[2026·福州模拟] While iconic landmarks like the Great Wall of China or Machu Picchu dominate travel brochures, the world harbors lesser known cultural treasures that offer equally profound insights into human ingenuity. Here are four extraordinary yet overlooked UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The Rock Hewn Churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia
Carved vertically into volcanic rock in the 12th and 13th centuries, these 11 medieval churches represent a “New Jerusalem” for Ethiopian Orthodox Christians. Remarkably, builders chiseled downward from the surface to create freestanding structures like Bete Giyorgis(Church of St. George), shaped like a perfect Greek cross. Pilgrims still crawl through narrow tunnels symbolizing the path to salvation.
The Mud Skyscrapers of Shibam, Yemen
Dubbed(戏称为) the “Manhattan of the Desert”, this 16th century walled city features more than 500 tower houses rising 5—11 stories from a single mud brick base. Built to protect against Bedouin raids, their honeycombed design withstands extreme temperatures. Traditional lime plaster maintenance, now endangered by conflict, keeps these earth structures intact for centuries.
The Ancient Water Management of Rani ki Vav, India
This 11th century stepwell in Gujarat is an underground architectural wonder, descending(下降) seven stories underground. Designed as an inverted temple, its walls feature over 800 complex sculptures depicting(描绘) deities, celestial beings, and geometric patterns—all celebrating water's life giving role. The stepwell's unique filtration system uses sand and gravel layers to purify monsoon rainwater, sustaining communities during droughts. Its corkscrew staircase and columned pavilions demonstrate advanced medieval engineering.
The Sacred Forests of Yakushima, Japan
Home to 7,000 year old Yaku sugi cedar trees, this mist shrouded island inspired Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke. The Jōmon Sugi tree, measuring 16.4 m in circumference, survives through symbiotic moss networks that redistribute nutrients. Ancient logging techniques like “Daisugi(台杉)” are still practiced sustainably.
( C )1.What keeps Shibam's mud towers standing in the desert
A.Regular mud coatings.
B.Wooden support frames.
C.Honeycomb structural design.
D.Underground cooling systems.
( A )2.What was Rani ki Vav mainly used for

[2026·扬州模拟] The development of society has enriched children's experience. But in this age of the Internet, video games and artificial intelligence, attracting children to the theater has become challenging for playwrights and theater artists around the world. Youngsters need to watch plays to learn the values of life, society and culture from literature and other art forms.
For the past decade, the China National Theater for Children(CNTC) has been producing educational plays. For example, Three Monks, originally a physical drama based on an ancient Chinese legend, has surprised audiences since its debut in 2014, thanks to its vivid and innovative theme. The most valuable aspect of the play is that it makes young audiences interested in Chinese culture.
In 2023, A Cat's Legend in the Forbidden City, adapted from a children's book and co produced by the Palace Museum, debuted in the CNTC.The play tells a heartwarming story of friendship and companionship, life and permanence through the perspective of a cat, with the aim of promoting the Palace Museum among young audiences.
The Palace Museum is a precious cultural heritage of humankind. How can we enable children to understand its essence and significance At least we can use a play to make people who have not been to the Palace Museum yearn to do so, and enable people who have visited it to reimagine its charm and cultural value. Though a play whose target audience is children may convey only a limited meaning, it can open a window through which they can find infinite spiritual treasures. A Cat's Legend in the Forbidden City brings to life China's profound culture for children.
In the AI era, youngsters, as well as adults, need to know why we are humans. A person should know “who she or he is” to find the meaning and value of life. As such, it is the responsibility of contemporary authors, playwrights, short story writers, and performing artists to spark children's curiosity about their origin through their works, so they can understand them in the cultural sense. Since youngsters are the future of humankind, they need to carry on the human spirit.
( D )4.Which of the following may account for the success of Three Monks
A.Its use of modern stage techniques.
B.The popularity of a physical drama.
C.The audience's preference for ancient stories.
D.Its novel reflection of the Chinese legend.

