This includes using deep fakes (冒充者) to present themselves as someone else. Now, AI is being used in the fightback with Telecom Company O2 applying an AI granny in the action.Daisy, an AI grandma created by British Telecom Company O2 as the cleverest scam fighter, is a new AI tool with the voice of a grandmother designed to talk with scammers and “waste as much of their time as possible”. Basically, she rambles on (絮叨) about anything and everything to keep them away from real people. While Daisy may sound like a human, she is actually an AI large language model with the character application of a grandma. The company worked with known scam artists to train Daisy and used a method called Number Seeding to get Daisy’s phone number added to a list of online “mugs lists” — lists used by scammers targeting UK users. She functions by listening to the scammers and translating their voice to text. The AI then searches its large database to find a suitable reply, based on the specific scam training she’s received, and translates that text answer to speech for Daisy to reply. All this happens in seconds with no additional input needed. The goal is to keep the scammer on the phone for as long as possible by trapping them in a lifelike, but lengthy conversation. “Daisy is turning the tables on scammers — outsmarting them at their own pitiless game simply by keeping them on the line,” Murray Mackenzie, Director of Fraud at O2, explained.O2 also hopes to draw attention to scams by warning users to be careful about who they may be speaking to. “No matter how good someone on the other end of the phone may be, they aren’t always who you think they are,” Murray said. “In terms of tips and tricks, whether you’re shopping online, reviewing your emails, or receiving an out-of-the-blue phone call, it’s important to always remain watchful.”28.How does the AI granny fight against scammers A. By taking up scammers’time. B. By keeping scammers interested.C. By telling scammers funny stories. D. By talking scammers into quitting.29.Why does Daisy receive scam training A. To recognize scammers’ tricks. B. To react to scammers properly.C. To improve her translation skills. D. To make herself more creative.30.What do the underlined words “turning the tables on” probably mean A. Serving. B. Educating. C. Tracking. D. Defeating.31.What is Murray’s suggestion to the users A. Stop answering calls. B. Use particular software.C. Raise anti-scam awareness. D. Avoid shopping online.DDid you know there’s a specific term for the situations where you experience a sudden, mysterious vehicle jam on the road for no apparent reason, such as an accident It’s called a “phantom traffic jam,” and was first identified around 12 years ago by researchers in Japan conducting a simple experiment. Although the researchers had 20 human drivers drive at a constant speed around a special track, even the briefest instances of them lightly pressing their brakes led to those recognizable traffic stop-and-go patterns.A research group is now approaching the finish line of a potential solution without relying on any sort of half-baked “self-driving” system. According to the Associated Press, a recent experiment has shown that instances of phantom traffic jams can be reduced by linking cars into a single communication network via newer vehicles’ adaptive cruise control (ACC) systems. An increasing number of cars now come equipped with sensors that can automatically slow down or speed up depending on the distance to the vehicle ahead. Researchers recently had 100 cars travel on a 15-mile section of Nashville’s I-24 between 6 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. each morning, with their smart cruise controls not only enabled but also interconnected. By creating a web of information from multiple cars at varying distances, the AI can adjust vehicles’ speeds while accounting for conditions far ahead. It is important to note that this is not self-driving car technology, but rather an enhanced driver assistance system that can be further developed to create a network of shareable information for vehicles. As such, drivers could theoretically see such systems on the road long before fully autonomous vehicles arrive. “This is something we could realize soon,” explained Liam Pedersen, a deputy general manager for research at Nissan.32. Which of the following situations is a “phantom traffic jam” A. Cars wait in line at a busy exit.B. Cars slow down for a crash ahead.C. Traffic stops due to a broken light.D. Vehicles go and stop without clear cause.33. What is a strength of the potential solution A. Generating fewer traffic accidents.B. Using technologies already in place.C. Reducing the need for human drivers.D. Fixing problems in current ACC systems.34. What role does AI play in the potential solution A. A pair of eyes that sees far ahead.B. A map that shows the road ahead.C. A driving coach that trains new drivers.D. A guard that prevents cars from crashing.35. Which is the most suitable title for the text A. Car Info Building Road NetworksB. Self-driving Tech’s Quick ArrivalC. Nissan’s New Car Invention GoalD. Car Links May Reduce Phantom Jams第二节(共5小题:每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的正确选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。Setting Clear Goals for Your StudyDo you want to improve your grades Just remember this saying: “The only way to achieve great things is to set clear goals.” Setting clear goals is a powerful way to help you study. Goals help you stay on track and maintain your interest. Moreover, setting goals helps you develop important skills like self-control and time management.Set Realistic GoalsTo set good goals, you must first know your own strengths and interests. 38 For example, if you are good at English but weak in Math, your goals for them should be different. Try to use “SMART” goals—goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This gives you a clear plan instead of just a vague (模糊的) wish.Break It DownSometimes, a long-term goal can look huge and scary. 39 By identifying specific steps, you can start with confidence. You can create a to-do list to decide which tasks are most important. This helps you organize your time effectively and finish your work step by step.Monitor and CelebrateRegularly checking your progress is key to success. Second, each Friday we organize a “Campus Clean-Up Hour,” where students collect and sort litter in designated areas. After one month, we reward the most active classes.Wish your campaign a great success. Speaking of creating and not just performing, have you ever tried to plan the dance for a full show My friend tried it recently and found that it wasn’t just about teamwork; in fact, creating original work was far harder than he ever expected.W: I completely agree with that. It’s a huge challenge to build a whole routine from nothing, with no one else’s steps to follow.M: I can imagine. And on a different note, you’ve joined a lot of international competitions, right I’ve always heard they are great events for making professional connections and meeting people.W: That’s true. You certainly can meet a lot of people there. But what impresses me most is that the atmosphere is just intensely competitive — everyone’s mainly there to win.18.C 19.A 20.B【原文】Sit down, everyone.
