Are you planning to take your pet on a long trip On April 8, China Railway Express said that pet owners can now bring their cats or dogs on the same train.
To use this service (服务), pet owners must book tickets at least two days before their trip through the 12306 app. The pet must be a healthy cat or dog. And it must weigh less than 15 kilograms. What’s more, it must be no taller than 40 centimeters at the shoulder. An animal quarantine certificate (动物检疫证书) is also needed.
During the journey, pets are kept in special containers in a separate part of the train, and a railway worker will give water to them. This service is offered on 10 train routes.
The company said that this service meets the increasing need for pet-friendly travel. The 2025 China Pet Industry White Paper shows that 18.7 percent of pet owners spent money on pet travel in 2024, a 4.9 percent increase from 2023.
Many pet owners welcome the service. Wang Shanshan, 27, is one of them. Three years ago, when moving from Wuhan to Beijing, Wang traveled by car with her cat because pets are not allowed on planes and trains. “If such a pet-friendly train service were offered at that time,” she said, “it would have been much faster.”
But there are still some worries. Qin Peixuan, 24, worries about air quality in the closed cabinet (封闭的柜子). She also said that keeping different animals together might not be a good idea. For example, a dog’s barking may make cats feel afraid.
While the service still needs to be improved, it shows a change towards more user-friendly railways. In the future, we may see more services like this to help meet the increasing need in the market. Railways will become a bigger part of daily life, not just a way to travel.
47.How does the writer start the article to lead in her topic
A. By asking a question. B. By giving an example.
C. By listing numbers. D. By introducing a study.
48.To use the pet-friendly train service, how many rules should we follow
A. 2. B. 3. C. 4. D. 5.
49.Why does the writer give Wang Shanshan’s example
A. To show that this pet-friendly train service comes too late.
B. To show that people don’t like this pet-friendly train service.
C. To show that pet lovers quite like this pet-friendly train service.
D. To show that people also have some worries about this service.
50.What can we infer from the last two paragraphs
A. Qin Peixuan isn’t happy with this service at all.
B. This pet-friendly train service isn’t worth taking.
C. Qin Peixuan will take her pet on a trip by train in the near future.
D. People will see more user-friendly services on railways in the future.
