word is close to the meaning of the underlined word “personality”
A. Skill. B. Habit. C. Hobby. D. Character.
( )68. How does the writer develop his idea in Paragraph 4
A. By listing the reason for teamwork training.
B. By giving an example of the football team.
C. By showing different ways of starting teamwork training.
D. By mentioning the difficulty of teamwork training.
( )69. What does the writer think of working alone
A. It has no challenges at all.
B. It is always better than teamwork.
C. It also has some disadvantages.
D. It is sometimes difficult but interesting.
( )70. What is the best title for the text
A. The Fun of Working Alone
B. How Teamwork Helps the Jobs
C. Why Teamwork Makes the Jobs Harder
D. Differences of Teamwork and Working Alone
第二节 阅读表达(共5 题; 每题2 分, 满分10 分)
阅读下面短文, 简略回答问题。
Have you heard of “soft skills” before To be honest, they’re abilities that are not taught in school. However, to be truly happy and successful, you need to develop soft skills. Here are some of them.
Understand the power of non-language communication. If you have watched a nature program, you’ve probably seen how some animals communicate. For example, a wolf can control its young just by using a different look in its eyes. While humans have the ability to speak, about 55% of our face-to-face communication actually takes place through body language.
Know how to make others laugh. I’m sure with your friends and family you have a great sense of humor. However, how about at work or when you meet strangers Break free, and add humor to your actions. Then your personal happiness will rise.
Respect others. Unfortunately, this soft skill seems to be going out of fashion at present. Too many people have become self-centered, and put their own hopes above the needs of other people. Please make sure you respect all those you come into contact with. Interestingly, by respecting others, you’ll find they respect you more in return.
Have persuasive (令人信服的) power. This isn’t some kind of superheroes’ power. It’s an ability that many people have developed. If you learn to communicate persuasively, you will go far.

If you look friendly, people will want to talk to you. So say hello to people with a smile. Second, use starters to start talking. Say something sweet such as “I like your coat.” or “Your coat is very nice.” Ask simple questions like “Who is your hero ” or “What is your favorite food ” Also, you can offer help by saying, “Do you need any help ” Third, listen carefully and nod. Show that you are interested in what people are saying. Keep the conversation going by asking another question about what they’ve told you.

第五部分 写作
81. 范文1:
Should we express our ideas directly or not
In daily communication, some people like to express their views directly, while others don’t. From my point of view, I firmly believe that expressing ideas indirectly is more beneficial for good communication.
For one thing, respecting others’ feelings is necessary, and the indirect expression is a great way to achieve this. For instance, when you are giving suggestions to friends, using the gentle language can make them more willing to accept.
For another, it helps avoid arguing with others. When we disagree with someone, an indirect way of putting forward our views can keep the conversation going smoothly.
In conclusion, I think the indirect expression is a wiser approach in interpersonal communication.
范文2:
Should we express our ideas directly or not
In daily communication, some people like to express their views directly, while others don’t. In my opinion, expressing ideas directly is a better choice in communication.
Firstly, it saves time. When we express our thoughts directly, there’s no need for others to guess, and problems can be solved quickly. For example, in a group project, directly stating our plans helps team members start working right away.
Secondly, it helps avoid misunderstandings. Clear and direct communication leaves no room for misunderstandings. People know exactly what we mean, which is beneficial for building good relationships.
Therefore, I think being direct in expressing ideas can make our communication more efficient.
