"On the first day of 2024, I saw the snows of Kilimanjaro (乞力马扎罗山)," said Xu Zhuoyuan, a 17-year-old climber from Hunan.
Xu climbed to the top of the tallest mountain in Africa on 1 January. She even stood on the top of Mount Qomolangma last May, making her the youngest Chinese girl to climb to the top of the world's highest mountain from the southern side.
Xu's climbing journey began on a family trip to Xizang and Sichuan four years ago. Passing by Mount Siguniang in Sichuan, she felt amazed by its beauty and decided to try climbing it. She fell in love with mountain climbing right then and there.
For the next few years, Xu did hard training. She went to the mountains in Yunnan and Sichuan every month, climbing mountains over 5,000 metres and doing daily physical exercise like running, swimming and rope skipping. All that hard work helped her face the big challenges on Mount Qomolangma and Kilimanjaro.
Above 4,000 metres on Mount Kilimanjaro, the weather conditions are similar to those of a desert. The whole climb took seven days, during which Xu faced changeable weather such as rain and strong winds. Staying warm as well as avoiding heat loss was the main challenge.

① PUA means “Pick-up Artist”. It started for people who used clever ways to influence their interactions (交流) with others, especially between lovers. This idea develops, and now it also means people use tricks to control others in the workplace (工作场所) and online. It’s very helpful to know about PUA because it can deeply influence how you feel about your self-improvement. Here are some common actions to be careful of.
② Sometimes people who use PUA tricks criticize a lot. One of the tricks is that they might tell you that you’re always doing things wrong. It is just a way to make you feel sorry about yourself instead of helping you improve. They may also try to make you stay away from your friends and family. This makes you depend on them, and gives them more control over you.
③ Another trick is called gaslighting(煤气灯效应). For example, you remember something clearly, but they keep saying it didn’t happen. They hope you aren’t sure what you know is true.
④ To avoid PUA, there are several steps you can take. First, learn to tell what healthy friendships and relationships look like. Being confident is also important because it will not be so easy for others to trick you. Besides, you shouldn’t be scared to say no when something feels wrong. What’s more, talking to someone you trust like a teacher can be very useful.
⑤ Knowing these signs and what to do with them can help you have better relationships. It’s like building a strong foundation (基础) for happy and healthy relationships as you get older.
26. Which of the following sentences shows the underlined word “criticize”
A. “If you have any problems, you can ask me for help.”
B. “Sorry, it didn’t happen. I think you didn’t remember well.”
C. “You are always making mistakes! What you do is wrong!”
D. “Keep away from your friend, or you will become a bad student too.”
27. What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about
A. Steps to use PUA to control others.
B. Reasons for why students can’t use PUA.
C. Ways to build a healthy relationship.
D. Advice on how to avoid PUA.
28. What is TRUE about PUA
A. PUA only happens between lovers.
B. People may use PUA to control others in workplace and online.
C. PUA can help you have better relationships when you get older.
D. PUA will influence what other people think of you.
29. Which of the following shows the structure of the text
30.What is the best title for the passage
