More heat waves may increase the number of heat-related deaths by up to 2,800. Exposure to higher levels of UV light (紫外线) could cause an extra 5,000 deaths a year from skin cancer and may cause worsening of an extra 200,000 cases of eye diseases. Warmer summers may cause up to 10,000 extra cases of food poisoning each year.
Higher average global temperatures mean that diseases, or their carriers, may be able to move to areas that were previously too cold for them to survive. It is possible that a mild type of malaria (疟疾) will become established in some parts of the world and be a recurring threat for four months each year. Globally, because of more floods, more droughts, and insect storms, which in turn are an increase in flooding which would promote the spread of waterborne diseases, and droughts which would favor wild wildfires. Scientists have been studying the relationship between the outbreak of a severe disease and weather patterns. They believe that rare climate patterns may become the outcome of climate change.
Climate change will have several influences on the world population. Those living in poor and developing countries are going to be less able to adjust. Health influences are not likely to be limited to the human population—wildlife would also be severely affected.
28. What can stop some diseases from spreading widely according to the text

I was walking outside one day but May, when my youngest,11-year-old Nathan, came running into the house. Shouting, he found a large puddle in their driveway after a thunderstorm.“I dried my hands and followed him to a large puddle in our driveway.“They’re tadpoles!”I bent down for a closer look. There were hundreds of tadpoles swimming around.
The next few days, Nathan kept his eye on the tadpoles. One afternoon he asked if he could use my phone to check the weather. “The puddle is drying up, and it’s not supposed to rain this week,” he said. “We have to do something or the tadpoles will die.”
“What can we do ” I asked, hesitant about where this might lead.
“I’m going to move them into the pond where they’ll be safe. But there are so many tadpoles. Can you help ”
I had things to do...I started to say, but the look on Nathan’s face stopped me. This was important to him. I grabbed one cup and followed him. After just a few trips, the puddle was almost out of water but still very full of tadpoles.
I went back inside and grabbed two plastic spoons. We went next to the puddle, caught the tadpoles with the spoons and put them in the plastic cups. When the cups were full, we transferred the tadpoles into the pond.
After two hours, there were three dozens of tadpoles to be rescued. I was hot and tired. Too late. “I thought they’d be safe here,” I closed my mouth, hoping Nathan hadn’t noticed. Too late. “I thought they’d be safe here,” he said, fighting tears. I tried to explain that things like that happens in nature, but he wouldn’t listen.
He ran back into the house and grabbed an old fishbowl.
“The tadpoles have legs!” Nathan burst into my bedroom , shouting three weeks later.

He ran back into the house and grabbed an old fishbowl. He filled it with clean pond water and carefully collected the leftover tadpoles into the bowl. Determined to take care of them personally, he placed the fishbowl by his bedroom window and fed the little creatures every day after school. Though exhausted from the rescue failure before, he never regretted his choice to save the remaining lives.
“The tadpoles have legs!” Nathan burst into my bedroom , shouting three weeks later. I hurried to his room and spotted tiny legs growing on the tadpoles. Day by day, they gradually turned into little frogs. Later Nathan released all these frogs into the school pond happily. This unforgettable experience taught both of us that small kindness can bring great surprises to life.
