Years ago, I lived in a building in a large city. The building next door was only a few feet away from mine. There was a woman who lived there. I often saw her sit by her window each afternoon, reading or writing.
Several months later, I began to notice that her window was dirty. Everything was unclear through the dirty window. I would say to myself, "I wonder why that woman doesn't wash her window. It really looks terrible. "
One bright morning I decided to clean my building, including washing the window on the inside. Late in the afternoon when I finished the cleaning, I sat down by the window with a cup of coffee for a rest. What a surprise! Across from me, the woman was sitting by her window — and her window was clean! I could see everything clearly.
Then it dawned on me, I was criticizing (批评) her dirty window, but all the time I was watching hers through my own dirty window.
That was quite an important lesson for me. How often did I look at and criticize others through the dirty window of my heart and my own problems
Since then, whenever I wanted to judge someone, I asked myself first, "Am I looking at him or her through my own dirty window " Then I try to clean the window of my own world so that I may see the world more clearly.
26. Why couldn't the writer see anything clearly through the window
A. Because the woman's window was dirty. B. Because the writer's window was dirty.
C. Because the woman lived far away. D. Because the writer had problems with eyes.
27. Which is the right order of the following
① I began to notice that her window was dirty.
② I found that her window was actually clean.
③ I could see the woman read or write each afternoon.
④ I washed the window of my building on the inside.
A. ①→②→③→④ B. ③→①→④→②
C. ③→②→④→① D. ②→①→③→④
28. What does the underlined sentence "Then it dawned on me. " in Paragraph 4 probably mean
A. Then I began to understand it. B. Then it cheered me up.
C. Then I knew it got light. D. Then it began to get dark.
29. We can infer from the passage that______.
A. The woman didn't care about her living environment.
B. The writer felt bad after knowing the truth.
C. The writer often had fights with his neighbor.
D. The woman knew the writer watched her every day.
30. What can we learn from the text
A. One shouldn't criticize others very often.
B. One should often make his windows clean.
C. One should judge himself before he judges others.
D. One shouldn't look at others' windows.
D
One day, when you buy something online from another country, it might arrive in just a few hours—by rocket. Experts believe that using rockets to transport (运输) online shopping packages (包裹) could help make more money for space research and development. In 2024 alone, China transported 174. 5billion packages—more than 124 for every person in the country, said China Daily.
On May 29 last year, Sepoch, a Chinese company in Beijing, successfully tested sending over 20 kilograms of packages using a rocket, reported by Xinhua. The rocket flew for 125 seconds before landing in the sea near Shandong province, and workers picked it up. Sepoch said the rocket was in great shape after the test.
This was a big step in developing rocket transport. The technology could greatly change global transportation, because rockets can travel halfway around the world in just 60 or 90 minutes, according to The Space Review.
The amazing speed comes from something called "gravity assist (重力助推)", said Nautilus magazine. When the rocket goes up into space, Earth's gravity tries to pull it back down. Scientists can use this pull like a slingshot (弹弓) to make the rocket go faster with little energy when it heads back to Earth.
Right now, the technology is too expensive for everyday use. _____▲____, making reusable rockets with stainless steel (不锈钢) can help solve the problem, experts at Sepoch told Xinhua.
31. What does Sepoch's test show
A. Rockets may help send online shopping packages.
B. More workers are needed to collect packages.
C. Cities along the sea are important for transportation
D. Rockets still have problems landing in some areas.
32. What role does Earth's gravity play in rocket transport
A. It provides energy for the rocket. B. It helps the rocket go faster.
C. It helps the rocket fly higher. D. It makes the rocket stick to its way.
33. Which is the best word for "____▲_______" in Paragraph 5
A. As a result B. For example C. Lastly D. However
34. Why do experts want to use stainless steel to make rockets
A. To make them lighter. B. To take less pressure.
C. To make them cheaper to use. D. To keep them cool before take-off.
35. What can we know from the passage
A. Space technology will make online shopping difficult.
B. China's rocket industry is more developed than other countries.
C. Rocket transport can support the space industry.
D. Online shopping is the most popular in China.

Many people enjoy running in their free time. Running is a good exercise, but some people seldom run. They often say, "Running hurts the knees. " They believe running will cause arthritis(关节炎), making it hard for them to walk when they get old. But is that true
Well, the truth is that running isn't bad for your knees if you do it in the right way. In fact, it can keep your knees strong and healthy. A study shows that runners have fewer knee problems than walkers. Why Running helps build up the muscles and cartilage(软骨) around your knee joints (关节). Walking is easier on the knees, but it can't exercise the muscles and joints as well as running.
Another study on marathon (马拉松) runners found that after the race, their knee cartilage became stronger. They had a smaller chance of developing arthritis than those who never ran at all.
In fact, running itself isn't bad for our knees. However, the wrong ways can cause problems. First, run with bad form. Taking too big steps or letting your knees bend inward (向内弯曲) are both bad for your knees. Second, overuse the knees. Running too long or too fast each time can cause knee problems. Third, run on hard ground.
But don't worry. To protect your knees while running, you just need to train in a smart way. Small changes to our running habits can make a big difference.
Is Running Bad for Your Knees
