In recent years, short video platforms have developed rapidly, making short videos extremely popular among
people of all ages.
They are favored for their rich content and instant entertainment, which can help people relax and learn new
things in spare time. However, they also bring obvious problems. Many people get addicted to short videos,
wasting much valuable time. In addition, some misleading content may negatively influence teenagers’ growth.
In my opinion, we should use short videos wisely. We must control our viewing time and choose positive
content to enjoy their benefits.

Paragraph 1
She looked into my eyes and said something sincerely. She had heard from other teammates that I was terrified
of stage lights and chose to quit the dance out of fear. She gently comforted me and reminded me that every
member had poured great efforts into the group performance, and the whole team would fall short without my
participation. Struck by her genuine concern, I was filled with deep shame for only focusing on my own anxiety
while ignoring teamwork. Mom’s previous persuasion flashed through my mind, pushing me to make up my mind
to face fear and realize how selfish I had been.
Paragraph 2
With my fear set aside, I chose to rejoin my dance team. In order to fully devote myself to training again, I first
made sure Mattie was well looked after by Grandma. Then I threw myself into intensive rehearsals wholeheartedly.
Supported and encouraged by my teammates, we refined every move side by side. When performing on stage, I
overcame my stage fright completely and danced in perfect harmony with them. The warm applause made me
realize that true growth lies in overcoming inner fears and shouldering responsibilities together as a team.

Good morning! Welcome to the “Green Earth” project. Do you know that over 8 million tons of waste end
up in the ocean each year Surprisingly, most of it comes from land-based activities, not ships or oil
platforms. (18) Many communities in our city are taking action, and we are one of them. Our volunteers,
including students, office workers and retirees, have formed several beach cleanup teams. We meet regularly
to collect litter, separating plastics, glass, and metal for recycling. (19) One of our teams in Sunny Bay gathered
over 1, 500 kilograms of litter last year alone, earning widespread praise on social media. These efforts make a real
difference in protecting sea turtles, crabs, and birds. Many say the cleanups are tiring but rewarding — a small act
with a big impact. If you want to know more about us, please send emails to greenearth@. (20) Our
hotline is unavailable now.

