Do you want to work out to stay healthy The following are some home workouts you can try.
HIIT Workout
Interval training (HIIT) uses high-intensity exercises combined with short rest periods to maximize
calorie burn and cardiorespiratory (心肺的 ) fitness. There are two HIT circuits (循环训练 ) for different
people.
For beginners: start with 30 seconds of workout, followed by 30 seconds of rest.
For the advanced: do 45 seconds of workout and 15 seconds of rest.
Yoga
Yoga combines breathing techniques, meditation (冥想 ) and different poses designed to encourage
relaxation and reduce stress. Practicing yoga comes with many benefits for both mental and physical health. It
helps to reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality. Find a beginner workout and practice regularly, step by
step.

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to join a Hollywood film as an extra (群众演员) in Paris. I had
little idea of exactly what to expect before setting off. But I certainly wasn’t thinking that one of the biggest
advantages would be spending hours with other people without access to our phones.
On set, phones were locked away after makeup. Without screens, we faced something unusual: real
conversations. During long waits between scenes, people actually talked. An art student sketched tattoo ideas
for me; a Parisian actor shared her love for Vietnamese food; a Haitian man told stories of his childhood. We
played games, debated silly theories, and laughed freely. It felt like stepping into a world before smartphones
ruled our attention.
This experience made me realize how technology has changed us. Once technology did bring people
together, but gradually they grabbed and then destroyed our attention spans and left so many of us with
smartphone addiction; social media grabbed and destroyed our ability to share an informational environment.
And now AI threatens to grab and atrophy (使萎缩) our mental muscles entirely.
Yet, I see hope. I think we are at the beginning stages of a quite significant backlash to that. Teens are
choosing simple flip phones; people attend digital detox events; those stupid QR-code menus are swiftly
disappearing; three-and-a-half-hour long podcasts get millions of listens. We’re slowly fighting back against
endless distractions.
Years ago, I visited an art exhibit in Paris where the “art” was simply conversations with strangers. Like
that exhibit, life requires time and presence. On the film set, pretending in a fictional world ironically brought
us closer to what’s real — human conne高ct二ion英.语试题·第 1页(共 8页)
Though my acting role was small, those phone-free hours reminded me: true joy lies not in screens, but
in the messy, unpredictable moments we share

Sugar-free cookies, reduced-sugar cereal, sugar-free candy, diet soda... are these better for you Since
sugar became a taboo (禁忌) in the nutrition and wellness world, sugar-free food items and drinks have acted
as substitutes for once beloved sweet drinks and snacks. Claiming to be ZERO sugar means it is healthier,
better for diabetics, and helps you slim down... Right
Wrong. Sugar-free isn’t better for you. In fact, sugar-free is worse.
Sugar-free means that artificial sweeteners are used instead of real sugar. The problem: these
sweeteners do not come from natural sources and they can cause you more harm than good.
Let’s get into what these artificial sweeteners actually are. Sugar-free sugar sounds wrong and that’s
because there is no such thing as sugar-free sugar. Some of these sugar-free alternatives still contain sugar
and the ones that don’t contain sugar have chemicals your body often does not know how to process.
Most artificial sweeteners are a lot sweeter than sugar, so only a tiny amount is needed. That’s why they
can market sugar-free alternatives as “low-calorie” or “no-calorie”. It also means that you get no nutritional
value from consuming them, which is why many sugar-free substitutes are classified as “non-nutritive”.
These artificial sweeteners tend to hide under sneaky names. Actually, they are 200-600 times sweeter than
sugar.
When you eat sweet stuff, your body continues to desire it and, even though your body cannot
metabolize (代谢) these sugar-free alternatives, your brain does not know the difference. In turn, sugar-free
alternatives connect to weight gain and type 2 diabetes (糖尿病).
Artificial sweeteners also damage your gut’s ability to break down sugar, which impacts everything you
eat. In other words, your body doesn’t know how to handle artificial sweeteners because they have nothing
real to process.
高二英语试题·第 1页(共 8页)
A good rule of thumb: stay away from artificial sweeteners and look for non-sugar, natural sweeteners
like Stevia or date sugar. In the war against artificial sweeteners and real sugar, both lose. Satisfy your sweet
tooth with natural sugars that come from fruits and stay away from products claiming to be sugar-free or diet!
28.What can be learned about sugar-free products
A.They don’t taste sweet. B.They are more nutritious.
C.They help lose weight. D.They contain artificial sweeteners.
29.Why are sugar-free alternatives described as “low-calorie” or “no-calorie”
A.They won’t lead to weight gain. B.They are greener and healthier.
C.They are much to everyone’s taste. D.Small quantities of artificial sweeteners are used.
30.What do we know about artificial sweeteners
A.They present a bigger health risk. B.They can be easily broken down.
C.They are as sweet as sugar. D.They improve our ability to metabolize.
31.What is the author’s final conclusion
A.Real sugar is a better choice. B.Stay away from sugary products.
C.Choose sugar from natural sources. D.Sugar-free products are healthier.

