The video started with a simple experiment. The teacher placed a ball on the table and asked two students to describe its colour. One said it was white, but the other insisted it was black. They argued, thinking the other was completely wrong. Then the teacher asked them to change their positions. Surprisingly, their opinions 32 at once. “You see,” the teacher said, “you were both right, just looking from different 33 .” In fact, the ball has two colours, with one side white and the other black. As a result, our group work didn t go well. However, I thought my classmates made 38 . But after this experiment, I realize that everyone has their own opinions and strengths. What I consider right may not be the same for others.
This video taught me a valuable lesson: Putting ourselves in others shoes can help us better understand others and 39 our friendship. Two days later, to my shock, I looked in my wallet for a card and realized I had $50 in there all along. He could easily take it, but he didn t. How I wished I could have given it to the man! I just paid too much attention to explaining the importance of kindness to my child and never remembered to check the wallet at the beginning.

The Civilian Mobile Library offers books for free. Readers are invited to take one book every 15 days. They are encouraged to pass it on to someone else once they ve finished reading. And they are not expected to return the book.
The library is just seven square metres in size but houses thousands of books on different subjects. “It might be the smallest library in the world,” said Xu Dawei, the owner. “But in another sense, it s also the biggest because the books keep moving. Once, a reader took a book on Chinese garden history. After finishing it, the reader passed it to a neighbour. The neighbour then took it to Germany!”
“I ve read thousands of books,” Xu said. “Books have truly changed my life.” The idea of starting a library took shape in 2000, when Xu recommended online a list of his favourite books to university students, but many of them said they couldn t find those books in their school libraries or local bookstores. So he began sending his books to readers for free. “They all wrote me letters to express their thanks. It inspired me to take it farther, turning my book-gifting into a physical space,” Xu said.
“All the readers have to do is to come. Even if they finish a book and decide not to pass it on, at least the book benefited one person and perhaps their family, helping them fall in love with reading,” Xu said. “And this is my dream.”
(D)62.Why did Xu Dawei mention the reader in Paragraph 2?
A.To ask for some help. B.To compare two ideas.
C.To recommend a book. D.To support his thoughts.
(B)63.What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A.Who helped Xu manage the library. B.What inspired Xu to start the library.
C.When Xu fell in love with reading. D.Where Xu found his favourite books.
(C)64.What is Xu Dawei s dream?
A.To travel around the world. B.To go to university.
C.To help more people love reading. D.To start seven libraries.
(A)65.What is the best title for the text?
A.Take a Book, Pass it on B.Your Hope, Our Dream
C.With Friend, Nice Trip D.Once Start, Never Stop

From May to November, six beach houses have fallen down in North Carolina s Outer Banks—a troubling sign of how erosion(侵蚀) continues to put a toll on the state s coastal villages.
The most recent collapse(倒塌) happened between last Thursday and Friday after a storm caused powerful waves along Rodanthe. The house was empty, and officials have been in contact with the house owner. Less than a mile away, three other homes had fallen down in September. Since 2020, a total of 11 houses in the area have been washed away into the ocean.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore said strong winds, large waves, as well as rising sea levels—which are caused by climate change—are causing beaches on the Outer Banks to wash away. “Many buildings close to the beach in Rodanthe are either partially or fully covered with ocean water on a regular basis,” the Seashore said.
It s a problem faced by coastal communities around the country. In North Carolina, over 750 homes along the state s beaches are considered in danger from erosion, according to an August report released by the state s Department of Environmental Quality and Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Erosion in these coastal villages affects tourism and destroys sea turtles home, and when homes fall down, it leaves ruins(废墟). The situation is expected to worsen as a result of rising sea levels and more coastal storms.
National Seashore officials have warned owners of unsafe houses to either strengthen their home s supports or move to a safer location if possible.
(A)66.What does the underlined phrase “put a toll on” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A.Cause harm to. B.Give way to.
C.Bring more people to. D.Make more power to.
(A)67.What might put the beach houses in danger?
A.The daily effects of winds and waves. B.The loss of wildlife s homes.
C.The ruins of houses left on beaches. D.The weak structures of the houses.
(C)68.What s the text mainly about?
A.New houses were built for safety. B.Tourism is becoming worse in North Carolina.
C.Rising seas put coastal towns at risk. D.Climate change leads to stronger storms.

