Hi, everyone. I’m Eric. Last spring, I did some volunteer work at a community centre. I went to the centre every Sunday afternoon. I taught old people how to use mobile phones. First, I showed them how to make video calls, because most of their children didn’t live with them. Especially in some important festivals, they missed their children very much. Then I taught them to take photos and send messages. After four weeks’ practice, they could call their children with their mobile phones by themselves. They were very happy and thanked me again and again.
I choose this volunteer work not for money but to help more old people live better. From this experience, I learn that even a small kindness can make the world more beautiful.

一、 Labor is not only a virtue, but also a special lesson for students. I’d like to share my experience with you.
Last Saturday morning, I decided to help my mother do the housework. I got up early to clean rooms, wash dishes, and sweep the floor. At first, I felt tired and wanted to stop. But then I thought of my parents’ hard work. I chose to keep going until everything was done. When I saw the tidy rooms, a sense of pride filled my heart. And when my mother smiled and said thank you, that warmth made all the tiredness disappear.
From this experience, I learned to be independent and developed basic living skills. I also understood that doing chores is my responsibility. Labor truly makes me grow into a better person.
二、Labor is not only a virtue, but also a special lesson for students. With great joy, I am excited to share with you my experience.
Last month, our class carried out a garden-cleaning activity, which I will never forget. It was on a hot Friday afternoon that we went to tidy up the school garden. I picked up litter, watered the plants and swept the paths. Tired as I was, I kept encouraging myself. Looking at my classmates who were also working hard, I felt really proud. It was our teamwork that made the tiring task much easier. By the end of the day, the once messy garden had turned into a beautiful, peaceful place.
Never have I realized how much joy and pride labor can bring. It taught me responsibility and the true meaning of teamwork. Labor, in my eyes, is the very thing that makes me grow and shapes me into a better person.

In a quiet mountain forest, there grew many tall trees. Among them was a young bamboo tree. When it was small, it felt sad and upset every day. It looked at the big pine trees around it and felt that it was useless and weak.
“I will never grow as tall and strong as pine trees,” the bamboo said to itself. “Pines have strong bodies and hard wood. People build houses with them. Birds build big homes in their branches. But I am thin and soft. No one needs me. I can do nothing useful.”
One winter, a heavy snow came. Snow fell heavily on every tree. The strong pine trees stood straight and tried to hold the heavy snow. But the snow became heavier and heavier. Soon, some pine branches broke with a loud noise. They could not stand the pressure of the thick snow.
The little bamboo was also covered with snow. But it did not stand still. It would bend(弯腰) its body gently when snow fell on it. It let the snow down slowly. It moved softly with the wind and snow. Even when the wind blew hard, it never broke. It just bent and returned to its straight shape again and again.
After the snow melted in spring, the bamboo grew taller and greener. An old woodcutter walked by and watched it carefully. He smiled and said, “Bamboo is special. It is not hard like pine, but it is flexible. It can bend without breaking. That is its greatest power.”
Later, people used bamboo to make baskets, chopsticks and paper. Bamboo also stopped soil from washing away on mountains. Birds liked to stay on its thin branches. The little bamboo finally understood its own value.
We often think only strength and hardness mean power. But life does not always need us to be hard.
