A father worked hard to pay for his family’s needs. The pressure of working, paying bills (账单) and hosting visiting friends made him feel like he was carrying a heavy bag on his back. Over time, he became angry easily, shouting at his son and arguing with his wife over small things.
One evening, the son came up to him with a notebook, “Dad, can you help me with my schoolwork ”
Already stressed, the father sent the boy away. Without a word, his son left. Later, as the father’s tiredness lightened a little, he went to the child’s room, finding the boy asleep with homework in hand. He carefully took the notebook and placed it down. His eyes fell on the notebook:

Working hard means I can live better.”
He kissed his son and said softly, “Sorry.” The moonlight went through the window, covering them in a gentle glow (微光).

Like cool swims and lazy vacations, fireflies are a sign of summer. Some of us have sweet memories of catching them on hot summer evenings. But how much do you really know about these little creatures
Fireflies use their lights to “talk” — mainly to find mates, but also to protect their homes and drive away things that might hurt them. What’s special is that their light doesn’t make any heat. This “cold light” comes from two chemicals (化学物质) in their body — luciferin and luciferase. When mixed with ATP (found in all living things) and O2, they create the light. Fireflies truly are nature’s tiny lanterns. Sadly, human activities are putting them in danger.
One big problem is the loss of homes. As cities and farms develop, the forests and fields where fireflies live are being destroyed. Another problem is light pollution. The light from homes, cars and streetlights make it harder for fireflies to signal (发信号) each other during mating. This means fewer baby fireflies will be born next season.
Here are some easy ways to help. First, turn off outdoor lights so that fireflies can signal each other freely. Also, leaving fallen trees, dead leaves, and natural waste in yards gives a good place for baby fireflies to grow. Since most fireflies live near still water, creating small ponds can bring them in. Most importantly, stop using too many pesticides (农药) which is bad for fireflies too.
Making these simple changes isn’t just about helping fireflies — it’s about keeping the magic of summer alive. Let’s work together to protect the beautiful glow for kids in the future.
56.Fireflies mainly use their lights for _______.
A.creating sweet memories B.staying cool on hot nights
C.communicating with mates D.finding different chemicals
57.Which of the following are needed to create fireflies’ “cold light”
①Heat ②Two chemicals ③ATP ④O2
A.①②③ B.②③④ C.①②④ D.①③④
58.What is the main reason that puts fireflies in danger
A.Summer heat. B.Cold season. C.City growth. D.Natural waste.
59.To help fireflies, we can _______.
A.turn on more streetlights B.tidy yards every day C.save water for farming D.use fewer pesticides
60.What is the writing purpose of the text
A.To show ways to catch fireflies. B.To list the problems of fireflies.
C.To compare all kinds of fireflies. D.To call on protection for fireflies.
On April 24, 1970, the first satellite of China, Dongfanghong-1, took off. 55 years later, the much larger and higher-level Shenzhou-20 manned spaceship took off on the same date. While Dongfanghong-1 is China’s first small step in space, Shenzhou-20 now can carry astronauts and perform scientific tests, showing China’s great steps forward.
As one of the key progress of this mission (任务), Long March-2F rocket has made 32 technical improvements. One of them is the telemetry system (遥测系统). In the past, scientists stored important information in a “black box” (a special recorder) and studied it after its return. But now, the new system collects it by using cameras and sensors (传感器) on the tower in some key locations. With a transmission rate (传输率) of 5 Mbps, it can send around 100 A4-sized pages of documents every second. This allows flight information to be collected and sent back to Earth in real time during the whole mission.
Later this year, China plans to carry out two manned missions and one supply (补给) mission. If these are achieved, the space station will be able to run over 180 science programs including life science and other fields. At the same time, China is working toward landing astronauts on the moon before 2030. And new rockets and spaceships are being tested to make sure they are safe. All these steps show China’s dream to reach deep space and share knowledge with the world.
China’s space journey grows more promising every day. Each mission shows not just scientific achievement but also the realization of a centuries-old dream.
61.How does the writer show China’s progress in space in Paragraph 1
A.By comparing facts. B.By giving examples. C.By telling a story. D.By asking questions.
62.What does the underlined word “them” in Paragraph 2 refer to (指代)
A.The tests. B.The missions. C.The rockets. D.The improvements.
63.Which of the following can help scientists to collect the information now
A. B. C. D.
64.What is China’s main space plan this year
A.Building a new system for mission. B.Sending supplies to space station.
C.Landing astronauts on the Moon. D.Testing rockets on the spaceship.
65.What could be the best title of this passage
