When my son was little, he liked to run in our driveway and sometimes fell down. He would look at me first to judge if he was hurt. If I showed worry, he would cry. If I stayed calm, he would stand up and keep running.
Kids learn about the world from their parents. Parents teach them basic skills, and more importantly, their feelings are greatly influenced by parents’ behaviors.
Years later, when he was in middle school, my son told me a classmate was unkind to him. My first thought was to solve the problem at once by turning to his parents and the school. However, I calmed down and asked him for his idea.
My son said he would stay away from the classmate and play soccer at lunch instead. I praised his good way to deal with the problem, and he went back to his homework happily.
From these ordinary moments, I learned a key truth: sometimes parents should do less for their kids. With over 30 years’ experience in schools, I see many parents overreact (反应过度) and solve all problems for children. This makes kids lose chances to build confidence from overcoming difficulties, and makes them rely on parents too much.
Now competition for education, jobs and housing is getting strong. If parents always intervene to help kids out of trouble, children will doubt their own ability and feel anxious.
Educators call wise parents “Lighthouse Parents”. Like a lighthouse guiding ships away from rocks, they give enough guidance and support. They never control everything for kids. They know when to step back and let children find their own way to grow.
26.What does the author want to tell with the example of his child falling
A. Children should be prevented from taking risks.
B. Parents can feel exactly what their children feel.

D. Children would cry without their parent’s support.

28.What will Lighthouse Parents do when their child fears a school performance
A. Ask the child to report every step.
B. Give instructions on how to step back.

D. Complete the task for the child.

A. Creative. B. Traditional. C. Energetic. D. Wise.
30.How is the passage mainly organized

C. Compare two ideas → give reasons → draw conclusions
D. List facts → raise problems → solve problems

Space-based plant growing is a special farming technology and has been widely used in China’s farming development in recent years. ▲ They will put the grains into reusable satellites or small spaceships to send them to space. In space, the grains will meet special environments like zero gravity (重力) and outer space rays, which are completely different from those on the earth. These special environments can make the grains’ basic material change a little in a natural and safe way. When the grains are brought back to the earth, scientists will choose the best ones with good qualities to plant and breed step by step.
This technology has brought many good results for farmers across the country. For example, space-grown rice has bigger kernels (谷粒) than traditional rice, and it also has more health advantages that are good for people. Space-grown tomatoes are not only larger in size but also less likely to get hurt by small bugs (虫子) in the field. Up to now, many kinds of space-grown crops including rice, tomatoes and wheat have been planted in more than 20 provinces in China. Therefore farmers have got good crops every year and made more money from these high-quality space-grown crops.
Of course, space-based plant growing is not an easy job that can be done in a short time. Scientists need to pick good and healthy grains first, and then do many repeated experiments to make sure the new types can grow well steadily before they are widely introduced in the market.
31.Which of the following can be put in ▲ in Paragraph 1
A. Scientists have found a new way to travel to space.
B. Scientists have a special way to deal with these grains.
C. Many farmers are learning high-tech farming skills.
D. Many countries want to develop farming in space.
32.What can make the grains change naturally and safely in space
A. Special space environments. B. Modern powerful spaceships.
C. Scientists’ careful daily work. D. Special farming technologies.
33.What can we learn from the passage about space-grown tomatoes
A. They are smaller than traditional tomatoes.
B. They are less likely to be hurt by small bugs.
C. They have much fewer health advantages.
D. They can only be planted in a few provinces.
34.We can infer from the passage that __________.
A. space-based plant growing is a very easy technology
B. scientists don’t need to do experiments on the grains
C. space-grown crops have brought benefits to farmers
D. the new crop types can be promoted without any tests
35.What is the main idea of the passage

Dear Mark,
I’m Li Hua from Class 1. I’m writing to share my ideas about the AI evaluation of our class performance last Friday.
I think the AI evaluation is objective and helpful. It clearly points out our strengths and small disadvantages in class, which helps us realize our problems clearly. We can learn a lot from it. But it doesn’t have human feelings and can’t encourage us warmly.
I advise you to add your personal encouraging words to AI results. It will make the evaluation more caring and encourage us to make greater progress in future English classes.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
