Words and stories were easy for me, but numbers seemed like a different language. My father patiently used pencils to show me problems. However, my mind always focused on the stories behind the numbers. Although he tried to help, he sometimes became frustrated. His critical words about my math skills slowly made me anxious and less confident. In school, my problems increased. A geometry (几何) teacher’s sharp words and my low grades seemed to prove my fears were true. My mother found a tutor, a college student. Even his clear explanations left my mind soon after he was gone. What stayed was a strong fear of math, a feeling many people now call “math anxiety”.Yet life continued. I got married, raised three sons, and had a teaching career. When I chose to work for a doctoral degree in education, I knew I would need statistics. This time, however, I dealt with it differently. I was not that unsure young girl anymore. I asked for help, joined weekend study groups, and did not let my old fears control me. When the professor asked if I had questions, I smiled and said yes — without feeling shy.Looking back, I understand the strongest limits were never really mine; they were the echoes (回响) of other people’s doubts that I had let grow inside me. I did not become a medical doctor, but I earned a doctorate in a field I love. I managed to be a mother, a teacher, and a graduate student at the same time. This was not because I was naturally excellent at everything, but because I learned to believe in my own ability to learn and improve. Now that I am older, I see that every challenge helped form who I am. If I could talk to my younger self, I would kindly tell her to trust her own voice earlier. Yet I regret nothing — every step, even the hard ones, led me to a life full of deep satisfaction and happiness.24. What caused the author to find learning math challenging A. Lack of parental support. B. Inability to know any concepts.C. Feelings of unease and insecurity. D. Poor teaching methods at school.25. What does the author intend to express in paragraph 3 A. Her transformation of attitude and methods.B. The importance of a supportive professor.C. The necessity for weekend study periods.D. Her successful marriage and family life.26. What helped the author succeed in multiple roles A. Natural talent. B. An easier career path.C. Complete independence. D. Self-belief in learning.27. What is the author’s attitude towards her past struggles now A. Regretful. B. Grateful. C. Worried. D. Excited.CConsumers rely on various ways to pay daily expenses. The problem is that they tend to spend more with cashless payment methods in comparison to cash. This striking cashless effect has recently been confirmed by researchers from the University of Adelaide.Led by PhD Student Lachlan Schomburgk, the research team analysed 71 published and unpublished studies from 17 countries, including data from more than 11,000 unique participants. They’ve found that cashless payments lead people to spend more on status-signalling goods like jewellery, while this effect is notably absent in acts of donation or tipping.“Through this meta-analysis, we identified key factors that make the cashless effect stronger or weaker, which individual studies could not find. By doing this, we uncovered new key understandings that had often been overlooked by other researchers in individual studies.” Schomburgk explains. The findings indicate that consumers should be mindful of how they pay for goods or services, as this helps them spend less, especially critical in the current cost-of-living crisis. To avoid overspending, they’re advised to carry cash instead of cards whenever possible as a self-control method. When using cash, they count and hand over notes and coins, making spending more noticeable. If nothing is physically handed over, it’s easy to lose track of how much is spent. The study also provides useful insights for businesses and policymakers. “Businesses should know failing to accept the cashless revolution might unintentionally be jeopardising profit potential,” Schomburgk says. “And policymakers should communicate to individuals unfamiliar with cashless payments, such as people who don’t have bank accounts, about the possibility of cashless methods to lead to overspending.”Schomburgk stresses a need for urgent in-depth studies of new payment methods, as research on their specific impacts remains limited due to their novelty. Studying these methods is vital to keep pace with the evolving payment ecosystem and deepen understanding of modern consumers’ spending habits.28. What has the study found about the cashless effect A. It exists in acts of donation. B. It weakens with more cash use.C. It works in specific consumption. D. It links to the living cost crisis.29. Why did the team adopt the meta-analysis A. To break the limitations of single studies. B. To confirm factors causing the effect.C. To solve the overspending problem. D. To compare cash and cashless payments.30. What does the underlined word “jeopardising” in Paragraph 5 mean A. Preserving. B. Risking C. Shifting. D. Boosting.31. What can be inferred about new payments according to Schomburgk A. They need to be popularized. B. They should be further studied.C. They are developing rapidly. D. They will affect spending habits.DOver the last 1,400 years, populations of the Yangtze finless porpoise (江豚) have dramatically declined in China. But intensive surveys of its range only span the last couple of decades, leaving lots of gaps in scientists’ knowledge of the species. In a creative blend of art and science, a new study uses historical poetry to chart the critically endangered animal’s population across the river it calls home. The finless porpoises once lived throughout the entire Yangtze River, which stretches from the Tibetan Plateau to the East China Sea. Now, the only known freshwater porpoise in the world has fewer than 1,800 individuals left in the wild. The research team combed through databases of Chinese poetry to find references to the porpoise and map its past distribution. They found 724 poems that mentioned the animal, of which half noted where the porpoises were observed. Their findings were published in Current Biology.