During World War I,she helped save many lives by creating mobile X-ray machines for hospitals.
However, her long exposure (暴露) to radioactive materials made her very sick. She died in 1934 from a disease caused by radiation.

Technology is developing very fast, and it has become a big part of our daily lives. It is changing the way we live, learn, and talk to each other.
In the past, people used letters to communicate.Sending a letter to another city or country took many days or even weeks. Now,things are very different. With smartphones and the Internet,we can send a message or make a video call to someone anywhere in the world in just seconds. The world has become a much smaller and more connected place because of this.
Learning has also been changed by technology. When students have homework, they can quickly find information online. They can watch interesting educational videos and take online courses from famous teachers without leaving home. This makes learning more fun and easier for everyone.
Another important area is health.Doctors now use modern technology to examine patients carefully. This helps them find diseases very early, which can save many lives.
However, technology also brings some problems.A major problem is that some people, especially young students, spend too much time on their phones. This can be bad for their eyes, their health, and may even affect their studies. Therefore,it is important for us to learn how to use technology in a smart and healthy way.
All in all, technology is a powerful tool.It brings us a lot of convenience, but it also comes with challenges. Our job is to use it to make our lives better, and not let it control us.The future will depend on how we choose to use technology.
23.What is the main topic (话题) of the text?______
A. The importance of health.
B. The history of letter writing.
C. The problems of modern technology.
D. The influence of technology on our lives.
24.According to the text, what was the main disadvantage of using letters in the past?______
A. They were not safe. B. They were very expensive.
C. They were difficult to write. D. They took a long time to arrive.
25.What is the writer's attitude (态度) towards technology?______
A. It is too difficult for most people to use.
B. It is mostly bad and should be avoided.
C. It is useful but needs to be used wisely.
D. It is completely good and has no problems.
26.The phrase "the world has become a much smaller place" probably means that technology has made it easier for people to ______
A. travel around the world quickly B. build smaller houses and cities
C. learn about different countries D. communicate with someone faraway
D
As the weather gets warmer, travelling may be the best thing. But it might not be that fun for everyone, especially for those who have motion sickness (晕动症).
Motion sickness is also called travel sickness. It is a common experience for many people.People with motion sickness feel very uncomfortable while they are in motion. They feel sick and dizzy (眩晕的) like the room around them won't stop spinning (快速旋转).We use different parts of our body to sense movement. Our eyes tell us if we are moving. The inner ears contain (包含) a special liquid (液体) that helps us sense our direction and balance. Our muscles (肌肉) react to movement. When you move around, these body parts work well together. But when you are in a car or an airplane, they get confused (糊涂的).Your inner ear says that you're moving, but your eyes say you're sitting still because you can't see that you're moving. This mismatch gives us motion sickness.
But some people are less sensitive to motion sickness. This may be because they have certain genes (基因) that prevent mismatching senses,Bethann Hromatka,a genetics expert from the US,told the Atlantic.
Although there are many ways to deal with motion sickness, scientists believe that the key is to simply try and adapt to it.For example, some astronauts do special exercises that give them mild (轻微的) motion sickness. After a week or two,the astronauts become used to it and don't feel uncomfortable anymore.
27.When people have motion sickness,they will feel ______ .
A. uncomfortable B. confused C. sleepy D. moving
28.You have motion sickness in a car,because ______ .
A. your eyes tell you the wrong information
B. it seems that you are taking an airplane
C. the car moves more slowly than an airplane
D. your inner ear and your eyes disagree with each other
29.What does the underlined phrase "adapt to" in Paragraph 4 mean?______
A. Look up to. B. Get used to.
C. Get away from. D. Be interested in.
30.What's the purpose of the text?______
A. To introduce genes. B. To introduce sickness.
C. To introduce motion sickness. D. To introduce the parts of body.

Many amazing animals are in danger of disappearing forever. These are called endangered species (物种).Sadly, human activities are the main reason why they are dying out.
Animals like the tiger and the blue whale are endangered. Why is this happening?First, people cut down forests to build farms and cities. This destroys (毁坏) the animals' homes.Second, hunters illegally (不法地) kill animals for their fur, bones,or other body parts. This is called poaching (侵入他人地界偷猎).Third, pollution from factories and cars makes the air, water, and soil dirty, which is harmful to animals.
We must act now to protect these treasured wildlife.Governments can create nature reserves (保护区) where animals can live safely.Stronger laws are needed to stop poaching and the illegal wildlife trade.Scientists are also working hard to help endangered animals breed (繁殖) and increase their population.
But everyone can help, including us students. We can learn about endangered animals and tell others why they are important. We should also try to reduce, reuse, and recycle to help protect the environment.Remember, every small action counts.
(1) According to Paragraph 2,how many main reasons are given for animals becoming endangered?
______
(2) What can governments do to help protect endangered animals?
______
