Ethan的流动帮扶行动
Ethan Hill started helping homeless people when he was only six. Now, he is 13 years old and has already founded an organization that has changed many people’s lives.
It all began on a cold morning when little Ethan noticed an old man shivering(颤抖) on the street.
The sky was dark and the snow was coming. Ethan felt worried about the man. He’d saved $100 that
year. He thought, “I can use this to help him.” He searched online for things homeless people needed,
like gloves, food, and a small tent. He packed them into a large bucket(桶) and gave it to the old man.
After that, Ethan wanted to do more. He created “Ethan’s Heart”, an organization that attracted
many volunteers. One of them even donated money to buy a trailer(拖车). When Ethan won the Gloria
Barron Prize for Young Heroes, he used his prize money to turn the trailer into a free mobile store. In
this way, homeless people could come and choose what they needed.

Volunteering means helping others without payment. It’s not a hard thing to do, but it can bring
you a lot of good things. Here are four great reasons for you to try it.
Make New Friends Easily. When you volunteer, you’ll work with other kids and adults who also like to help people. While you’re doing the same things, you’ll talk and laugh together. Soon you’ll become friends.
Learn Useful New Skills. Take Lisa as an example. She volunteered at an animal shelter last month. There, she learned how to feed baby dogs and keep their cages clean. Now, she uses these skills to
care for her pet cat. These skills can help you in your daily life too.
Make You Feel Happy. Just as the saying goes, “The fragrance(香气)always stays in the hand that gives the rose.” Think: when you give an old lady a flower, she smiles. When you help a boy find a
lost toy, his eyes light up. Their joy brings you a deeper happiness than any other gift.
Make Your Community Better. A clean street and a happy old people’s home—all these good things start with small acts of help. You can change the place where you live. Little by little, you’ll make your community a nicer place for everyone.
So why not start now Join a volunteer project this week. Even if you help a little, you’ll see that
it makes a big difference—not just for others, but for yourself too.

When visiting Rome’s Trevi Fountain(喷泉), people usually throw coins into it and make wishes. But where do the coins go after being thrown into the fountain
In fact, there are four workers who collect the coins from the fountain twice a week. They also clean the fountain twice a month. The workers use brushes and hoses (软管) to collect the coins. Then, these coins are given to “Caritas”, a charity in Rome that helps people in need. This charity uses the money to run a food bank, a soup kitchen, and other programs to help people. In 2022, Caritas received about 1.4 million euros(欧元) from the fountain and hoped to get even more in the future.
There are also signs around the fountain, telling visitors where their coins will go. Many visitors are very happy about this event. Yula, a visitor from Brazil, said, “I make a wish for something important to me by throwing a coin into the fountain, and I know it will help people in need. My wish might help someone else’s wish come true too.”
If you visit the Trevi Fountain one day, remember that your coin can make a difference to