Ⅰ.阅读理解
[2026·临沂模拟] We humans tend to flock to natural spaces in search of peace and quiet. But what we often bring with us is noise: The noises of footsteps, bicycle wheels, and conversation.
Now a new study suggests this noise can have a lasting impact on wildlife. Human recreation has already been linked with trouble for wildlife in the form of increases in stress hormones, changes in habitat, and fewer offspring. But the authors of the new study wanted to understand more precisely how noise fits into this picture.
To explore this question, the team wired up a system of wildlife cameras and speakers on trails throughout Wyoming's Bridger Teton National Forest. When animals wandered into the study areas, the scientists triggered speakers to broadcast different types of noise, while the cameras filmed the animals' responses to the sounds.
The recorded noises included sounds associated with hiking, trail running, mountain biking, off road vehicles, and human voices. When the animals heard human recreation noise, they were two to three times more likely to bolt than when they heard natural sounds.
“The findings make a lot of sense,” says Zeller, who led the study. “Humans make a lot of noise; it can be soft, it can be loud, but it all adds up to noise. The louder and longer it is, the more frightened wildlife is of it. Separating humans from wildlife isn't the best solution.” An experiment showed that signs could have an impact—visitor noise levels dropped significantly after researchers placed signs that read “Quiet Zone”, or “Quiet Day”, and the number of birds in the designated area later increased.
“According to visitor surveys, when they embraced the silence, people found themselves listening to more birds and enjoying nature more,” says Zeller. “It also allowed park managers to increase the number of people who could use a given trail. When humans are made aware of their impacts, they can change their behavior, and that can impact wildlife.”
( D )1.What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A.Wild animals' behaviors.
B.The finding of the study.
C.Where the study was done.
D.How the study was conducted.
( C )2.What does the underlined word “bolt” in Paragraph 4 mean
A.Get together. B.Feel safe.
C.Run away. D.Stay behind.
( D )3.How can we protect wildlife most effectively from human noise according to Zeller
A.Use given trails in the wild.
B.Separate humans from wildlife.
C.Cut down on human recreation.
D.Realize our impacts on wildlife.
( A )4.In which magazine can we read this text
A.Nature Reports.
B.Popular Sports.

【文本大意】文章介绍了研究人员通过特定方式探索人类娱乐噪声对野生动物的影响和保护野生动物免受人类噪声影响的方法。
1.D 主旨大意题。根据第三段“To explore this question, the team wired up a system of wildlife cameras and speakers... while the cameras filmed the animals' responses to the sounds.(为了探索这个问题,研究小组在怀俄明州布里杰 提顿国家森林公园的小径上安装了一套野生动物摄像头和扬声器系统。当动物进入研究区域时,科学家们触发扬声器播放不同类型的噪声,同时用摄像头记录动物对声音的反应。)”可知,该段主要讲述了研究是如何进行的。故选D。
2.C 词义猜测题。根据画线词所在句“When the animals heard human recreation noise, they were two to three times more likely to bolt than when they heard natural sounds.(当动物听到人类娱乐噪声时,它们bolt的可能性是听到自然声音时的两到三倍。)”和第五段中的“The louder and longer it is, the more frightened wildlife is of it.(声音越大,时间越长,野生动物就越害怕。)”以及常识可知,动物听到人类娱乐噪声通常会害怕并逃跑。所以画线词“bolt”意为“逃跑”。故选C。
3.D 细节理解题。根据最后一段中Zeller说的话“When humans are made aware of their impacts, they can change their behavior, and that can impact wildlife.(当人类意识到自己的影响时,他们就可以改变自己的行为,这会对野生动物产生影响。)”可知,根据Zeller的说法,最有效地保护野生动物免受人类噪声影响的方法是意识到我们对野生动物的影响。故选D。
4.A 推理判断题。通读全文,尤其根据第二段中的“Now a new study suggests this noise can have a lasting impact on wildlife.(现在一项新的研究表明,这种噪声会对野生动物产生持久的影响。)”以及下文围绕人类噪声对野生动物的影响展开,介绍了相关科学研究的过程、发现及解决方案,涉及野生动物研究和保护,所以我们可以在《自然报告》杂志上读到这篇文章。故选A。

