A great place for children to play and use their imagination. Playing different
roles is fun for kids. But it was overcrowded. For the price, it can be expensive as
adults can’t enjoy the activities the way kids do.

My son started college in another city this year, and our daily video calls always begin with the same questions,
“Do you wear enough clothes today ” “Have you eaten well ” “Do you go for a walk after class ” At first, he’d
laugh and say, “Mom, I’m an adult now!” But I knew those questions weren’t doubts — they were bridges connecting
my heart to his.
Last month, a sudden cold snap (寒潮) hit his city. I called him late at night. My voice was soft with worry:
“Did you find the thick sweater I packed for you ” He thought for a while, and then said gently, “Yes, Mom. I put it
on this morning. It’s so warm, just like you’re here.” I smiled, remembering how I’d folded that sweater repeatedly,
adding a packet of dried fruit he loved and some other small things to reduce his homesickness.
Another time, he mentioned feeling stressed about exams. “Do you have breakfast every day ” I asked. “You
can’t study on an empty stomach.” The next day, I sent him a box of his favorite nuts. He texted me later, “Mom,
every nut tastes like your love. I feel much better now.”
Those simple questions aren’t just daily habits. They’re my way of saying, “I’m thinking of you.” Even miles
away, they give him warmth, just like the quilt I used to put around him as a child. For a mother, love is never far —
it’s in every gentle question that keeps two hearts close forever.
( ) 59. Why did the mother add dried fruit to the sweater she packed for her son
A. To make the sweater warmer.
B. To help him fight off hunger.
C. To reduce his feeling of missing home.
D. To remind him of his favorite food.
( ) 60. How did the mother support her son when he was stressed about exams
A. She called him every night to encourage him.
B. She posted him his favorite food to make sure he ate well.
C. She visited him in his college.
D. She helped him make a study plan to reduce stress.
( ) 61. What does the writer want to tell us in the text
A. College life is full of stress.
B. Mothers should pack more things for kids.
C. Love lies in every gentle warm question.
D. Students should keep in touch with parents.
C
Human actions are affecting the environment. We will lose more of the natural world if we don’t try to change
things. Though it is difficult, we can make a difference. Each small change is important, and luckily more individuals
(个人) and organizations are working on conservation (保护) projects.
Samson, a fisherman, has become a voice for the ocean. He and the other fishermen realized they were catching
fewer and fewer fish. They were overfishing. Working with the World Wide Fund for Nature, Samson learned they
had to fish more carefully. He realized they shouldn’t catch so many young fish because if there are too few of them,
there won’t be enough adult fish to reproduce (繁殖). He believes protecting the ocean is everybody’s job. As he
says, “Take your responsibilities and never think that you are alone.”
In Florida, the Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) noticed there were always plenty of single-use plastic items, like
bottles and drinking straws (吸管 ) on the beaches. These items can hurt the ocean wildlife terribly. Straws are
especially dangerous for sea turtles (海龟) because they can get stuck in turtles’ noses and hurt them badly. So, the
STC started the project “Where are the straws ” asking local restaurants to stop giving customers straws with their
drinks. Now, restaurants will only give straws if customers ask for them, and they only give out paper straws.
These are just two examples of many conservation efforts around the world today. They both show us that
change is possible and that it can start with small actions. We are part of the problem. It’s time to be part of the
solution.
( ) 62. What is the main cause of the problem faced by the fishermen
A. Plastic waste. B. Overfishing. C. Paper straws. D. The environment.
( ) 63. Which of the following may Samson agree with
A. Fishing should be stopped everywhere.
B. Individual actions don’t make a difference.
C. Protection of the ocean is everyone’s responsibility.
D. Organizations should solve environmental problems.
( ) 64. What would happen through the STC’s efforts
A. Restaurants might increase the use of plastic straws.
B. There would be more single-use plastic items.
C. There would be fewer plastic straws on the beaches.
D. Customers would buy more drinks from restaurants.
( ) (原创) 65. What’s the main purpose of the passage
A. To warn people about the danger of plastic pollution in the ocean.
B. To introduce two people’s efforts to protect the ocean.
C. To explain why overfishing is harmful to the ocean ecosystem.
D. To encourage small, individual actions to protect the environment.
D
“From side to side, Lushan Mountain looks like rolling ranges; from near or far, high or low, it takes different
shapes. (横看成岭侧成峰,远近高低各不同).” This line from Su Shi, a great poet of the Song Dynasty, is more
than a description of beautiful views. It carries deep Chinese belief (信仰) — no one sees the whole truth if he only
thinks about problems from his own view. This idea is the origin (起源) of empathy (同理心) — putting oneself in
others’ shoes — in Chinese culture, and its importance runs through thousands of years of our wisdom.
Chinese culture has long valued empathy. Confucius supported it by saying “Do not do to others what you do
not want others to do to you.” People are supposed to treat others as they wish to be treated. This shows the nature
of empathy. Laozi said, “Know others by knowing yourself”, reminding us that understanding others starts with
stepping outside our own personal opinions. These thoughts are not just words, but rules for life.
In daily life, empathy solves conflicts: when a student argues with a teacher, empathy helps the student
understand the teacher’s care behind strictness; when family members disagree, it lets them see each other’s worries
instead of anger.
Culturally, empathy is the glue of Chinese society — it connects people through understanding, passing on
kindness. It frees us from narrow views, making us wiser. In a word, empathy in Chinese culture is the key to good
relationships and a broader mind.
( ) 66. Why does the writer begin the text with Su Shi’s poem
A. To show the beauty of Lushan Mountain.
B. To explain the importance of poetry in Chinese culture.
C. To introduce the idea of seeing things from different views.
D. To prove that Su Shi was a great poet in history.
( ) 67. Which of the following sentences can show the nature of empathy
A. Respect the aged and love the young.
B. Do not do to others what you do not want others to do to you.
C. Learn and review from time to time, isn’t it pleasant
D. Know others by knowing yourself.
( ) 68. What does the underlined word “conflicts” probably mean in the text
A. Tasks. B. Mysteries. C. Challenges. D. Disagreements.
( ) 69. According to the last paragraph, what is the cultural meaning of empathy in Chinese society
A. It helps students get better exam results.
B. It builds good relationships between people through understanding.
C. It helps people become more successful at work.
D. It helps family members agree on everything.
( ) 70. What is the best title for the text
A. Lushan Mountain’s Beautiful Views B. Empathy in Chinese Culture
C. A Famous Poem by Su Shi D. Thoughts from Confucius and Laozi

