Have you ever experienced hui nan tian, or lasting humid (潮湿的) weather
Hui nan tian is a special weather condition in southern China. It normally appears in spring when the temperature begins to rise and the humidity quickly increases. Before it arrives, there are usually a few cold days, with a temperature below 12℃. As the cold air goes away, warmer air quickly comes and the temperature rises, creating a lot of water vapor (水蒸气). Small water drops can be seen on windows and walls. For example, if the temperature is below 12℃ from March 7th to 9th but suddenly rises on March 10th, hui nan tian will appear on March 10th.
During hui nan tian, food goes bad easily and clothes stay wet. Things like televisions may break down when they get wet inside. It can also make people feel tired and sick. Catching a cold is prevalent during this time, as the temperature changes quickly. Although the weather troubles people a lot, for nature, it can be helpful. Thanks to the humid weather, plants can grow better with enough water and warmer air.

Dear You (A Love Letter to Grandma) is a movie from Chaoshan, China. It tells a touching story about love, family and keeping promises (承诺).
The main character is Grandma Ye Shurou. She waited for her husband for 50 years after he went to Nanyang (Southeast Asia) to find work. But her husband never came back.
Her grandson, Zheng Xiaowei, owes (欠) money to others. He runs away to Thailand. While there, he also wants to learn about his grandfather. But he finds out a big secret: the person who wrote letters and sent money to Grandma all her life was not her husband. It was a stranger named Xie Nanzhi.
In the old days, many people from Chaoshan went to Nanyang to work. Overseas Chinese (海外华人) sent letters and money home called Qiaopi. These letters were full of love and care for their families. In 2013, Qiaopi was added to the UNESCO Memory of the World Register (世界记忆名录) because it shows the deep love and duty Chinese people have for their families and homeland.