[2026·长沙模拟] For many of us, our closest encounter with wild animals is at a zoo. Zoos let us see amazing animals from big cats to tiny lizards, and what they are like. It's an enjoyable and educational experience for us, but is it the best environment for these animals
1. F Later on, live animals were captured by explorers, brought home and put on show to the public in menageries(动物园). 2. A Modern zoos, however, have transformed the living environments for animals, making bigger enclosures, removing bars, and to some extent, copying their natural habitats.
Some people have questioned the cruelty of keeping animals captive(圈养的) for entertainment, but zoos are keen to show that they help wildlife by educating people about conservation. In the UK, the introduction of the Zoo Licensing Act of 1981 required zoos to educate the public. 3. G
Probably the biggest claim from zoos today is that they help protect species in the wild that are under threat due to climate change. Robert Young, Chair in Wildlife Conservation at the University of Salford said, “There are quite a lot of different species around the planet which we wouldn't have today if it wasn't for zoos.” 4. E Chester Zoo was recently praised in the UK for its conservation work. It brought a rare fish species back from the dead after breeding and releasing a school of golden skiffia back into their native river.
5. D For instance, a virtual reality zoo enables the public to see rare animals and have amazing interactions. Jon Coe, a zoo designer, told the BBC, “Taking a walk through a herd of elephants in Serengeti National Park in Africa, I think, is going to be possible pretty soon.”
A.Animal welfare was not a priority.
B.Animal protection is becoming a global issue.
C.What we should do next is not to disturb wildlife.
D.New opportunities to meet wildlife are being explored.

3.G 根据上文“Some people have questioned the cruelty of keeping animals captive(圈养的) for entertainment, but zoos are keen to show that they help wildlife by educating people about conservation. In the UK, the introduction of the Zoo Licensing Act of 1981 required zoos to educate the public.(一些人质疑圈养动物进行娱乐的残忍性,但动物园热衷于通过教育人们保护野生动物来表明它们对野生动物的帮助。在英国,1981年《动物园许可法》的出台要求动物园对公众进行教育。)”可知,该空应该讲《动物园许可法》的颁布对动物园教育大众保护野生动物的积极影响,G项“从那时起,越来越多的动物园开始参与提高人们对野生动物保护的认识。”符合语境。故选G。
4.E 上文“Probably the biggest claim from zoos today is that they help protect species in the wild that are under threat due to climate change. Robert Young, Chair in Wildlife Conservation at the University of Salford said, ‘There are quite a lot of different species around the planet which we wouldn't have today if it wasn't for zoos.’(也许今天动物园最大的声明是,它们有助于保护因气候变化而受到威胁的野生物种。索尔福德大学野生动物保护主席Robert Young说:‘如果没有动物园,这个星球上有的很多不同的物种,今天都不会存在。’)”和下文“It brought a rare fish species back from the dead after breeding and releasing a school of golden skiffia back into their native river.(该动物园在繁殖并将一批金斯鳉放归本国河流后,将一种罕见的鱼类起死回生。)”可知,该空应承接上下文讲到关键信息——动物园保护濒危物种,E项“一些动物园有保护濒危物种的未来的计划。”符合语境。故选E。
5.D 该空位于段首,为段落主题句,起到引出下文的作用。根据下文“For instance, a virtual reality zoo enables the public to see rare animals and have amazing interactions. Jon Coe, a zoo designer, told the BBC, ‘Taking a walk through a herd of elephants in Serengeti National Park in Africa, I think, is going to be possible pretty soon.’(例如,虚拟现实动物园使公众能够看到稀有动物并进行令人惊叹的互动。动物园设计师Jon Coe告诉BBC:‘我认为,很快就有可能在非洲塞伦盖蒂国家公园的大象群中漫步。’)”可知,D项“正在探索与野生动物见面的新机会。”符合语境。故选D。

