The Weifang International Kite Festival takes place in April.Weifang is known as the
"World Capital of Kites"in China.This year,260 teams from 57 countries and regions took part in
the event.It is said that Mozi,an ancient Chinese scientist,6 a wooden"bird"that could fly
-the earliest kite.Later,during the Eastern Han Dynasty,paper-making7,and people began
to make kites out of paper.Since then,kite flying has become8much-loved outdoor activity
for the Chinese.To make a traditional kite,people use bamboo for the frame(and paste
paper onto it.Then they tie a long string and add ribbons()9 decoration.Today,while
keeping traditional features,people use modern ways to make plenty of10 kites.At the 43rd
festival,over 2,370 kites amazed visitors-from a giant "roujiamo"(Chinese burger)to a
105-meter-long Great Wall kite-setting a new Guinness World Record.
