hold的多种含义：
拿着；握住；托住
例：She is holding a phone in her hand.（她手里正拿着电话。）
举办；举行（活动 / 会议）
例：The school holds a sports meeting every year.（学校每年举办一次运动会。）
容纳；装得下
例：This box holds all my books.（这个盒子装得下我所有的书。）

hold的常用短语：
hold on：稍等（电话）；坚持住
例：Hold on, I’m coming.（稍等，我马上来。）
hold up：举起

hold on to：坚持；保留（梦想/物品）

somebody： （不定代词） 某人；有人

Could I... ：我能/可以…… 吗？
语气比“Can I... ”更委婉、礼貌，用于请求许可、提出委婉请求（打电话、借东西、求助等）。could 是情态动词，后面必须接动词原形，不受人称和数影响。
肯定回答（同意）：Yes, you can. / Sure. / Of course.
否定回答（拒绝，委婉）：Sorry, you can’t./I’m afraid not.
例：—Could I open the window, please （我可以打开窗户吗？）
—Of course.（当然。）
message
message： n. 消息；口信；信息
常用搭配：
take a message (for sb.) ：（替某人）捎口信 / 传话
例：Please take a message for my mom.（请帮我给妈妈捎个口信。）
leave a message：留口信 / 留言
例：Please leave a message for our teacher.（请给我们老师留一条口信。）
send a message to sb.：给某人发消息
例：I will send a message to my best friend.（我会给我最好的朋友发消息。）
