To me, one of the most inspiring people in Chinese history is Mozi (about 468-376 BCE). It is said that Mozi was a soldier, good at woodwork, and was the inventor of the kite. But in fact, above all, he was a great thinker.

The person I admire most is Yuan Longping, a great scientist who was known as the “Father of Hybrid Rice”. It was great of him to develop a new kind of rice and help reduce hunger. Yuan was born in 1930, but it’s a pity that he passed away on 22 May 2021 in Changsha.
At a young age, Yuan Longping saw many people go hungry. He made up his mind to grow more rice to feed the world.

For many years, he worked in the field day and night, testing different kinds of rice plants. Finally, he developed hybrid rice, which greatly increased rice production and helped millions of people out of hunger. In September 2019, he was awarded the Medal of the Republic.
Though he passed away in 2021, his spirit lives on. I think he is still a great inspiration to young people today. He inspires us to value science and hard work. His story tells us that with hard work and a kind heart, we can make the world a better place.
