① Grain Buds, also known as Xiaoman, is one of the twenty-four solar terms in China. In the 20th century, it often fell around the end of May each year, usually on May 20, 21 or 22. During this period, the weather becomes much warmer and wetter.
② The name Xiaoman has clear meanings. “Xiao” means little, and “Man” means full. It tells us that the grains of summer crops are becoming full but not yet ripe (成熟的). Farmers need to take good care of the fields at this time. They must water the crops in time, because dry weather may hurt the young grains. They also need to pull out weeds and protect the crops from insects.
③ The weather changes a lot around Grain Buds. The temperature rises quickly, and there is more rainfall. The air becomes wet and warm. This weather is great for the growing of grains and vegetables. However, too much rain may also bring problems. Farmers have to clean weeds and take away extra water in the fields.
④ There are several traditional customs connected with Grain Buds. In many farming areas, people hold activities to wish for good harvests. They make special food and show their respect to the farmland. In some places, people eat fresh vegetables and fruits to stay healthy in the wet and hot weather. What’s more, during Grain Buds, everything grows fast, so people hold small activities to show thanks to nature for its gifts.

In recent years, a special and warm new trend named “Becoming Chinese” has taken social media by storm all over the world. It became really hot in 2026 and attracted millions of young people from different countries.
The whole trend first started with a short TikTok video created by a Chinese-American lifestyle blogger. In her video, she did not show any fancy or surprising performances. Instead, she simply shared some common Chinese daily habits in her life: drinking warm water all day long, wearing comfortable slippers (拖鞋) at home, and enjoying a bowl of hot congee (粥) for breakfast every morning. These small and ordinary living ways looked simple but full of warmth.
Soon after the video came out, it went viral online in just a few days. Lots of foreign people online were deeply interested in these slow and healthy Chinese lifestyles. They began to follow the trend and tried these habits by themselves. Many of them posted their own short videos online, showing that they were drinking goji (枸杞) tea in the afternoon, practicing Baduanjin to relax their bodies, and washing feet in hot water before going to bed. After keeping doing these things for some time, most foreigners said they slept better, felt less stressed, and became much healthier than before.
However, this popular trend does not mean foreign people want to change their own sense of belonging (归属感). They have no plan to give up their own traditions or home culture. In fact, it clearly shows that today’s young people from all over the world truly admire the gentle, simple and healthy ancient wisdom behind Chinese daily culture. According to a report from MIT Technology Review on April 1, 2026, a new kind of part-time job is becoming popular around the world. People can get money to record their daily housework at home. Their videos give real action information to help train robots that look like humans.
Most of these workers are from countries like Nigeria (尼日利亚), India and the Philippines (菲律宾). They wear small cameras on their heads and film simple daily tasks: washing dishes, cleaning rooms, using things at home, or cooking simple meals. With about 15 dollars an hour, this job pays much better than most other part-time jobs there.
Behind this new kind of work is Micro 1, a tech company. It has hired thousands of workers in over 50 countries to collect real-life action information. All the recorded videos go through two steps: first, a basic check by AI, and then careful work by people to mark every movement and how people use objects.
Computer simulations (仿真) alone cannot teach robots to deal with the messy and unpredictable situations at home. But real videos of human actions let machines learn natural and easy-to-use movements. This first-person visual information is exactly what helps robots fit into family life.
However, this new trend also brings worries. Recording private home life may put people’s privacy at risk. Many people question if the collection and use of personal information are properly allowed. Even with these worries, the report says real human information has become a necessary part of developing future home robots. Ordinary housework has now become a valuable resource for AI progress. As robot technology keeps developing, these workers will stay an important force behind the growth of smart home robots all over the world.
41. Why does the new part-time work pay better than most local part-time jobs in the workers’ countries
A. Because the workers need to record many hours of video each day.
B. Because the work provides important data for robot training.
C. Because the workers work longer hours than usual.
D. Because the company only hires people from poor countries.
42. According to the passage, what are the correct steps the recorded videos go through
A. Human labeling (人工标注) → AI screening → robot training
B. AI screening → human labeling → robot training
C. Robot training → AI screening → human labeling
D. Human labeling → robot training → AI screening
43. Why are real human videos better than computer simulations
A. They are cheaper to make.
B. They are easier to record and upload.
C. They help robots handle real home situations.
D. They make robots learn movements more quickly.
44. What is the main worry about this new job
A. Robots will take all part-time jobs. B. It may put people’s privacy at risk.
C. The pay will drop soon. D. Too many people will quit full-time jobs.
45. What can we infer from the passage
A. Real human information is necessary for home robots.
B. The workers are all from Asian countries.
C. The company will soon replace humans with AI.
D. Workers’ salaries will double in the next year.

Last term, our teacher asked us to give an English speech. I wanted to give up at first, but my teacher encouraged me to be brave. I practiced every day, corrected my pronunciation.
On that day, I stood on the stage and finished my speech smoothly. My classmates cheered for me. Courage helped me challenge myself and beat my fear.
I learned that nothing is impossible if we face it bravely. It makes me more confident and helps me grow up better.
