Back then, there were no video games or smartphones,so we often played a good old-fashioned game of tag.I remember one time clearly.
I was the youngest and smallest of all the kids there,so I got caught first and couldn't catch anyone else.Although I tried my best to run after my brothers and cousins, they were all too fast for me.I felt down.
I finally kicked at one of my brothers and fell face-first onto the ground.I got up with tears in my eyes. Then I saw one of my cousins standing there. She started to run but was going much slower than before.I easily caught up and tagged her. Then she turned to me, smiled and said,"I’m it!You'd better run!"I ran off laughing with joy while she turned and started to run after one of my older brothers.

On September 19th,2025,an art firework show
was held by a team in Relong Township,Jiangzi
County, located in the Himalayas. This event caused
public doubts about environmental protection of the
plateau( 高原) .Later, the team said sorry and promised to take steps
to fix the problem.
The Himalayas are known as“Asia's Water Tower”because they
feed major rivers such as the Ganges and the Yarlung Zangbo River. They are very important for hundreds of millions of people. The area's environment is fragile —its soil is poor, and plants grow back slowly.Heavy metals and chemical pieces from fireworks might harm animals. The public's worry lies in the carrying ability of nature, not in art.
Similarly, the long-term popularity of climbing Mount Everest has also caused serious problems.Every year, hundreds of people
climb to its top, leaving behind a lot of rubbish, human waste, and chemical pollution. This has turned Mount Everest into“the world's highest rubbish place”.Both firework shows and mountain climbing are ways that people use the plateau for their own needs:art looks for visual( 视 觉 的 ) effects, while climbing looks for the pride of winning. But both put a heavy load on nature.
At the same time, the Himalayas are a sacred symbol in Tibetan culture.Mount Everest is called“Holy Mother”in the local
language. In a driven-business world, these sacred mountains are often just seen as backgrounds or things to sell. The loss of both culture and environment might make humans forget the value of living in peace with nature.
This event reminds us:protecting the Himalayas is about protecting nature and ourselves. We should understand how important it is to care about the environment and learn to respect nature.
( B )25.What are the Himalayas known as
A.The Highest City.
B.Asia's Water Tower.
C.The World's Largest Forest.
B 细节理解题。根据第二段第一句可知,喜马拉雅山被称 为“亚洲水塔 ”。
(C )26.What does the underlined word“fragile”in paragraph 2 mean
A.Strong. B.Beautiful. C.Weak.
C 词义猜测题。根据第二段中“ its soil is poor, and plants grow back slowly. ”可知,该区域环境脆弱。
(B )27.What is the structure of the text (P =paragraph 1)
(C )28.What is the writer's purpose in writing the text
A.To introduce an art firework show.
B.To encourage people to climb Mount Everest.
C.To advise people to protect the Himalayas and nature.
C 写作意图题。根据最后 一 段“We should understand how important it is to care about the environment and learn to respect nature. ”可 知 ,作者旨在建议人们保护喜马拉雅山 和自然。

As we grow older,we may forget things we once knew. However, according to a new study, musical memories may stay with us for a lifetime.
The study was led by Sarah Sauve,a music scientist at Lincoln
University in the UK.She found around 120 healthy adults aged from 18 to 86 and asked them to listen to three melodic ( 有 旋 律 的 ) phrases taken from musical pieces. They then made notes whenever they heard the phrases playing.
The results showed that the volunteers recognized the phrases quite well,no matter how old they were.Scientists believe that this is because music turns on the amygdala( 杏仁体).
"We know from general memory research that the amygdala functions somewhat like an important switch(开关),”said Steffen Herff,a scientist at the University of Sydney in Australia. In other words, the brain recognizes music as something so important that it must be stored safely for a long time.
Musical memories are also made strong against time by other parts of the brain. For example, the cortex(大脑皮层)for movement gets active from a song's rhythm. In other words, music has the power to "light up"the whole brain, said Science Daily.
"Therefore, doctors can use music to'unlock memories'in patients having neural disorders ( 神 经 系 统 疾 病 ) , ”said Assal Habibi,a researcher at the University of Southern California in the US.Habibi is trying to help patients with AD(阿尔茨海默病)reconnect to their “sense of self”through music.
"When you hear old-fashioned music, your whole brain is active, especially the daydream and story area,"said Habibi.
34.A new study shows that musical memories may stay with us forever.
musical memories 根据第 一 段“However, according to a new study, musical memories may stay with us for a lifetime. ”可知,一项新研究表明音乐记忆可能伴随我们一生。
35.To do the study,Sarah Sauve found around 120 healthy people from
different age groups.
different 根据第二段“She found around 120 healthy adults aged from 18 to 86”可 知 ,人们来自不同年龄段。
36.According to Steffen Herff's words,we know that the brain recognizes the importance of music and stores it safely for a long time.
the importance of 根 据 第 四 段“ In other words, the brain recognizes music as something so important that it must be stored safely for a long time. ”可 知,大脑认识到音乐的重要 性并长期安全储存它。
37.Assal Habibi thought music can be used to“unlock memories”in patients suffering from neural disorders.
can be used 根据第六段“ Therefore, doctors can use music to'unlock memories'in patients having neural disorders”可知,音乐可用于帮助神经系统疾病患者“解锁记忆”。

I feel happy and warm./…(答案不唯一)

35.To do the study,Sarah Sauve found around 120 healthy people from
different age groups.
36.According to Steffen Herff's words,we know that the brain recognizes the importance of music and stores it safely for a long time.
37.Assal Habibi thought music can be used to“unlock memories”in patients suffering from neural disorders.
38.How do you feel when you hear an old-fashioned song from your childhood

On June 24th,2025,a terrible flood hit Rongjiang,Guizhou.
school held an activity to help the people there. When I heard volunteers were needed,I decided to join them because I wanted to help the local people get through the difficult time.
On the first day,my classmates and I helped clean the streets. It was hard work, but we kept working hard.Seeing the thankful smiles of the locals gave us strength.Later,we gave out food and water to those in need.An old woman held my hand and said,"Thank you.
You are a kind kid.”Her words warmed my heart.Even when we were tired,we encouraged each other. This taught me the value of kindness and the spirit of keeping on.
This experience made me realize how lucky I am and how important it is to help others. The volunteer experience not only helped the people in need but also turned me into a responsible and caring person.
