1.Cable-way
Table Mountain is often covered by special clouds that form when wind blows up the slopes
into colder air,causing wet air to freeze into what looks like a"tablecloth."Legend attributes
this phenomenon to a pirate (called Van Hunks,the Devil and a local tobacco contest
between them.On clear days,the lucky tourists can ride a cable car from the base of the
mountain to the beautiful flat top.To date,more than 20 million visitors have ridden this
360-degree cable car system.
2.Hiking
Numerous hiking paths offer tourists various levels of climbing difficulty up the face of the
mountain.A typical climb takes about two and a half hours,but plan for longer depending on
weather;which can change very suddenly.Take at least a litre of water with you,and wear
strong,comfortable shoes-the paths are characteristically stony and uneven.
3.Caving,Rock Climbing,and Mountain Biking
Caving,rock climbing and mountain biking are very popular pastimes on Table Mountain,
with well-sandstone caves pointing to steep paths,unusual routes,and adventure for various
levels of expertise.Go as a group,or hire a guide to show you the ropes.
