A 10-year-old boy named Wang Zixuan developed a deep interest in Chinese classic (古典的) novels after visiting a theme park in Kaifeng, Henan Province. He watched wonderful plays based on the classic Outlaws of the Marsh (《水浒传》). Soon he enjoyed reading the original (原作的) books.
The local theme park is full of scenes and shows from the great novel. Actors work hard to understand classic roles. They read the original books and watch related TV works again and again to show the characters’ true nature. The park puts on more than 100 plays every day and draws thousands of visitors during holidays. These lively shows offer a new way to attract young people to traditional classics in the age of short videos.
In Langfang, Hebei, another popular park is based on A Dream of Red Mansions. It provides creative plays. Many middle school students come for visits. Most of them once found the classic hard to understand, but the performances make characters and stories easy to follow.
Creative plays and new media forms greatly encourage teenagers to read printed books. Many cultural places have worked with over 100 schools and received huge numbers of student visitors. Experts believe turning classic texts into lively performances makes ancient works closer to modern readers.

Axolotls are well-known for their cute smiles. They have long interested scientists because of their unusual ability to regrow limbs (arms or legs) and even parts of their brains. Now, a new study helps explain how this happens.
James Monaghan, a scientist at Northeastern University, set out to explore a question that scientists could not answer for 200 years. His research focused on how an axolotl, when losing a hand, knows to regrow only that hand rather than a whole arm. The study found that axolotls have something in their bodies called retinoic acid (视黄酸). It tells cells (细胞) to start regrowing the right limb.
By examining axolotls, Monaghan discovered that their retinoic acid levels naturally get lower from shoulders to hands. This means cells at the shoulder have high levels and can help grow back a whole limb, while cells at the hand have low levels and only grow back the hand. After the researchers added more retinoic acid to an axolotl’s hand, the animal grew more than necessary, and its hand became a whole arm.
Humans also have retinoic acid, but our cells work differently. So, understanding this message is an important step to use these findings to help humans. “It could help with scar-free wound healing (无疤痕愈合), and even bigger goals, like regrowing a whole finger,” Monaghan said. It is important to proceed with this research, as scientists are finding new ways that now seem impossible with human medicine.
42. What makes axolotls special to scientists
A. Their special living habits.
B. Their long life in natural water.
C. Their cute looks and big smiles.
D. Their ability to regrow limbs and brain parts.
43. Which graph can show the change of retinoic acid levels in an axolotl’s body
A. B. C. D.
44. The underlined words “proceed with” in the last paragraph probably mean “________”.
A. continue B. avoid C. change D. hide
45. In which part of a magazine would you most likely find this passage
A. Sports News. B. World History. C. Animal Science. D. Travel Diary.

Most of the cafe’s workers are from the village. Over 10 workers like Song farm in busy seasons and work as coffee workers in their spare time. The cafe, covering about 1,000 square meters, was once a disused factory. It has large pictures of village sages (圣贤) and a movie room, with green, cloud-covered Zhongnan Mountains behind it.
To suit local tastes, it serves special food including Tianpeizi and leek-and-egg pie (韭菜盒子). Its popularity is because of the fast-growing tourism in Qinling and the government’s environmental protection.