[2026·济南模拟] Samuel Osmond is a 19 year old law student from Cornwall, England. He never studied the piano. However, he can play very difficult musical pieces by musicians such as Chopin and Beethoven just a few minutes after he hears them. He learns a piece of music by listening to it in parts. Then he thinks about the notes in his head. Two years ago, he played his first piece Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. He surprised everyone around him.
Amazed that he remembered this long and difficult piece of music and played it perfectly, his teachers say Samuel is unbelievable. They say his ability is very rare, but Samuel doesn't even realize that what he can do is special. Samuel wanted to become a lawyer as it was the wish of his parents, but music teachers told him he should study music instead. Now, he studies law and music.
Samuel can't understand why everyone is so surprised. “I grew up with music. My mother played the piano and my father played the guitar. About two years ago, I suddenly decided to start playing the piano, without being able to read music and without having any lessons. It comes easily to me—I hear the notes and can bear them in mind—each and every note,” says Samuel.
Recently, Samuel performed a piece during a special event at his college. The piece had more than a thousand notes. The audience was impressed by his amazing performance. He is now learning a piece that is so difficult that many professional pianists can't play it. Samuel says confidently, “It's all about super memory—I guess I have that gift.”
However, Samuel's ability to remember things doesn't stop with music. His family says that even when he was a young boy, Samuel heard someone read a story, and then he could retell the story word for word.
Samuel is still only a teenager. He doesn't know what he wants to do in the future. For now, he is just happy to play beautiful music and continue his studies.

Hip hop started about 50 years ago as an escape from poverty and violence in Bronx, New York City. The music and style appealed to Black and Latino teenagers. As hip hop spread throughout New York, so did the culture.
People often mix up hip hop with rap. Rap is a musical style that combines quick recitation of rhymes with musical beats. But hip hop is more than just music. It is a culture, and rap music is one part of it. Hip hop also includes other activities, like breakdancing, disc jockeying and graffiti art. In his 1993 song Hip Hop vs. Rap, KRS One said, “Rap is something you do. Hip hop is something you live.” In the early days of hip hop, playing music on the streets or turning a basketball court into a dance floor may have seemed like a simple invitation to have fun and party. But it actually was an answer to social and economic injustice in poor neighborhoods. It was a way to show joy and imagination even without resources and wealth.
As hip hop and rap music grew into a force in American culture, entertainers used it to speak to their personal realities. In 1982, in the song The Message, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five criticized poverty and a lack of investment in Black communities. Several years later, Tupac Shakur complained about police violence in the song Changes. Today, hip hop's influence on music and other industries is so widespread that experts say it becomes difficult to measure.
There is also hip hop's influence on protest, resistance and political dissent(异议) around the world. From the Arab Spring and the Palestinian freedom fight to feminism and class struggles, rap music is a popular expression for calls to action. Music videos produced by artists in Africa, Europe, Asia and South America often include breakdancing, graffiti and other elements of hip hop.
“Hip hop took the chains off us and said, ‘No, we're gonna say it our way,’” Al Sharpton, American civil rights leader, said. “It was that freedom. It was that raw, non watered down kind of expression.”

