The Cat in Vietnam's Zodiac
In the Chinese zodiac, there is no cat. But in Vietnam （越南）,the cat takes the rabbit's place. Let's learn about why Vietnam celebrates the “Year of the Cat”.
One reason（原因）is about language.The Chinese word for "rabbit”,"mao tu”, sounds like the Vietnamese word for"cat". So when the zodiac reached Vietnam,the rabbit became a cat.
Another reason is the environment. Vietnam is warm with many jungles, which are better for cats than for rabbits. Vietnamese people know cats very well.
