On April 19, 2025, Beijing held the world’s first half-marathon (21km) (半程马拉松) for humanoid robots. This special event showed China’s leading role in robot technology. Twenty robots joined in, but only six finished. The winner, “Tiangong”, was 1.8 meters tall and finished in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Scientists used this race to test how robots work in real places like streets, not only in labs.
Beyond competitions, these robots now solve real problems across China. For example, a power line robot can work in very hot or cold places (-40°C to 80°C) where humans cannot go safely. DeepSeek is an AI company started by Liang Wenfeng in 2023. His dream was to make AI help everyone, especially children in faraway areas. Many students there used to have difficulty with their studies—they often spent hours on one math problem without help and had few chances to practice English writing because there were not enough good teachers. Now, DeepSeek’s AI tools are changing this situation: students can get quick study help at any time, from explaining math steps to clearing up English grammar rules.
What makes DeepSeek special First, it is open-source (开放性资源), so schools in poor areas can use its tools for free. Second, it is cheap, bringing AI to more users—even families with little money can pay for its low-cost services. Third, its smart models can solve difficult problems, from math exercises to English writing.
DeepSeek is popular in many schools and helps school teachers with their work. Teachers use the AI Homework Checker to check homework quickly. It has become a useful tool for teaching and learning. Besides, in May 2025, DeepSeek added a new function: it can work with cars. This lets drivers use AI to control cars more safely and efficiently, such as warning them of sudden road dangers. It shows how technology improves people’s lives in different ways.