①For foreign students who want to learn in China, before deciding to study Chinese in China locally, it s good to carefully understand what to expect from the culture shock that comes with it.
②One clear difference between Chinese culture and Western culture lies in communication styles. While Western culture often pays attention to clear words, Chinese communication is more indirect. For example, in the West, it s common to express one s opinion openly and directly, while in China, it s more likely for people to use suggestions to pass their thoughts, out of respect and to keep the understanding in relationships.
③Western culture is known for its focus on individualism(个人主义), where personal achievements and independence are highly valued. For example, moving out of one s parents home soon after being 18 years old is common in the West. Instead, Chinese culture is more collectivistic(集体主义的), prioritizing(优先考虑) the happiness of the family or group over individual needs. This could be seen in the strong ties between family members and the importance of teamwork.
④Understanding and thinking about special sides of Chinese culture are important for improving strong cross-cultural relationships and cooperation. Recognizing the value of learning from other cultures can lead to a richer community among different cultures. By welcoming the differences between Chinese culture and Western culture, we can improve mutual(相互的) respect, bridge cultural differences, and create a more united world.
(C)69.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A.The decision to study Chinese. B.The culture shock.
C.The process of studying in China locally. D.The foreign students expectation.
(C)70.What can we know from the text?
A.Chinese usually speak out their ideas directly.
B.In Chinese culture, self-interest is above everything.
C.The happiness of a group is more enjoyable in Chinese culture.
D.Westerners think working together is more important.
(B)71.What is the writer s main purpose of writing the text?
A.To introduce the ancient Chinese culture.
B.To encourage people from different cultures to talk with understanding.
C.To teach foreign students how to learn Chinese.
D.To show the differences between Chinese and Western cultures.
(A)72.Which of the following best shows the structure of the text?
A. B. C. D.
  第二节 阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。
F
The Zhongshan Eye Centre at the Sun Yat-sen University has achieved a milestone in the field of eye surgery(手术). Doctors there completed the world s first remote(远程的) micron(纳米的) operation on animals by using an independently developed 5G robot. The operation, which took place on June 23 at the centre in Guangzhou, was done by a medical team operating the robot from the Zhongshan Eye Centre in Haikou.
The main part of the robot is a special arm that makes accurate remote control possible. When it comes to treating eye problems, the common way is to put medicine directly into the eye area which needs treatment. But doctors hands shake naturally, making it difficult to be very accurate. The robot can copy tasks usually done by hand, and it performs them steadily(稳定地) and accurately. Another advantage is that even young doctors can perform eye surgery with 5G robot s help. According to Professor Lin, the leader of the medical team, becoming a skilled eye doctor takes at least 10 years of practice. However, with the help of the robot, young doctors can achieve a high level of accuracy comparable(可比较的) to experienced doctors. The third important point is that using 5G makes it possible for doctors to treat patients far away. Eye doctors can get clear and timely pictures, which makes remote operations dependable.
Still, it s important to remember that while this technology is promising, more research and tests are needed to make sure it s safe and works well for patients. “If everything goes well, 5G remote micron eye surgery will be available to humans within half a year,” Lin said. The team will keep working hard to help develop remote medicine in China and increase national medical levels.
73.How did doctors in the Zhongshan Eye Centre complete the remote micron operation?(不超过10个词)
By using an independently developed 5G robot.
74.When will 5G remote micron eye surgery be probably available to humans?(不超过5个词)
Within half a year.
75.When 5G remote micron eye surgery is available, would you like to advise your friends who need eye surgery to try it? Why or why not? Give at least two reasons.(不超过30个词)
Possible version 1: Yes,I d like to. It is more accurate than the common way and it is more convenient for us to have an eye surgery without waiting for too long. Possible version 2: No. I am not sure if it is safe enough for people. Besides, maybe it will cost more money as it is a new technology with 5G robots help.(开放性作答,言之有理即可。)