“Having access to past data allows us to detect when declines began and correlate those changes with potential threats like habitat destruction, climate change, overhunting, disease or the introduction of invasive species,” says lead author Zhang Yaoyao, an ecologist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The poems suggest the porpoise’s range has decreased by 65% since the Tang dynasty. Most of that decline happened in the river’s tributaries and lakes, where the animal’s range has decreased by 91%. While the population decrease was mostly gradual, the sharpest decline has occurred over the past 100 years. That sudden drop is consistent with human activities on the river, especially dam construction in the 1950s that blocked off the porpoise’s movement to and from the river’s main channel. The work highlights the connection between culture and science. “Poems are actually ancient citizen science, and many Chinese poets were ‘well-educated intellectuals’,” says Zhang. “These data are not perfect... But they do have a lot of information if you use them correctly.” This approach has potential for uncovering the pasts of other endangered species as well. Previously, scholars have used medieval and ancient texts to understand things like volcanic eruptions, auroras (极光) and unusual whales.32. What challenge do scientists face in their research about the porpoise A. Its population has dropped off dramatically.B. Locating its habitats is increasingly difficult.C. Its population is hard to calculate precisely.D. The long-term historical data are insufficient.33. What mainly contributed to the dramatic fall of the porpoise’s populations A. Climate changes over time. B. Human impacts on its habitats.C. Poor resistance to diseases. D. Competition with other species.34. Why does the author mention “volcanic eruptions” in the last paragraph A. To show major threats to endangered wildlife.B. To prove the value of ancient texts in research.C. To reveal the wisdom of ancient Chinese poets.D. To introduce challenges in ecological research.35. What can be a suitable title for the text A. Historical Poems: Records of Ancient Chinese WildlifeB. Citizen Science: A New Approach to Protecting AnimalsC. Ancient Poetry: A Creative Way to Study Endangered PorpoiseD. Every morning, she scattered (抛撒) seeds into her backyard and whispered, “Hello, my little friends!” To her, their singing sounded like cheerful laughter, and she often laughed along with them. However, her neighbor, Mr. Green, didn’t share her joy. He was constantly annoyed by the birds that flew into his yard. “They’re too noisy!” he complained. “And they make such a mess in MY yard!” His sharp words made Mary feel quite upset, yet she refused to give up on her feathered friends. She firmly believed that every small creature deserved care. One morning, Mary discovered a small sparrow (麻雀) shaking under the fence. One of its wings looked bent at a painful angle. Filled with worry, Mary gently picked it up and named it Lira. She placed it in a small, warm basket in a safe corner right next to the fence.A week passed. Lira was getting better but still unable to fly. One afternoon, while Mary was feeding Lira by the fence, Mr. Green shouted from his side, “You’re just asking for trouble!” Jane helped Lira up in her hands so Mr. Green could see it through the fence. “Look, Mr. Green. Lira’s wing is hurt.” Mr. Green cast an impatient glance at the tiny creature. For a moment, his frown softened. “That wing...” he said softly, almost to himself.Just then, Mary’s mother called her from the driveway, saying they were leaving for a family visit. Mary waved a quick goodbye to Lira and hurried to the car. However, on their way home, a heavy storm broke out. Watching the trees shaking in the strong wind, Mary felt very worried about Lira, which was left all alone in the yard. The moment they got home, she dashed toward the backyard, calling Lira’s name.注意:(1)续写词数应为150左右;(2)请按如下格式作答。To her horror, the basket was empty. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Mary climbed over the fence and saw Mr. Green kneeling (跪) on the ground.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________22025—2026学年第二学期适应性练习 高二英语答案听力1-5 CBACC 6-10 BCCCB 11-15 CBBAC 16-20 ACBCC阅读理解21-23 CDD 24-27 CADB 28-31 CABB 32-35 DBBC七选五36-40 CDFEG完形填空41-45 ACCAD 46-50 BCADB 51-55 DCABB语法填空56. which bined 58. with 59. further 60. advanced61. holding 62. a 63. despite 64. was presented 65. innovation应用文【参考范文】Hello, everyone! The fierce wind had turned it over, and Lira was nowhere to be seen. Mary’s heart pounded as she searched every corner of the yard — under the bushes, behind the flowerpots, along the fence. Rain soaked her clothes, but she didn’t care. “Lira! Where are you ” she cried, her voice shaking. Tears mixed with raindrops on her cheeks. She blamed herself for leaving the little sparrow alone in such terrible weather. Just as despair began to sink in, she heard a weak chirp from the other side of the fence.Paragraph 2:Mary climbed over the fence and saw Mr. Green kneeling on the ground. He was carefully wrapping something in an old towel. “The basket blew into my yard,” he said softly, looking up. “Found her under the bush, almost drowned.” In his big, rough hands lay Lira, trembling but alive. Mary’s eyes widened in surprise. Mr. Green handed her the bird gently, adding, “It’s stronger than it looks.” For the first time, Mary saw kindness in his eyes. The storm was fading, and the gap between them seemed to heal, just like Lira’s wing. Text 1M: I can’t believe how hot it is.
