Dear editor,
I’m glad to share my design for a relaxing corner in our classroom.
To create a cozy space, I plan to set up a wooden shelf in the quiet corner of our classroom. We will place various magazines, light reading books and several green potted plants on it. Besides, two soft cushions will be prepared for students to rest comfortably.
This small corner serves as a perfect spot for us to relax during breaks. Facing heavy study pressure, we can calm down our mood by reading or enjoying the fresh plants. It can not only relieve our tiredness effectively but also help us refresh ourselves for further study. I believe it will bring great benefits to all classmates.

Leo gathered his close friends immediately and shared his plan. He intended to put on small guitar performances at the Fall Fair to raise money for repairing his guitar. Knowing how precious the old guitar was to Leo, his friends were all willing to give him a hand. They worked together to prepare simple posters and small handmade gifts overnight. The next day, they set up a quiet corner at the fair. Leo played soft, beautiful melodies tirelessly, while his friends warmly introduced their activity to passers-by, attracting many kind people to stop and donate.
By the end of the day, they’d raised exactly enough money to repair the guitar. Leo was filled with gratitude for his selfless friends and generous strangers. He sent the guitar for professional repair at once. Several days later, the treasured guitar returned in perfect condition. Back at the Harmony Center, Leo played “You Are My Sunshine” again for the kids. The sweet music filled the room, bringing bright smiles to every child. Leo truly understood his grandfather’s words that positivity and kindness can always turn troubles into warm surprises.山东聊城市2026届高考模拟试题英语(三)

In the past I have worked with Google Sheets to produce graphs using trial and error and consulting Help. I learned a bunch! Yesterday I used Gemini to produce a much more complex graph-I got the graph I wanted and more-but I learned nothing. I don’t know what it did to get the graph and it didn’t show me how to create it myself using the graphing tools that Sheets supplies. Fortunately I’m solving problems in the physical world that AI won’t help with (until I get a robot).
As a (retired) IT pro, AI has made me a very lazy programmer. It does the heavy lift and research... then I need to clean up the code... if I bother.
Totally not surprised. But then I’m anti-AI in general. I prefer to figure it out myself because I’m a fan of accuracy.
That said, AI assistants are a bit of a two edged sword. They make capable people “stupid”... but they could be a huge help to people that have executive function issues, be it severe ADHD or some of the more advanced cognitive impairments. I think my 82 year old mother could really benefit from having an assistant that was easy to use in order to do some of the things I do for her like making doctors appointments and keeping her daily schedule.
1. Why did JHUBERMAN say “learned nothing” when using Gemini
A. Gemini failed to produce the needed graph.
B. Gemini didn’t tell about the graph-producing process.
C. The graph Gemini made was too simple to learn from.
D. All the problems were solved in physical world.
2. What does 3STEPS probably agree with regarding AI
A. It has made people lazier. B. It can make the disabled smarter.
C. It is beneficial to people of advanced age. D. It can write precise code.
3. What is the source of this text
A. A research paper on AI in programming.
B. A personal blog post about AI tools.
C. A product review of Google Gemini.
D. An online comment section about AI.

I remembered sitting in a bathtub (浴缸) playing while my mother ironed for others nearby. When I grew up, my mother told me that only when I was placed in the bathtub could she be available to hurry and finish her work, and that if she didn’t carry me outside for a walk at night, my crying would keep our neighbors awake. These simple words revealed the hardships of being a mother and her deep love for her son.
Even after I became a household name in the film industry, my mother still insisted on working. She preferred her old worn-out bag to the new one I bought for her and kept all the money I gave her untouched.
After retirement, she developed Alzheimer’s (阿尔茨海默病), a disease I knew nothing about. Her health had been declining steadily. Slowly, she forgot many things and people, until she forgot me and passed away. Decades later, when I stepped into my old age, I accepted a challenging role of an Alzheimer’s patient. I hoped that in this way, I could draw closer to my mother in my memories once again.
When preparing for the role, I stayed at a nursing home caring for Alzheimer’s patients to experience their daily lives. There I realized the terrifying aspect: Each patient exhibits different symptoms, and behind every symptom lies a long and unique life that person has lived. The joys, sorrows, regrets, and attractions in their own stories eventually break into fragments of memory, until everything turns completely blank.
By playing the role, I hope to foster greater public understanding of this condition. When we encounter Alzheimer’s patients, we can interact with them appropriately. Such understanding can encourage better community care, stronger support for medical research and services, and ultimately help them live each day with a higher quality of life.

A. To know about a disease well. B. To polish acting through practice.
C. To reconnect with his mother. D. To earn money to cure his mother.
6. What did the author find about Alzheimer’s patients
A. Symptoms reveal their unique lives. B. They show identical symptoms.
C. They require constant medical care. D. Happy memories accompany them.
7. What can we learn from the author’s story
A. Lost time is never found again. B. Time heals all wounds.
C. Memory fades, love spreads. D. Where there is love, there is a home.

