I felt my face turn red. All my 29 was for nothing! “Next time,” I said, “just tell me you’re busy with something good. I’d rather know a little than imagine the worst.”
Leo smiled. “I will. Friends shouldn’t let each other 30 alone in silence.”
We walked to the basketball court together, and the weight in my heart finally lifted.

Mary Lennox was a girl from India. She was often ill and bad-tempered. Nobody liked her very much. One day, a terrible illness killed her parents. Mary was sent to England to live with her uncle in a big old house.
The house stood on a large open piece of land. The wind was always strong and cold. Mary was told she must stay in her room and not walk around freely.
But Mary was curious. One night, she heard someone crying in the big house. The next day, she went to find out who it was. She walked down long halls and up stairs. Finally, she opened a door and saw a boy sitting on the floor.

A Click Away from the World
In the past, seeing the world meant taking long trips by plane or train. But today, the internet lets us reach faraway places from home. 46 By December 2025, China had over 1.1 billion internet users, and more than 80% of the population was online. The world is now truly just a click away.
47 You can “walk” through the Palace Museum in Beijing and zoom in on ancient treasures. The “Digital Dunhuang” project lets you visit the 1,400-year-old Mogao Caves online. You can move around freely and admire the beautiful wall paintings up close. Millions of people visit these virtual caves every year.
The internet connects us with more than just places. 48 In 2025, over 500 million Chinese people booked travel online. During the 2026 Spring Festival, a 16-hour global live broadcast connected more than 30 cities. People shared their food, music, and traditions in real time. It felt like the whole world was celebrating together.
Of course, the online world has its dangers. 49 False news and cyberbullying (网络欺凌) can cause real harm. Learning to use the internet safely is an important skill for everyone.
In a word, the internet opens a magic window to the world. 50 So next time you want an adventure, why not start with a click
A.It also brings people and different cultures closer.
B.With just one click, you can experience the wonders of the world online.
C.Virtual museums are a great example of this.
D.If we use it wisely, it can make our lives much more convenient.

Xinjiang is home to some of China’s most beautiful attractions. Here are three places you should not miss.
Heavenly Lake of Tianshan
Heavenly Lake, or “Tianchi,” lies about 100 kilometers east of Urumqi. It sits in the Tianshan Mountains and is in the shape of a half-moon. The lake’s clear water reflects the snowy mountains around it. In summer, visitors enjoy hiking and boat rides. In winter, the frozen lake becomes a world of blue ice.
Kanas Lake
Kanas Lake is in northern Xinjiang. It is famous for its changing colors — sometimes green, sometimes blue. The lake is surrounded by thick forests and snowy mountains. Visitors love to hike the “Three Bays” — Fairy Bay, Moon Bay, and Sleeping Dragon Bay. A local legend says a “lake monster” lives deep in the water.
Kashgar Old City
Kashgar Old City is a living museum of Silk Road history. Walking through its narrow streets, you can see traditional houses with woodcarvings and colorful doors.
