From red apples to green watermelons, fruits come in many different colors, including white. red, blue, purple and black. Why do differcn t kinds of fruits have so many colors
The colors of fruits actually come from their diferent pigments (色素 ), which depend on the temperature. To find out how temperature influences fruit colors, Chinese scientists studied more than 280 different fruit colors. They found that red fruits usually grow in cooler places and blue fruits mostly grow in warmer places. And instead of just growing in one place, fruits grow in many places around the world. The scientists also found that the closer the fruits are to the equator(赤道), the darker their colors will be.
Animals have also had an influence on the development of fruit colors. Animals eat fruits and drop the seeds in other places later. This helps the fruits spread and grow in different places. So. in order to draw animals, some fruits develop colors that are easy for animals to see.