Yang Zhenning, born on October 1, 1922 in Hefei City, Anhui Province, is a Chinese physicist who made
significant contributions.
In 1935, he told his parents his ambition to “win the Nobel Prize one day,” a childlike “bold statement” that
later became a reality in 1957, becoming one of the first two Chinese Nobel Prize winners. In 1945, he went to the
US as a Tsinghua sponsored student. Three years later, he got his PhD at the University of Chicago, guided by his
idol Professor Enrico Fermi. Recommended by Fermi, he entered Princeton Institute for Advanced Study in 1949
and started brilliant academic research.
Although he lived in abroad, he always cared about his motherland. Learning that China’s atomic bomb was
developed independently, he was deeply moved to tears. He gave lectures and speeches, causing an increase of
Chinese scholars visiting China.
In 1980, he established the “Committee on Scholarly Exchange with China,” sponsoring nearly 100 Chinese
scholars to study in the United States over more than a decade. These scholars later became the backbone of China’
s scientific and technological development.
In 1999, shortly after retiring, Yang Zhenning came back to Tsinghua University as a full-time professor. He
spent the next years raising money to set up the Institute for Advanced Study Foundation, which now helps young
scientists work on mathematics, theoretical physics and cold-atom research. Even past eighty he taught General
Physics to first-year students, rewrote his lecture notes and held weekly problem sessions. “Returning to Tsinghua
is the most important choice of my later life,” he once said. Though Professor Yang has passed away, his spirit
lives on in every lab and in the growing number of Chinese students who choose to explore science at home.
24. At what age did Yang won the Nobel Prize
A. 10 B. 13 C. 23 D. 35
25. The author mentions the “Committee on Scholarly Exchange with China” mainly to show that Yang Zhenning
______.
A. intended to reform China’s education system
B. sought a business bridge between China and U. S.
C. inspired young Chinese researchers to U. S. labs for training
D. dreamed of building a U. S. university branch in our country
26. What does the paragraph 5 mainly emphasize about Yang Zhenning
A. He built a large technology park in Beijing.
B. He raised funds for exhibition on mathematics.
C. He stopped doing research once he turned eighty.
D. He continued contributing to Tsinghua after retirement.
27. Which words can best describe Yang Zhenning
A. Intelligent and odd. B. Ambitious and patriotic.
C. Romantic and determined. D. Honest and warm-hearted.
C
“Being honest is a characteristic of Finnish (芬兰的) culture — at least if we compare it to other cultures,”
said Johannes Kananen, a lecturer at the Swedish School of Science at the University of Helsinki. “In English there
is a saying that the truth is so valuable that it should be used sparingly. But in Finland, people speak the truth all the
time.”
A few years ago, Reader’s Digest did a “Lost Wallet Test”, where their reporters “lost” 192 wallets in cities
across the world. Each wallet had $50 with contact information, family photos and business cards. Eleven out of
every 12 wallets dropped in Helsinki, the Finnish capital, were returned to their owners, making it the most
“honest” city of those tested.
“Truthfulness and honesty are greatly valued and respected,” Kananen said. He cites the example of the
scandal (丑闻 ) that hit Finnish skiers when Finland hosted the FIS Nordic Ski Championship in 2001. Six top
Finnish athletes got caught doping (服兴奋剂) and were disqualified. The scandal was covered in the national press
as a matter of public shame, and there was a sense of collective embarrassment in the country.
“For the Finns, the worst thing about the doping scandal was not, however, the scandal itself,” reports an
article published in The International Journal of the History of Sport. “The worst thing was that, along with the
false image of honesty in sports in general, the myth of the honest, hardworking Finn came crashing down.”
Often, though, it comes down to simple matters of size. Gokul Srinivasan, a robotics engineer and
entrepreneur living in Helsinki, explained that in a small community if someone is caught lying once, they won’t be
considered trustworthy again. Though Finland is nearly three times bigger than England, it has just one-tenth its
population — with most of the country’s 5.5 million residents concentrated in the urban centers in the south. As a
result, there is a good chance that people in a specific field already know of each other.
28. What does the English saying probably mean
A. Honesty is the best policy.
B. Tell the truth only when necessary.
C. The truth is hard to accept.
D. Try to be as honest as possible.
29. Why did Reader’s Digest organize the test
A. To prove that Helsinki is the safest city.
B. To encourage people to return lost items.
C. To compare honest levels in different cities.
D. To know how people react to their lost wallets.
30. What does Gokul Srinivasan want to emphasize in the last paragraph
A. The irregular spread of Finland’s population.
B. The advantages of living in a small community.
C. The differences between Finland and England.
D. The reason for the Finns appreciating honesty.
31. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Finland’s small population shapes its honest culture.
B. Finns value honesty deeply, shown in various aspects.
C. A doping scandal damaged Finland’s national reputation.
D. International tests prove Finland’s honesty worldwide.
D
In recent years, China’s space technology researchers have scored a major breakthrough in applying artificial
intelligence to space technology. The self developed geographic information platform MerakGIS, created by the
Hangzhou Center of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, has built a new intelligent system for
space-air information processing. This system has caught wide attention from experts and people in the industry
since it was released last month.
This platform creatively combines large language models with agent technology, shifting the traditional
“human-computer interaction” mode to a more effective “human-machine cooperation” one. Users can simply
input their questions or requirements, and the system intelligently explains complicated satellite pictures, combines
diverse spatial (空 间 的 ) datasets, and does advanced studies. Now, users can complete satellite image
interpretation, space data combining, and smart checking directly by using natural language instructions. This
makes it much easier for non-experts to use. Even people with little technical training can use it easily and quickly.
To improve independent innovation, the team has worked together with Zhejiang University and Zhejiang
Laboratory on technical research and achievement transformation. They have spent nearly two years solving key
problems and testing the system again and again. Their continuous efforts focused on solving the problems of data
connecting rate and making the AI algorithms (算法) better. At present, MerakGIS has been successfully used in
the new energy field, providing stable spatial data services and management support for more than 1,000 solar
power stations across the country. It has helped these stations improve their work efficiency by about 30%.
This achievement combines high-precision “aerospace core” with intelligent “AI brain”, expanding the use of
space-air information in strategic emerging industries and showing aerospace technology’s value in serving
national economy and people’s livelihood. The team says they will keep improving MerakGIS and hope to apply it
in more fields like agriculture and environmental protection in the future.
32. What is the primary purpose of creating MerakGIS
A. To create new satellites. B. To advance AI tech.
C. To handle space-air information. D. To get global experts.
33. Which is an innovation of the platform
A. It relies on satellite image analysis. B. It cuts aerospace technology costs.
C. It operates through natural language. D. It replaces human workers entirely.
34. What can be inferred about the platform’s development
A. It was finished within a month after being released.
B. It relied mainly on overseas labs for core technology.
C. It was tested once and applied immediately nationwide.
D. It took joint work to improve integration and algorithms.
35. Which of the following best describes the future of MerakGIS
A. Promising. B. Doubtful. C. Profitable. D. Uncertain.