How to Improve English Listening Skills
For middle school students, improving English listening skills can be a challenging task. Here is some useful
advice to help you make progress.
First, listen regularly. Choose a specific time each day for listening practice, even if it’s just 15-20 minutes. You
can listen to English songs, English stories or watch English movies and TV shows. Keep listening, and you will get
familiar with different pronunciation and speaking speeds.
Second, choose the right materials. Start with something easy that matches your English level. For example,
English cartoons for kids or simple English stories are great choices at the beginning. As you improve, gradually
move on to more difficult materials like English news.
Third, practice listening with a purpose. Don’t just listen. Try to understand the main idea, pick out key words,
and answer some questions while listening. For example, if you are listening to a story, ask yourself who the
characters are, what happened, and where the story took place.
Fourth, repeat what you hear. After listening to a short passage, try to repeat it as much as possible. This can
help you improve your pronunciation as well as your listening memory.
In a word, improving English listening skills requires hard work and the right methods. By following these
suggestions and practicing regularly, you will surely see your improvement.

五、书面表达(参考范文)
In the picture, I can see two students. One of them is using AI to copy answers for the homework. The other thinks it
is a good idea. They want to finish the homework quickly so that they can have more time to play computer games.
I think their action is wrong and harmful. Copying answers won’t help them learn knowledge or improve their skills.
It’s a bad habit that will influence their study.
I suggest they use AI properly. They should finish homework by themselves. They can only ask AI for help when they
come across very difficult problems. Only in this way can they make real progress.

years old, she first saw her grandma doing paper cutting. Her grandma said different pictures have different meanings.

at the age of 12. After years of hard work, she has become a paper cutting artist. In her hands, a piece of red paper can be

horse. She often teaches paper cutting in schools to spread this ancient Chinese art.
