“Honesty is the best personality,” said Frank. He never lied to his schoolmates.
“Your freckles(雀斑)make you look strange, and they remind me of the Big Dipper(北斗七星),” Frank told Dotty. Dotty pulled down her hat over her face.
“Your singing is kind of scary,” Frank said to Carol. Carol cried and ran away.
Dotty and Carol found their teacher, so the teacher called Frank’s mom.
“You wouldn’t get so many wrinkles(皱纹)if you didn’t look at me like that,” Frank told his mom on their way back home.
Frank was very proud of being frank, but neither his schoolmates nor the adults admired Frank’ s honesty as he had thought.
Dotty said to Frank, “My freckles do not look like the Big Dipper. My mother said I shouldn’t care about your mean words.”
Carol came over to Frank and said quietly, “My singing is not perfect, but singing makes me happy. I will never sing with you.”
“You’ll have wrinkles one day, too. Some things are better left unsaid,” Mom said.
Everyone was upset, and now Frank wasn’t so happy, either.
He walked to his grandpa’s house. Grandpa was happy to see Frank.
“What’s the matter with you, Frank You look unhappy,” Grandpa asked.
“Everyone is mad at me. I’m not sure whether honesty is the best personality anymore,” answered Frank.
At that moment, Mrs. Peacock was walking by, wearing her large hat.
“It’s my new hat. Do you like it ” she asked Frank’s grandpa.
“Well, I love the purple flower on your hat,” Grandpa said.
Mrs. Peacock smiled and walked away.
Frank shook his head and asked Grandpa, “You don’t like Mrs. Peacock’s new hat, do you ”
“I didn’t tell lies. I really like the purple flower. I just talked about the good things on her hat instead of the bad things. I won’t speak a lot about the hat unless she asks me about it.”
Grandpa continued, “Of course, honesty is the best personality. However, you just have to find the right way to express your honesty.”

Just a few degrees can turn a gray, rainy day into a soft, quiet, and almost magical winter world. “Snowy weather is the most beautiful and magical weather of all,” says Alan Stewart, a weather psychologist (心理学家). Not everyone loves snow, but there are scientific reasons why so many of us go crazy for snowy days.
For many people, snow brings back happy childhood memories. In some cold places, a snow day meant no school — just having snowball fights, going skiing down hills, and building snowmen. Those wonderful memories remind us of the happy snowy days, making snow feel like a special gift.
Snow makes the world quieter and brighter. Fresh snow can take in some sound, turning noisy streets into quiet, peaceful places. It’s said that snow can take in up to 60% of sound. On dark winter days, snow also reflects (反射) light, making everything brighter. This helps fight against the sadness that can come from short, gray days.
Snow also changes the way some things look. An ordinary (普通的) tree becomes a work of art covered in white. Your familiar yard, once just grass and bushes (灌木), turns into a soft white floor. Everything that was once common and normal suddenly feels new and magical.
Best of all, snow might make some people act differently. A serious person might laugh happily while playing with snow. A lazy person might clear out thick snow from the streets. Snow seems to give us a chance to enjoy the happy and moving moments.
So next time it snows, take a minute to step outside. Breathe in the cold air, listen to the quiet, and let yourself feel that magic—you won’t regret it.
