A篇 (12分)
阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
In 1928, Alexander Fleming, a Scottish scientist, returned to his messy laboratory after a vacation. He noticed something unusual. A mould (霉菌) had grown on a bacteria culture dish he had left out. Around the mould, the bacteria had been killed. Fleming had accidentally discovered penicillin, the world’s first antibiotic (抗生素).
This discovery changed medicine forever. Before penicillin, a simple infection from a cut could kill a person. Doctors had no way to stop bacteria once they entered the body. Penicillin became a lifesaver during World War II, treating infected wounds and saving thousands of soldiers.
However, Fleming did not work alone. Ten years later, two other scientists, Howard Florey and Ernst Chain, figured out how to produce penicillin in large quantities. They also developed it into a medicine that could be given to patients. For their work, all three scientists shared the Nobel Prize in 1945.
Today, we face a new problem: antibiotic resistance (耐药性). Because antibiotics have been used too often, some bacteria have learned to survive them. Scientists are now racing to discover new antibiotics. Fleming himself warned about this danger in his Nobel Prize speech. He said, “The thoughtless person playing with penicillin treatment is morally responsible for the death of the man who finally succumbs to (死于) an infection resistant to penicillin.”

3. What did Florey and Chain contribute to the discovery of penicillin
A. They first noticed the mould on the dish.
B. They won the Nobel Prize alone.
C. They found a way to mass-produce penicillin.
D. They named the new medicine “penicillin”.
4. What is the new problem mentioned in the last paragraph
A. Penicillin is too expensive for poor people.
B. Some bacteria are no longer killed by antibiotics.
C. Scientists have stopped researching antibiotics.
D. Fleming’s warning was ignored by everyone.
5. The underlined phrase “playing with” in the last paragraph probably means ______.
A. using carelessly

Money cannot buy happiness, but learning to manage it can certainly reduce stress. Many teenagers receive pocket money or earn cash by doing ___1___ at home. The key is not how much you have, but how you use it.
One useful method is the 50-30-20 rule. This ___2___ suggests that you spend 50% of your money on things you need, such as school supplies or bus fare. Then, you can use 30% for things you want, like a new video game or a movie ticket. The ___3___ 20% should go into savings. This helps you prepare for the future or unexpected expenses.
However, many young people find it hard to ___4___ this rule. They see something they want and buy it immediately. This is called impulse buying (冲动消费). To avoid this, try waiting for 24 hours before making a purchase. Often, the ___5___ to buy will disappear.
Being responsible with money also means understanding the ___6___ between “needs” and “wants”. A new phone might feel like a need, but if your old one still works, it is actually a want. Learning these skills early will help you become more ___7___ when you grow up. After all, good money habits start young.

回答问题。阅读下面短文,然后根据短文内容回答问题。
Have you ever received a gift that made you feel truly special Often, the most valuable presents are not the most expensive ones. A handmade card, a carefully chosen book, or even just a few hours of someone’s time can mean more than a costly item.
Psychologists have studied this phenomenon. They found that people feel more connected to gifts that show effort and thoughtfulness. A handmade gift tells the receiver, “I spent time thinking about you.” This creates a stronger emotional bond than simply buying something from a store. In contrast, expensive gifts can sometimes create pressure. The receiver might feel they have to give something equally costly in return.
This does not mean you should never buy presents. A well-chosen store-bought gift can also be thoughtful if it shows you know the person’s interests. The key is the intention behind the gift, not the price tag. A small book by your friend’s favorite author can be more meaningful than an expensive but generic gift card. So next time you need to give a gift, remember: thoughtfulness matters more than money.
1. According to the passage, what kind of gift makes people feel more connected

2. What negative feeling might an expensive gift create for the receiver

The most important invention in my eyes
In my eyes, the most important invention is not a smartphone or the Internet. It is the simple water filter (滤水器). Clean drinking water is essential for life, but millions of people around the world still lack access to it. Water filters can remove bacteria and harmful substances, turning dirty water into safe, drinkable water. This simple invention has saved countless lives, especially children, from waterborne diseases. Unlike high-tech inventions that require electricity or the Internet, a water filter can work in the most remote villages. That is why I believe it is truly the greatest invention.