Conventional wisdom holds that transitioning from oil to plant-based biofuels (生物燃料) carries numerous green advantages. For many people, since such fuels are obtained from agricultural crops, they are naturally renewable. And our own farmers typically produce them domestically, reducing our dependence on unstable foreign sources of oil. Additionally, they cause less pollution than traditional fuels. They also do not have much of contribution of greenhouse gases to the global climate change problem.
Despite the upsides, however, experts point out that a total shift from gas to biofuels, given the number of gas-only cars already on the road and the lack of biofuel filling equipment, would take some time.
Another major obstacle to widespread adoption of biofuels is the challenge of growing enough crops to meet demand — something doubters say might well require turning just about all of the world’s remaining forests and open spaces into agricultural land. “Replacing only 5 percent of the nation’s diesel (柴油) consumption with biodiesel would require applying approximately 60 percent of today’s soy (大豆) crops to biodiesel production,” says Matthew Brown, an energy consultant and former energy program director at the National Conference of State Legislatures. “That’s bad news for tofu lovers.” Of course, soy is now much more likely to be grown as an industrial product than as a food ingredient!
There is no simple, immediate solution to freeing ourselves from traditional fuels and the future will likely see a combination of sources — from wind and ocean currents to hydrogen, solar and, yes, some crops used for biofuels. The “elephant in the living room” that people often pay no attention to when considering energy options, however, is the clear hard reality that we must reduce our consumption, not just replace it with something else. Indeed, conservation is probably the largest single “alternative fuel” available to us.
8. What is the focus of conventional wisdom concerning biofuels
A. Their numerous sources. B. Their domestic production.
C. Their widespread adoption. D. Their environmental benefits.
9. What do Matthew Brown’s words imply
A. Soy is more valuable as fuel than as food.
B. Tofu lovers will have to reduce their consumption.
C. Biodiesel requires less soy than expected.
D. Biofuel production might threaten food supply.
10. What does the underlined part “elephant in the living room” in the last paragraph mean
A. An accessible and valued option. B. A huge but insignificant object.
C. An obvious but ignored issue. D. A time-consuming and hard task.
11. Which can be the suitable title of the text
A. Biofuels: A Promising Future B. Biofuels: Not a Quick Fix
C. The True Cost of Going Green D. The Battle Between Soy and Oil
D
In X-Men, Warren Worthington III sprouts huge white wings from his back and shoots into the sky. Scientists have yet to fully turn the comic book gift from fiction into fact, but virtual reality is offering hints of what it’s like to learn to fly.
Researchers officially reported on May 7, 2026 in Cell Reports that after systematic training with virtual wings, people’s brains react to the virtual wings just as they do to real arms and legs, gradually making these unreal wings feel like a natural part of their own bodies. This groundbreaking study, led by a team of cognitive neuroscientists from Peking University and Beijing Normal University, was actually inspired by one researcher’s long-held childhood dream of flying freely in the sky.
In the carefully designed experiment, 25 subjects took a week-long structured VR flight training. Wearing professional VR headsets and motion-tracking devices, they controlled giant virtual rust-colored wings by swinging their arms and rotating their wrists, completing a series of challenging tasks such as chasing floating airballs, flying steadily over steep cliffs and accurately passing through hanging air rings. After the whole training, professional brain tests showed that their brains’ visual cortex (皮层), the key region that processes body part images, became much more active when seeing various wings, and its response pattern was highly similar to that of real human limbs (肢体).
Cognitive neuroscientist Jane Aspell of Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, England stated that this is an intriguing study that nicely demonstrates the plasticity of the human brain. “If the brain can incorporate (把……并入) something as unhuman as a wing, it may also be able to incorporate many other kinds of limb enhancements.”
Beyond reshaping brain activity, this immersive VR flight experience also deepens people’s intuitive understanding of flying in a way that boring theoretical knowledge never can. As VR technology gradually becomes a part of daily life, researchers will keep exploring its long-term influence on the human brain, bringing more innovative technological possibilities to future medical treatment and daily life.
12. What can we learn from the first two paragraphs
A. The scene in X-Men has turned into a reality.
B. Brains perceive virtual wings as real after training.
C. Virtual reality is teaching us how to fly.
D. Research is rooted in childhood’s dream.
13. What did subjects do during the experiment
A. They controlled the wings using both hands and feet.
B. They completed different tasks in a virtual environment.
C. They compared their own limbs with the virtual wings.
D. They designed the tasks under the researchers’ guidance.
14. What does the underlined word “plasticity” in Paragraph 4 probably mean
A. The brain’s ability to change and adapt.
B. The speed of brain’s response to signals.
C. The size of the brain’s visual cortex.
D. The way the brain controls body movements.
15. How is the text organized
A. Background → Reasons → Procedure → Predictions → Solution.
B. Introduction → Procedure → Findings → Doubts → Conclusion.
C. Background → Findings → Examples → Arguments → Result.
D. Introduction → Findings → Procedure → Comments → Conclusion.

Leo adjusted his worn backpack as he walked through the lively halls of Maple Creek High, exchanging warm greetings with classmates on his way to class. At sixteen, he balanced academics, a part-time job at a local grocery store, and his true passion: music.
For three years, he had helped every Saturday at the Harmony Center, a community space where he taught guitar basics to children. His own guitar, an old but incredibly precious instrument passed down from his grandfather, was more than wood and strings — it was a piece of his family’s history and his connection to others. Between classes, he often shared stories from the Center with his close friends, who admired his dedication and cheerful spirit.
One pleasant fall afternoon, as golden leaves danced outside the Center’s windows, Leo led a group of eager children through the musical notes of “You Are My Sunshine.” Midway through the song, a sharp noise echoed (回响) in the room. The guitar’s bridge had split, so it was unplayable. The children’s faces fell, but Leo’s warm smile never disappeared. “Don’t worry, team,” he said. “This just means we’ll have to make our own sunshine while we fix it.”
He knew a professional repair was expensive. Still, Leo refused to feel discouraged. That evening, sitting at his desk, he recalled his grandfather’s favorite saying: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” He stared at the poster for the annual Maple Creek Fall Fair, which would be held the next day. The fair was a beloved local tradition featuring homemade crafts, live performances and food stands. An idea began to form — a way to combine his love for music with the community’s spirit of generosity. It required more than just his own two hands, and he knew just who to ask for help.