In our English class last week, our teacher showed us a video named “This Thought-Exchanging Experiment Silenced the Whole Class”. This video left a 31 impression on me.
Last Friday afternoon, I was at a restaurant eating with my family. Just as we finished up, a homeless man came in, clearly very hot from walking outside and clearly hungry.
We got up to leave. As we did, he walked past us, sat at the table we d just left, and started eating the leftover(剩下的) food. We noticed the waiters motioning(示意) to each other to clear the plates away from the table.
When we were walking out, we heard someone say, “Excuse me.” It was the man who had sat at our table. He noticed I d left my wallet behind and was walking towards us to give it back. I said thank you and my husband then ordered him a meal to show our gratitude.

A.To travel around the world. B.To go to university.
C.To help more people love reading. D.To start seven libraries.

A.Cause harm to. B.Give way to.

(M)Good morning, everyone. I m glad to be invited here to share my story. My name is Joseph Brown. I m a middle school history teacher. I love volunteering in summer and I have been doing that for the past 3 years, working with cats. I started doing this volunteer work after I read some news about homeless cats. I wanted to help them. But since I m usually very busy with my work, I can only volunteer during summer holidays. I usually go there every Tuesday and Thursday. There I clean the cats rooms, feed them and tell their stories to people who want to take one of them home as a pet. I have helped more than a hundred cats find new owners. The volunteer work is really meaningful. Nothing is better for me than watching a cat go out of the door with a happy new parent. And that s why I love volunteering there. If you also want to help homeless cats, come and volunteer with me.

(M)Good morning, everyone. I'm glad to be invited here to share my story. My name is Joseph Brown. I'm a middle school history teacher. I love volunteering in summer and I have been doing that for the past 3 years, working with cats. I started doing this volunteer work after I read some news about homeless cats. I wanted to help them.
But since I'm usually very busy with my work, I can only volunteer during summer holidays. I usually go there every Tuesday and Thursday. There I clean the cats' rooms, feed them and tell their stories to people who want to take one of them home as a pet. I have helped more than a hundred cats find new owners. The volunteer work is really meaningful. Nothing is better for me than watching a cat go out of the door with a happy new parent. And that's why I love volunteering there. If you also want to help homeless cats, come and volunteer with me.

The world's smallest island is called Just Room Enough Island. It lies between the US and Canada and it is just about 310 square metres. It is an island with just enough room for a single house, a couple of trees and a small beach with a pair of chairs. The owner of Just Room Enough Island is the Sizeland family. The family wanted to build it as a comfortable vacation home. They used boats to bring building materials from the bank.
And then they built the house, planted trees and grass on the island. The family never expected to be visited by travellers. In order to be called an island, their land must have an area larger than one square foot, stay above water all year and have at least one tree. Last Friday afternoon, I was at a restaurant eating with my family. Just as we finished up, a homeless man came in, clearly very hot from walking outside and clearly hungry.
We got up to leave. As we did, he walked past us, sat at the table we'd just left, and started eating the leftover(剩下的) food. We noticed the waiters motioning(示意) to each other to clear the plates away from the table.
When we were walking out, we heard someone say, “Excuse me.” It was the man who had sat at our table. He noticed I'd left my wallet behind and was walking towards us to give it back. I said thank you and my husband then ordered him a meal to show our gratitude. While we were walking away and on the drive home, I was explaining to my 6-year-old son what had happened and the importance of helping others, as well as being thankful to have a home to live in and food to eat.
Two days later, to my shock, I looked in my wallet for a card and realized I had $50 in there all along. He could easily take it, but he didn't. How I wished I could have given it to the man! I just paid too much attention to explaining the importance of kindness to my child and never remembered to check the wallet at the beginning.
This world may be hard even at the best of times, but there are some truly beautiful and honest hearts out there. May we all try and do what we can to make someone's day a little brighter.

