As air pollution and waste problems become worse across the world, more scientists are developing smart green technology to protect our planet. This is no longer a distant science-fiction dream, but a practical way to create a greener future for human beings.
Many modern cities have started to use green technology in daily public life. Special smart street lights can collect solar energy in the daytime and offer light for streets at night. Besides, they can check air quality and tell people about pollution changes in pared with traditional public equipment, they save a lot of energy and cause no pollution.
Another great green invention is the smart waste management system. With smart sensing devices, public bins can tell different kinds of waste apart by themselves. They press rubbish into smaller sizes to save space and send related data to the city’s environmental management center. This new technology makes waste sorting much easier and greatly improves environmental protection work.
Technology helps us protect the environment, but people’s awareness and actions are more important. Though green technology offers us useful methods to protect nature, it cannot solve all environmental problems on its own. As middle school students, we should develop good daily habits. Small actions such as saving power and using less plastic can greatly protect our home planet.

Teenagers can do nothing to protect the environment.
( )27.What is the main idea of the passage

People need more science-fiction dreams in the future.
Traditional public equipment causes no pollution.
C
Many students look forward to the spring vacation, because it gives us a short rest from busy schoolwork. Some students love traveling to big cities, others prefer to relax at home. However, I spent my spring vacation in a simple but meaningful way.
I did not travel to any famous places this vacation. Instead, I went back to my grandparents’ home in the countryside. Spring brings new life to the village. Green plants and colorful flowers are everywhere. Warm sunshine makes the whole place fresh and lively.
I helped my grandparents do some easy farm work. I watered young vegetables, pulled out weeds and picked fresh vegetables. At first, I felt a little tired and wanted to stop. But when I saw the tidy fields and green plants, I felt proud and happy. I learned that people can get nothing without hard work, and every harvest came from hard work.
I also enjoyed the quiet spring mornings in the countryside. I listened to birds singing and watched beautiful butterflies. I put down my phone and enjoyed the nice spring views. This helped me relax and reduce my study pressure.
In my opinion, a great vacation is not about expensive trips or endless fun. It should bring us new feelings and growth. This spring vacation taught me to love nature and value hard work. It has become my most precious memory of spring.

Since May 17, 2026, heavy rainstorms have hit 36 counties in 8 cities of Hunan Province, including Changde, Xiangxi and Zhangjiajie. Some towns have seen rainfall(降雨量) over 300 millimeters, breaking historical records. Rivers like the Lishui, Zishui and Yuanshui have risen quickly, with the highest water level increasing by 12 meters.
A local official from the Hunan Provincial Water Resources Department said that while the main rivers and Dongting Lake are now stable, flash floods (山洪) areas have become the top concern. “Flash floods in narrow valleys rise and fall very fast, which makes them hard to predict and control. People living in these areas must pay close attention to early warnings,” he added.
Flash floods usually happen when heavy rain falls on high mountains with steep slopes(陡坡). The water runs down quickly, carrying rocks and mud, and can destroy roads, bridges and houses in minutes. To stay safe, people should move to higher ground as soon as they hear flood warnings, and avoid crossing flooded roads or bridges.
When did the heavy rainstorms hit Hunan
Are the main rivers and Dongting Lake stable now
Why are flash floods difficult to predict and control
What should people do first when they hear flood warnings
将短文中划线的句子翻译成中文。

Dear Mike,
I’m so glad to hear from you. I would like to share some basic Chinese table manners with you. As a part of our traditional culture, these dining customs help us show our politeness and respect.
There are some simple rules in our daily life. First, we usually let elders eat first. It’s the best way to show our respect to the old. Second, we are supposed to eat quietly instead of making loud noises. Third, we never pick food casually from the shared dishes.
Good table manners not only make us polite students, but also keep our traditional customs alive. If you have a chance, welcome to China and experience our dining culture!
I hope my advice can help you.
Yours,
Li Hua
