Applying information
The participants in this show will be chosen by a jury. Each participant must submit five images of their work, along with a product description and artist statement, through simply the ZAPP application platform. Artists may apply in more than one category, but must submit separate applications and jury fees. The jury selects artists to ensure a diverse and balanced representation of styles. Judges review the artwork without knowing the artists’ identities, so make sure your identity isn’t visible on the artwork or in the title.
Regulations
·This show is open to distinguished or emerging artists/craft persons who exhibit work of their own concept and design.
·Only original artwork, crafts and reproductions of your work can be displayed.
·Exhibitors agree to remain set up for the entire duration of the festival. Exhibitors are responsible for setting up their booths (摊位) and also for cleaning up their exhibitor space at the end of each day.
·Tents, tie downs, tables, displays, fixtures, extension cords and any other items necessary for the booth and display are to be provided by the exhibitor.
Refund (退款) policy
It is agreed that Colorado Events is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged item at any of its events. A refund will not be granted for rough weather or other reasons. Please note that we do not give refunds, and we will issue a company credit, if an exhibitor cancels a show 60 days prior to the event.

Since 2018, British physicist Jessica Wade has been writing Wikipedia articles to elevate the profiles of female scientists. This initiative was inspired after she met climate researcher Kim Cobb at a conference. Impressed by Cobb’s work, Wade was horrified to find no Wikipedia page for her. That’s when Wade made the decision to write the first of many biographies (传记).
Since then, Wade has dedicated herself to increasing diversity in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). In less than a decade, she has created over 2,000 Wikipedia entries. Her focus is on women and other underrepresented scientists who have been overlooked. She highlighted a significant gap in a 2024 podcast, noting that while women make up 51% of the global population, only about 19% of English Wikipedia biographies are about women across all professions.
Through her research, Wade has rediscovered numerous pioneers. These include Dawn Shaughnessy, part of a team that discovered five super-heavy elements; Roma Agrawal, the lead engineer for London’s Shard skyscraper; and Gladys West, a Black mathematician whose work is crucial for GPS technology. Wade’s efforts have earned her recognition, including a TEDx Talk, the Rosalind Franklin Award, and praise from Wikipedia’s founder, Jimmy Wales.
However, Wade’s mission has faced opposition. Her biography on Clarice Phelps, a Black nuclear chemist involved in discovering a new element, faced scrutiny and even deletion threats from other Wikipedia editors. Wade successfully fought to keep the entry online.
Wade argues that the lack of diversity in science is not just unfair but negatively impacts research and innovation. Citing data from the American Association of University Women, she points out that women comprise only 26% of the STEM workforce, with Black and Hispanic (西班牙裔) women accounting for just 2% of engineers. She challenges the assumption that girls lack inspiration, stating that girls are already interested in science, and the key is to increase the proportion of women who stay in the field.

For many years, Guiyang Confucius Academy (孔子学院) has a programme called “Our Festivals”. It gives new life to four traditional Chinese festivals: the Spring Festival, the Tomb-Sweeping Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Since 2013, it has held over 60 events, with over 20 million people joining online and offline.
During the 2025 Spring Festival, people climbed 333 steps for good luck, tried “New Six Arts” challenges, and enjoyed music, tea, and traditional foods.
On the 2025 Tomb-Sweeping Festival, the academy focused on remembering family members who passed away and loving the family and the country. There were Tunpu Dixi Opera shows, folk songs, rock music, and a dance drama about Wang Yangming. People also bought things about culture at market stands.
On the 2025 Dragon Boat Festival, for praying for peace and health, the academy organized a creative show that explored Qu Yuan’s and Wang Yangming’s ideas. Over 8,000 people joined, and 8 workshops showed some traditional national arts like paper cutting.
On the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival, the academy allowed visitors to enjoy poems and tea, and admire the moon alongside actors dressed as well-known ancient people. These activities help people love traditional customs more.
Through these wonderful activities in “Our Festivals”, Guiyang Confucius Academy not only keeps traditional Chinese festivals alive but also helps more people connect with their own culture and feel its vitality.