The Civilian Mobile Library offers books for free. Readers are invited to take one book every 15 days. They are encouraged to pass it on to someone else once they've finished reading. And they are not expected to return the book.
The library is just seven square metres in size but houses thousands of books on different subjects. “It might be the smallest library in the world,” said Xu Dawei, the owner. “But in another sense, it's also the biggest because the books keep moving. Once, a reader took a book on Chinese garden history. After finishing it, the reader passed it to a neighbour. The neighbour then took it to Germany!”
“I've read thousands of books,” Xu said. “Books have truly changed my life.” The idea of starting a library took shape in 2000, when Xu recommended online a list of his favourite books to university students, but many of them said they couldn't find those books in their school libraries or local bookstores.
( )62.Why did Xu Dawei mention the reader in Paragraph 2?
A.To ask for some help.
B.To compare two ideas.
C.To recommend a book.

From May to November, six beach houses have fallen down in North Carolina's Outer Banks—a troubling sign of how erosion(侵蚀) continues to put a toll on the state's coastal villages.
It's a problem faced by coastal communities around the country. In North Carolina, over 750 homes along the state's beaches are considered in danger from erosion, according to an August report released by the state's Department of Environmental Quality and Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Erosion in these coastal villages affects tourism and destroys sea turtles' home, and when homes fall down, it leaves ruins(废墟). The situation is expected to worsen as a result of rising sea levels and more coastal storms.
National Seashore officials have warned owners of unsafe houses to either strengthen their home's supports or move to a safer location if possible.
( )66.What does the underlined phrase “put a toll on” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A.Cause harm to.
B.Give way to.

A
( )67.What might put the beach houses in danger?
A.The daily effects of winds and waves.
B.The loss of wildlife's homes.
C.The ruins of houses left on beaches.
D.The weak structures of the houses.
A
( )68.What's the text mainly about?
A.New houses were built for safety.
B.Tourism is becoming worse in North Carolina.
C.Rising seas put coastal towns at risk.
D.Climate change leads to stronger storms.

①For foreign students who want to learn in China, before deciding to study Chinese in China locally, it's good to carefully understand what to expect from the culture shock that comes with it.
②One clear difference between Chinese culture and Western culture lies in communication styles. While Western culture often pays attention to clear words, Chinese communication is more indirect. For example, in the West, it's common to express one's opinion openly and directly, while in China, it's more likely for people to use suggestions to pass their thoughts, out of respect and to keep the understanding in relationships.
③Western culture is known for its focus on individualism(个人主义), where personal achievements and independence are highly valued. For example, moving out of one's parents' home soon after being 18 years old is common in the West.
( )69.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A.The decision to study Chinese.
B.The culture shock.
C.The process of studying in China locally.
D.The foreign students' expectation.
C
( )70.What can we know from the text?
A.Chinese usually speak out their ideas directly.
B.In Chinese culture, self-interest is above everything.
C.The happiness of a group is more enjoyable in Chinese culture.
D.Westerners think working together is more important.
C
( )71.What is the writer's main purpose of writing the text?
A.To introduce the ancient Chinese culture.
B.To encourage people from different cultures to talk with understanding.
C.To teach foreign students how to learn Chinese.
D.To show the differences between Chinese and Western cultures.
B
( )72.Which of the following best shows the structure of the text?

第二节 阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。

The Zhongshan Eye Centre at the Sun Yat-sen University has achieved a milestone in the field of eye surgery(手术). Doctors there completed the world's first remote(远程的) micron(纳米的) operation on animals by using an independently developed 5G robot.
But doctors' hands shake naturally, making it difficult to be very accurate. The robot can copy tasks usually done by hand, and it performs them steadily(稳定地) and accurately. Another advantage is that even young doctors can perform eye surgery with 5G robot's help.
Still, it's important to remember that while this technology is promising, more research and tests are needed to make sure it's safe and works well for patients.
___________________________________________________________________74.When will 5G remote micron eye surgery be probably available to humans?(不超过5个词)
___________________________________________________________________

75.When 5G remote micron eye surgery is available, would you like to advise your friends who need eye surgery to try it? Why or why not? Give at least two reasons.(不超过30个词)
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Possible version 1: Yes,I 'd like to. It is more accurate than the common way and it is more convenient for us to have an eye surgery without waiting for too long. Possible version 2: No. I am not sure if it is safe enough for people. Besides, maybe it will cost more money as it is a new technology with 5G robots' help.(开放性作答,言之有理即可。)
