Bags of Love
Last year, I worked in a middle school near my mother’s house, and I stayed with her for a month. During that time, I helped her do some housework and buy some food.
After the first week, I noticed that the food was eaten up very quickly. Then I began keeping an eye on my mum. To my surprise, I found that she would put some of the food into a paper bag and go out with it at about nine every morning. And finally, I decided to follow her. I saw her taking the food to the street children. She would also spend a lot of time talking and playing with them.
One day, I talked to a neighbour and found out that my mum was well-known in the area. The children were very friendly with her and even thought of her as their own mother. Then it hit me—why wouldn’t she want to tell me about it Was she worried that I would stop buying food if I found out
When my mum got home, I gave her a big hug(拥抱). I told her she didn’t need to keep it a secret from me. And she told me something about the children. Some of them lived with an old lady in a small house. Others slept on the street. For years, she was helping the poor street children by giving them food. After she told me everything, I was so moved by how selfless(无私的) she was. She helped others in need. As her son, I was so proud of my mum.
I continued to buy food for my mum after that. But I always added one more bag for her other children.

When I started junior high school, my worst fear came true. I was only 1.5 meters tall, and other students often made fun of me. Their jokes really hurt me. I felt so sad that I didn’t want to go to school, and I cried a lot in private.
But then, a girl named Lily changed everything. One day, when I was walking alone, she came up to me and put her hand on my shoulder. She smiled at me and said, “Your height doesn’t matter. What’s important is who you are inside.” Her kind words made me feel better.
After that, I decided to be stronger. When people made jokes about my height, I just smiled and didn’t let their words get to me. I worked hard on my schoolwork and spent a lot of time studying. As a result, my grades got much better, and I became one of the top students in my class.
I also tried new hobbies. I started learning to play the violin. It was difficult because my hands were small, but I practised a lot and could play some simple songs soon. I also joined the school swimming team. At first, I was worried that I wouldn’t be good at it because of my height. However, I found that I could swim fast, and I even won a race for my school.
Now, I’m much more confident. I know that my height isn’t a problem. It’s my hard work and positive attitude that make me who I am.

Jake was a normal teenager with a big dream. He wanted to be a top-level athlete. But a car accident changed his life. He lost his left leg below the knee, and his dream seemed to break. But Jake didn’t let his disability stop him. He was sure that nothing was impossible.
Jake started to get better and train. Learning to walk with a fake leg was the first hard thing. It hurt and made him feel bad, but he didn’t give up. After months of hard work, he could walk again and began to train for running. He joined a local sports club for disabled athletes and met his coach, Mr Brown there.
Mr Brown was an experienced coach. He saw the good in Jake. He made a special training plan for him. The plan was about getting stronger, keeping balance, and running faster. Jake trained every day. Sometimes he pushed himself too hard. He had to get over not only body problems but also mind problems. There were times when he felt down, thinking he could never race with normal athletes. But with the help of his coach and family, he kept going.
After years of hard training, Jake could go to the Paralympic Games. Standing on the track, with the best athletes from all over the world around him, he felt both nervous and excited. The race was tough, but Jake did his best. He ran with a strong will, his fake leg hitting the ground in a regular way. When he crossed the finish line, he saw his time and knew he had done something great. Although he didn’t win the gold medal, he broke his own record and inspired many people.
Jake’s story shows the power of the human spirit. It tells us that no matter how big the problems are, if we have passion, keep trying, and stay positive, we can beat anything.

Recently, I have read the book The Kite Runner by US writer Khaled Hosseini. The story takes place in Afghanistan (阿富汗). It is about friendship and growth.
Amir is a boy. He makes friends with his servant (仆人) Hassan. The two boys share the love of flying kites. During a kite fight, a group of bad people hurt Hassan when he goes to get Amir’s kite back. Amir sees what’s happening to his friend but he’s too afraid to help. Soon after, Hassan leaves Amir’s home. When the war (战争) breaks out in Afghanistan, Amir leaves the country, but Hassan and his family have to stay. Many years later, Amir brings Hassan’s son to the US and takes care of him. He wants to do something for Hassan because he didn’t help Hassan in the past.
In the book, Amir’s personality (个性) changes interestingly. At first, he is afraid to be brave and doesn’t really consider helping others, putting himself first. But he becomes brave at last. He learns to face the difficulty and help other people in need.