It is widely acknowledged that crows are highly intelligent with cognitive abilities similar to those of 5-
to 7-year-old children. Past research shows that they can count to four and distinguish human voices and faces,
and some species can even create tools for future use. Lately, a special study has expanded this list further,
revealing that crows can recognize basic geometric features, such as side lengths, parallel lines, and right
angles, and tell apart shapes like stars, crescents, squares, and irregular four-sided figures.
With the purpose of testing the crows’ geometric skills, scientists showed two crows six shapes on a
digital screen and trained them to peck(啄) at the outlier—the shape that looked different from the rest.
When the birds chose correctly, they were rewarded with a tasty snack. At first, the researchers made the
outlier obvious, such as one flower among five crescents. As the birds got used to the task, the shapes became
more similar including squares and irregular four-sided figures. Despite the increasing difficulty, the crows
continued to identify the outlier correctly.
The shape recognition ability of crows remains a topic of interest for researchers. They suspect this
ability may help them with navigation as they fly around. The birds may have also developed this ability to
help them search for food or identify other individual crows—including potential mates—based on their
facial features. “All these abilities, at the end of the day, from a biological point of view, have evolved
because they provide a survival advantage or a reproductive advantage,” says study senior author Andreas
Nieder, a neurophysiologist at the University of Tübingen in Germany.
In the future, researchers hope to explore which areas of the birds’ brains are responsible for their
exceptional ability in geometry. Birds don’t have a cerebral cortex (大脑皮层)—at least, not in the same way
that humans do. But for us, that part of the brain is responsible for thinking and other complex functions.
Crows still have these abilities, so the researchers assume there must be something else going on inside their
heads. “Obviously, evolution found two different ways of giving rise to behaviorally flexible animals,”
Nieder says.
32.What does the recent study reveal about crows
A.They can draw simple figures with tools.
B.They can distinguish between basic shapes in geometry.
C.They can do easy math calculations.
D.They can recognize human voices a高n二d f英ac语es试. 题·第 1页(共 8页)
33.How did the researchers increase the difficulty of the shape-recognition task
A.By shortening the time for the crows to respond.
B.By presenting more familiar shapes on the screen.
C.By showing the figures with different colors.
D.By enhancing the similarity among the shapes.
34.What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A.The role of crows’ geometric potential in navigation.
B.Reasons for crows to evolve shape identification abilities.
C.Survival benefits of crows’ cognitive talents.
D.The advantages of crows’ food-searching skills over other birds.
35.What is the follow-up step for future study
A.Investigating crows’ brain areas related to geometric skills.
B.Comparing the cerebral cortex of humans and crows.
C.Exploring other complex functions of crows’ brains.
D.Studying the causes of crows’ flexible behaviors.

