You can't talk about Cantonese culture without its morning tea. It's a special morning tradition in Guangdong.

Morning tea has Chinese tea and dim sum(点心). Common teas are oolong and Pu' er. Dim sum includes small dishes like shrimp(虾) dumplings.
Jie Gai Xu Shui and Kou Zhi Cha Li are key customs. The first means lifting the teapot cover to let the waiter refill an empty teapot. The second means tapping(轻敲) the table with the middle and index fingers(食指) to thank the person who refills an empty teapot.

Dear Chris,
I'm glad to know that you are interested in Chinese social manners. Social manners are important because they help people show respect and build good relationships.
In China, we have some basic social manners. For example, we often greet others with a smile. When eating with others, we usually let older people start eating first. Also, we don't talk loudly in public places. It's polite to keep quiet.
In my opinion, good social manners make life more wonderful. They help us understand and care for each other better. I hope you can come to China one day and experience Chinese culture yourself!
Yours,
Li Hua
