Lily and Emma are on vacation. They are sharing their stories during the travels with each other.
Dear Lily, I’m in Australia now! My cousin and I flew here last Friday. The flight (航班) was 12 hours long, but I didn’t feel bored. I watched two movies and read a book on the plane. On Saturday, we went to the Great Barrier Reef and swam with the fish. It was amazing! On Sunday, we visited a koala sanctuary (考拉庇护所). I even got to hold a baby koala. We spent a whole morning there. But I had a small trouble in the afternoon. I lost my hat at the beach. We looked for it for 30 minutes and finally found it under a tree. Hope you’re having fun too! Yours, Emma
Dear Emma, I’m so glad you’re having a good time! My mum and I are in Canada. We took a bus here last Sunday. The journey was tiring, but the view along the way was beautiful. Green forests and blue lakes are everywhere. On Monday, we went hiking in the Rocky Mountains. It was a bit hard, but the view from the top was wonderful. Yesterday, it snowed heavily, so we stayed in the hotel and read books. The weather report says tomorrow will be sunny, so we’re going to visit a farm. Yours sincerely, Lily

Ghaffar Pourazar developed a strong interest in Beijing Opera and learned the necessary (必要的) skills to perform it. Later, he became popular with his lively performance of the Monkey King, a traditional character from the Chinese classic story Journey to the West.
In 1993, he happened to watch Beijing Opera performed in London by professionals from Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing. Ghaffar was captivated by the beautiful voices, colourful clothes, excellent stories and so on. So after a year, he arrived in China alone and began to learn Beijing Opera.
At the age of 32, he had to learn with teenage students every day, starting from the most basic training of the legs and waist (腰). At that time, he was mostly troubled by the dialogue (对话) in Beijing Opera. To him, it was the biggest problem. But he never gave up, and he tried his best to practise. Four years later, he began to learn to perform the Monkey King. He usually arrived at the practice room an hour earlier than the other performers and he also bought books and CDs to understand the character better. Finally, he won a top international prize for performing the Monkey King.
To help more people enjoy Beijing Opera, Ghaffar often teaches the traditional art in schools across many countries. He once led actors to perform 66 times in one and a half months in the US and took a 48-member team to perform in Malaysia. In the past 10 years, he has performed in more than 400 shows, sharing this traditional art and his lifelong hobby with people around the world.根据材料内容选择最佳答案。

Today, many people worry about smartphones and social media (社交媒体). They are made so interesting that young people don’t want to stop using them. A new report gives some facts about this problem.
The report shows that after 2012, when more and more teenagers started to have smartphones, they felt less happy and satisfied (满意的) with life. It also finds that if teens spend more time on screens, their mental (精神的) health will get worse.
Jean Twenge studied how screen activities and non-screen activities were connected to happiness. She found that screen time and non-screen time were like a “zero-sum” game: If you spend more time on one, you will have less time for the other.
Many parents notice this. Diane Tanman says her two sons, aged 11 and 15, used to play outside more and felt happier. Now, they spend a lot of time on online games. These games often give rewards (奖励) to make players keep coming back. “They’re like junk (垃圾) food for the mind,” she says. Another parent, Ed Lazzara, finds his 12-year-old son Leo becomes unhappy and restless (不耐烦的) after playing video games for too long.
However, totally keeping away from electronic devices (电子设备) won’t bring happiness, either. The report found that the happiest teens used them for less than one hour each day. If teens use them for more than an hour daily, they may become less happy.
__________ Many schools ask students to use computers for learning. But problems come when teens use electronic devices too much for fun instead of for schoolwork.
Understanding how screen time affects teens can help them use technology in a healthier way. Like enjoying ice cream: It’s okay sometimes, but not every day.
