When team members tell you about their ideas, you should listen to them actively and think about their ideas carefully, no matter how silly they may sound. This shows you are interested in their ideas and makes them feel good. If you are unclear about something, you should ask them.
Create an environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing their thoughts and opinions without fear. This builds trust and helps make a more harmonious team. By the way, regular team meetings should be held to discuss something important and necessary. Share your own ideas with other people. When you have a new idea, talk about it with your team members. Chopsticks are common in China, because it’s a tradition for the Chinese to eat with chopsticks. They play an important part in Chinese food culture. But have you ever visited a chopsticks museum
The Shanghai Chopsticks Museum is probably smaller than any other museum in Shanghai. It was founded in 1988 by collector Lan Xiang, who traveled widely in search of chopsticks. The showroom is only 10 square meters on the first floor, but it has many kinds of chopsticks from China, Korea, Japan and Thailand, and the chopsticks date back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. The complete collection includes more than 1,200 pairs of chopsticks, and is unique (唯一的) in China. Lan has traveled to lots of places in Asia to collect them. The chopsticks are made of different materials, including bamboo, wood, ivory, silver and crystal.
“We Chinese use chopsticks to eat. Without chopsticks, there would be no culture,” Lan says, “But it’s hard to find much written about chopsticks down through history.”
Lan hopes we can attach more importance to (重视) such a great and old tradition. Over the past twenty years, he has written 25 books on chopsticks, their history and their development. You can read his famous book, Chinese Chopsticks, in the museum.
Though the museum is small, it is worth a visit. You can learn Chinese culture and stories behind those chopsticks. The museum is at 191 Duolun Road. It is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it’s free.