Poetry, with its rhythmic language and layered meanings, invites readers to explore emotions, ideas,
and beauty beyond the literal. To fully engage with a poem, consider these methods to deepen your
appreciation and understanding.
Read aloud for rhythm and sound
36 Read the poem aloud slowly. Notice the rhythm, rhymes, or repeating sounds. For example,
Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven uses a tense beat, while Langston Hughes’ Dreams has a gentle flow. Do they
sound cheerful, sad, or urgent The “music” of a poem often mirrors its mood.
37
Understanding a poem’s historical, cultural, or biographical context enriches interpretation. It will help
you a lot to find out when the poem was written or what the poet’s life was like. But don’t stress — even a
quick Google search can add meaning.
Accept confusion
Poems don’t always have one right explanation. 38 Maybe Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18 is both a love
poem and a joke about clichés (陈词滥调 ). Discuss with classmates — different views make poems more
interesting! Let uncertainty spark curiosity.
Connect the poem to your life
Let your emotions guide your understanding. If a line reminds you of a personal experience, write down
your thoughts or share them with a friend. 39 Poetry isn’t just about analysis — it’s about feeling and
imagination.
Appreciating poetry is both an art and a practice — requiring attention to form, context, and personal
reflection. As Eliot wrote, poetry “communicates before it is understood”, inviting us to return, rethink, and
rediscover its magic endlessly. 40
A.Poems are meant to be heard.
B.Learn the background of the poem.
C.Compare poems by different authors.
D.Poetry is alive when it speaks to you.
E.Practice memorizing your favorite l高ine二s.英语试题·第 1页(共 8页)

G.Grab a poem, read it aloud, and let yourself enjoy the magic of it.

My name is Shaquille O’Neal, but no, I am not the legendary basketball star everyone knows. My parents
are big basketball fans, so they named me after him, sparking my love-hate relationship with the name. We
share only our passion for basketball; he’s a tall, famous icon, while I’m a short boy who can barely dribble
(运球) the ball without dropping it.
Every Saturday, the Central District’s Boys and Girls Club sponsors league-play for all age groups. My
age group, 9 to 11, is the biggest. For years, I was always the last picked. “He’s too small!” Louis, a team
captain, would say coldly while my teammates laughed. I’d sit on the hard bench the whole game, then lie to
my dad about having fun, my heart aching to do my part for the team instead of just watching from the
sidelines.
Last November, I got to play, thanks to Thanksgiving trips and flu season. I tried to make up for my poor
skills by being really aggressive. I would always defend the biggest kid on the other team, and ended up with
a bloody nose.
The Boys and Girls Club has a great nurse’s room. I know because I spent more time in there than on the
court. The nurse was a Vietnamese lady, and because none of the kids could pronounce her name, they called
her Skimmy. Skimmy didn’t know anything about basketball or any other American sports, but she was nice
and had a pretty smile.
By my twelfth nosebleed, Skimmy was my friend. It was she who finally helped me become a better
player. “Mr. Shaq,” she said one Saturday, “I watch you play. You always get hurt. Why do you play that way
Why don’t you take advantage of what you are I watch you — you are fast. You are speedier than a meteor.

With the rapid rise of online news media, students now have easy access to a vast amount of
information anytime and anywhere. However, not all online news is reliable. Some reports may
contain false or contradictory information, which makes it challenging to tell truth from falsehood.
To deal with this situation, students should learn to be critical news readers. First, compare
different news sources to get a more complete picture of an event. Second, check the time when a
report was written, as facts may change over time. Third, avoid blindly trusting sensational
headlines and use your own discrimination.
By doing so, students can make informed decisions and avoid being misled by unreliable news.
What Skimmy had said made a lot of sense. Skimmy's simple words opened my eyes, reminding
me that my small size was not a weakness but a gift that gave me the speed no one else had.
Instead of fighting against bigger kids, I should use what I already had. So determined was I to
change my playing style that I spent every spare moment of the week practicing running drills and
quick footwork in the backyard. I ran until my legs burned, picturing myself darting past every
player on the court. By Friday night, I felt ready to show everyone a brand-new Shaq.
The next Saturday, I stepped onto the court with a different plan. Armed with a new strategy that
focused on speed rather than strength, I darted around the court like a flash, stealing the ball from
players who were twice my size. I no longer threw myself at the biggest kid or ended up in
Skimmy's nurse's room. What surprised everyone was that the boy who used to sit on the bench
the whole game had become the fastest and most useful player on the team. Louis, who once said I
was too small, patted me on the back and said, "Nice job, Shaq!" For the first time, I didn't have to
lie to my dad about having fun — I truly had the time of my life.
