□ My favourite book is The Old Man and the Sea. It was written in 1952 by the American writer Ernest Hemingway.
□ The book became popular very quickly. In 1953, it won the Pulitzer Prize.
□ The main character is a fisherman who hasn’t caught anything for months. One day he catches a huge fish, but he has to fight for days to kill it. He finally succeeds, but he can’t pull the fish onto his boat. When the fisherman is on his way back, sharks eat the fish, leaving nothing but bones.
This book has taught me not to give up or doubt myself. I’m inspired by how hard the fisherman fights, even though he loses the fish in the end. As Hemingway said, “Man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.”
Even though I’ve already read the book three times, I’m not tired of it yet. If you’ve never read Ernest Hemingway, I recommend this book.

They face 81 difficulties during their journey. Even though the journey is full of challenges, they always help each other and never give up.

后接名词、代词或 if/whether/that 从句作宾语。
Language points

Sample writing
My favourite book is Robinson Crusoe. It was written by Daniel Defoe in 1719. Many people consider it to be one of the greatest adventure classics.
The main character is Robinson Crusoe who loves travelling on the sea. At the start of the story, a storm breaks Robinson's ship to South Africa. He is forced to live alone on a small island. He feels scared but tries to stay alive as well as possible. He manages to build a house, grow food and keep animals. Later, he saves a man called Friday and teaches him things. Although life is hard, they face all challenges together and help each other. In the end, a ship takes them home.
This book has taught me not to give up or doubt myself. What's more, it has allowed me to understand that hard work and hope can help us get over any difficulty. I recommend it without doubt it's great!
