01 春分·二月二龙抬头 万物新生 鸿运当头
March 20, 2026 is a special day in China. It is both the Vernal Equinox and the Dragon Head-Raising Day, falling on the second day of the second lunar month. On the Vernal Equinox(春分), day and night are almost equal in length. After that, the weather gets warmer, plants grow quickly, and farmers are busy with spring plowing. People have fun customs like standing eggs upright, eating spring vegetables and flying kites.
The Dragon Head-Raising Day is a meaningful traditional festival. Its name comes from ancient astronomy, when the "dragon head" star rises from the horizon. People have lovely traditions: many get a haircut to avoid bad luck in the first lunar month, and eat special foods named after dragons—dumplings as "dragon ears", noodles as "dragon whiskers" and spring pancakes as "dragon scales". Some places also "lead the dragon into the house" to pray for rain and good harvests.
This year, the two festivals coincide, which is a rare chance. It reminds us that spring has arrived. We can enjoy the warm days and wish for a healthy, prosperous new year. It also shows ancient Chinese people’s wisdom and love for nature.

02 两会宣布中小学春秋假,你期待吗?
In 2026, the "spring and autumn holidays" for primary and secondary school students became a hot topic at the Two Sessions. The government will support qualified areas to pilot these short holidays, while carrying out a staggered paid leave system for workers. Provinces like Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Sichuan have already tested the policy with good experiences, aiming to let families travel in off-peak seasons and boost local consumption.
These holidays bring great benefits to students. They can reduce study pressure after long learning periods and keep students healthy both physically and mentally. With mild weather, students can step out of classrooms to take part in practical activities, such as farming experiences, nature observation and local cultural learning. This helps turn textbook knowledge into real-life experience and creates a win-win situation for education and society.
However, there are still challenges. Many working parents can’t look after their children during the holidays. To solve this problem, schools now offer childcare services with colorful activities, and local communities provide more programs. The holidays can also be set flexibly according to local conditions. In short, these holidays are an important educational innovation, helping students grow in a healthier and more meaningful way.

04孙颖莎演讲《奋斗是青春最亮丽的底色》
Sun Yingsha is not only a top table tennis player, but also a hard-working college student. For her, dreams are the brightest color of youth.

05 Robot Beats Human Half-Marathon Record: A Historic Race
机器人打破人类半马纪录:一场历史性的比赛
On the morning of April 19, 2026, an extraordinary race took place in Beijing. About 12,000 human runners and over 300 humanoid robots started together from the same line at the 2026 Beijing E-Town Half Marathon. It was the world’s first half marathon that allowed humans and biped robots to race on the same course.
When the first robot crossed the finish line, history was made. The winner was "Lightning," a robot made by Chinese company Honor. It finished the 21-kilometer race in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. That was nearly seven minutes faster than the human half marathon world record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds. In other words, a robot beat the best human runner on the planet.
However, the race was not as simple as it seemed. The first robot to cross the finish line was not the real winner. That robot was remote-controlled and finished in 48 minutes and 19 seconds—more than two minutes faster than "Lightning." So why didn’t it win According to the rules, remote-controlled robots had their times multiplied by 1.2. After this change, its time became about 57 minutes. "Lightning," which ran completely on its own, kept its 50-minute time. The rules were made to encourage robots that can think and move by themselves.
The progress from last year was even more amazing. In the first humanoid robot half marathon in 2025, the winner took 2 hours, 40 minutes and 42 seconds to finish—more than three times slower than this year’s winner. Back then, most robots needed human engineers to run beside them with computers. Only six out of twenty teams finished the race. This year, nearly 40 percent of the over 100 teams raced on their own. They used sensors and cameras to find their way.
Why does this matter The race was not just about winning. Experts say that making robots run long distances in real-world conditions—with slopes, sharp turns, and bumpy ground—helps solve key problems. These include battery life, heat control, and quick decision-making. These are the same skills robots will need to work in factories, help at home, or take part in disaster rescue. In short, a robot that can finish a marathon is one step closer to being truly useful in our daily lives.