Listen to the way you talk about your own life on a daily basis. I am not talking about your formal
presentations; I am talking about your informal and casual complaints. “My luck is absolutely terrible.” “I cannot
handle this anymore.” You think you are just complaining to your friends or to yourself. 36
You think acting like a pessimistic loser protects you from disappointment. 37 And your brain does not
understand self-deprecating (自嘲), and it does not know when you are just joking. It listens to every single word
that comes out of your mouth. Then it treats it as a direct command, and immediately searches for evidence to
prove you right. You keep complaining “I am completely stuck.” 38 It stops looking for the exit because
you have already announced that there isn’t one.
39 Instead of saying “I am dying of stress”, they say “I am operating at high capacity.” They never ask,
“Why is this happening to me ” They ask, “What is this trying to teach me ” This simple word trick is not just
cheap self-help phrases. It is a fundamental reshape of your mindset. It shifts your identity from a passive victim to
an active creator.
It is time to be serious about what you say. 40 Stop using your own mouth to curse (诅咒) the beautiful
life you are trying to build. You must cultivate the courage to speak highly of yourself, your capabilities, and your
future. Speak like a winner, and the world will eventually have no choice but to agree.
A. You have already put huge pressure on your friends.
B. Your words are the invisible architecture of your reality.
C. In reality, you are bringing bad luck to your own life.
D. But negative language patterns don’t make the suffering hurt less.
E. When your current reality looks depressing, use negative comments.
F. Your brain accordingly shuts down its creative problem-solving centers.
G. I see many brilliant people who live by a value system of self-encouragement.

“I want to quit dancing,” I said softly to Mom, my hands twisting nervously together in front of my chest as I
stared at the floor, too ashamed to meet her eyes. I was very afraid of the bright stage lights that always broke
through the darkness of the hall, showing every small mistake I made and filling me with great nervousness that
made me eager to escape the stage as quickly as possible. The coming group dance performance made me feel very
worried, becoming more frightening with each passing day.
Knowing clearly that the dance was an important group activity, Mom sat down beside me and gently
persuaded me, saying softly that every teammate was very important to the team’s success and that I shouldn’t give
up all my hard work just because of my unreasonable fear. But I was too filled with my own anxiety and worry to
listen to her words, my only wish being to stay far away from the stage and its terrifying, unkind lights.
Soon after, Grandma’s dear dog Mattie suddenly fell ill with a high fever, lying weakly on the floor and
refusing to eat or drink. I at once took this unexpected thing as the perfect excuse to quit dancing, telling Mom I
needed to stay home to look after him. Yet instead of the comfort I had hoped for, I felt a deep, empty boredom
come over me. One Saturday afternoon, I walked aimlessly outside to get some fresh air and unexpectedly met my
dance partner Sylvia at the local garden center.
When she saw me standing there alone, a look of slight surprise appeared on her face for a moment before she
gave a warm, friendly smile and walked over to greet me.
