二、完形填空
Have you ever heard the saying, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch” It’s a popular phrase that reminds us 16 in life is truly free. Even when something appears to be free, there is almost always a hidden cost. For example, when a store offers a “free” gift, you might need to buy 17 product first. Or, if a friend treats you to lunch, you may feel like you 18 return the favour someday.
This idea is especially important when it comes to money. People work hard to earn money — 19 studying, training, and doing their jobs every day. They then use that money to 20 necessities like food, housing, education, and healthcare. So 21 an advertisement claims something is ‘free’, it’s wise to ask: Who is actually paying for it Often, companies offer free samples or trials 22 attract customers. In return, they may collect your contact 23 or convince you to buy more later.
Understanding that there’s no free lunch helps us become smarter about spending and saving. It teaches us to read the fine print, compare prices, and avoid deals that sound too good to be true. Money is valuable because it represents time and effort. Learning to use it 24 from a young age can lead to a more secure and independent future. Remember: if something seems free, look closer—there’s usually a price tag 25 somewhere.

I have learned English since I was 10 years old. Everything I was taught at school was about tenses (时态) and other complex grammar. Every day, my teacher asked us to copy new words 10 times. Slowly, I got fed up with reciting (背诵) vocabulary and grammar rules. And learning English became something I disliked.
When I was in 10th grade, my parents bought me a computer. From then on, it became my best helper. I began to learn English through interesting learning materials on the Internet, and it was also when I fell in love with the language. I began to listen to music and watch TV shows. Besides, I found many websites. People from all over the world exchanged cultures with each other on those websites. I made a lot of foreign friends there, and we talked about everything in life.
At first, I thought that people wanted to communicate with each other, so they learned English. When I fully learned the language, I found something important: Through language, I can deeply connect with all the knowledge in the world.
Thanks to English, I have learned much more about the world around me. The journey towards language fluency (流利) is not always easy, and I still have a long way to go. I won’t, however, give up on it.

Do you get pocket money from your parents Do you know how children in other countries use their pocket money Let’s take a look!
In China, many children get pocket money from their parents every week or every month. Some children save their money in piggy banks. Others spend it on snacks, books or toys. A study shows that about 60% of Chinese children save at least some of their pocket money.
In the United States, children often get pocket money for doing housework. They may get 1 to 5 dollars each week for washing dishes or cleaning their rooms. Many American children learn to manage money at a young age. They often divide their money into three parts: one for spending, one for saving and one for giving to others.
In Germany, things are a little different. German parents believe that children should learn the value of money early. Many children get pocket money once a month instead of once a week. This helps them learn to plan their spending for a longer time. German children often keep a notebook to write down what they spend money on.
In Japan, children usually get pocket money on special days like New Year. They get money in red envelopes from their parents and relatives. Many Japanese children save most of their money in the bank. They learn that saving is important for the future.

Reading comprehension (理解) is the key in exams, and using the right skills can save time and improve accuracy (精确度). 46
· Fast reading
One is skimming. We use it to find main ideas. 47 This helps answer questions like “What is the passage about ”. You don’t need to read every word-just get the general (大体的) idea. The other one is scanning. It works when you need specific (特定的) details. If a question asks for a date, number or name, move your eyes fast over the passage to find these keywords. 48
· Close reading
Reading closely helps with difficult questions. When the question asks about what the sentence means or how the author feels, read that part slowly. 49
· Extensive (广泛的) reading
Reading widely is useful for “guess” questions. 50 Read the whole passage to understand the context (来龙去脉). And then use your common sense to make a guess.
Practice these skills, and you’ll feel more confident in exams.
A.Think about how words go together to get the answer.
B.I’ll show you some simple ones and I hope they can help you.