[2026·温州模拟] For better or worse, many of us never forget those quintessentially British school days—and with a site that now boasts over 32,200 educational establishments as well as a growing number of users, you won't have to.
SchoolMates is a niche(小众的) networking platform which offers a refreshing alternative to traditional social media in that the focus is on building more meaningful relationships and encouraging interaction between users. While social media sites are customarily designed to form an interactive online community, SchoolMates aims to help people find friends from their past.
“At SchoolMates, our mission is simple. We've created a platform dedicated exclusively to helping people reconnect and keep in touch with former classmates,” explains founder and CEO Chris Goodwin, who lives in Derby.
SchoolMates brings together more than 32,000 schools, colleges, academies and universities across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Aimed at the 35 plus age group, which represents 50% of the population, the easy to use website enables users to reminisce(回忆) and share conversations, jokes, stories, memories and photographs.
SchoolMates is a dream come true for Chris, who was diagnosed with a tumor at the age of 18, which left him paralyzed and wheelchair bound.
Having had an ambition to conquer the world of the Internet and own a successful online business since completing his studies in computer science, he did not let his disability become an excuse to give up on his dreams; he had a successful business career before going on to launch SchoolMates.
“I never wanted my disability to be an excuse for giving up on my dreams,” says Chris. In fact, if anything, it motivated him even more and drove him to achieve his goal of launching SchoolMates. “With social connectivity at an all time high, many users are tracking down and connecting with people again from their pasts. [2026·九江模拟] Writer's block doesn't discriminate. From fresh faced novelists to literary legends, this creative paralysis(瘫痪) has universally troubled giants throughout history. Maya Angelou experienced it. George R.R. Martin battled it. And in today's world of endless scrolling(刷屏) and information overload, we're facing a creativity crisis like never before.
This crisis has shifted dramatically in recent years. Today's writers aren't just battling their self doubt but also an attention economy that has turned distraction into a powerful tool. Every message, every scroll or every like represents a potential distraction of the creative process. Yet writers are fighting back, and they're winning with strategies that redefine our understanding of creative blocks.
To regain their creative flow, writers are adopting innovative solutions. Some turn back to old fashioned typewriters, avoiding digital distractions through physical typing. Others use VR to create distraction free virtual spaces. Changing environments, physical or digital, helps break negative patterns and spark creativity. Another emerging trend is the rise of writing collectives, such as The Midnight Oil Collective, which combine cognitive behavioral strategies, timed writing sessions and peer accountability(问责) to overcome blocks and boost productivity.
The message from this creative revival is clear: Writer's block isn't a creative death sentence—it's a challenge to be overcome with the right tools and support. The block itself isn't the enemy; it's simply a signal that something in the approach needs to change. Whether the change involves adopting old fashioned technology, diving into VR or joining a writing collective, today's writers are proving that creativity can't be permanently blocked—it just needs new channels to flow through.
In this era of constant distraction and information overload, the solutions to writer's block are evolving as rapidly as the challenges. The key lies not in fighting the block head on, but in finding new pathways around it. As technology continues to advance and our understanding of creative psychology deepens, the tools for breaking through creative paralysis will only become more advanced and effective.
( C )5.What makes today's creativity crisis unique
A.Less reader interest.

C.They simplify writers' editing.
D.They minimize digital distractions.
( A )7.What can be inferred about writer's block in Paragraph 4

( D )8.What's the author's attitude to overcoming writer's block

6.D 细节理解题。根据第三段第二句“Some turn back to old fashioned typewriters, avoiding digital distractions through physical typing.(一些人重新使用老式打字机,通过物理打字避免数字干扰。)”可知,一些作家更喜欢打字机是因为它们能将数字干扰降至最低。故选D。
7.A 推理判断题。根据第四段中的“The message from this creative revival is clear: Writer's block isn't a creative death sentence—it's a challenge to be overcome with the right tools and support. 8.D 推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“As technology continues to advance and our understanding of creative psychology deepens, the tools for breaking through creative paralysis will only become more advanced and effective.(随着技术不断进步以及我们对创作心理学的理解不断加深,突破创作瘫痪的工具只会变得更加先进和有效。)”可知,作者认为随着各种条件的发展,突破创作瓶颈的方法会越来越好,所以作者对克服创作瓶颈持坚定乐观的态度。故选D。

( )1.What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A.Wild animals' behaviors.
B.The finding of the study.

D.How the study was conducted.
( )2.What does the underlined word “bolt” in Paragraph 4 mean
A.Get together. B.Feel safe.

( )3.How can we protect wildlife most effectively from human noise according to Zeller
A.Use given trails in the wild.
B.Separate humans from wildlife.
C.Cut down on human recreation.
D.Realize our impacts on wildlife.
( )4.In which magazine can we read this text
A.Nature Reports.

[2026·长沙模拟] For many of us, our closest encounter with wild animals is at a zoo. Zoos let us see amazing animals from big cats to tiny lizards, and what they are like. It's an enjoyable and educational experience for us, but is it the best environment for these animals
1. Later on, live animals were captured by explorers, brought home and put on show to the public in menageries(动物园). 2. Modern zoos, however, have transformed the living environments for animals, making bigger enclosures, removing bars, and to some extent, copying their natural habitats.
Some people have questioned the cruelty of keeping animals captive(圈养的) for entertainment, but zoos are keen to show that they help wildlife by educating people about conservation. In the UK, the introduction of the Zoo Licensing Act of 1981 required zoos to educate the public. 3.

C.They simplify writers' editing.
D.They minimize digital distractions.
