Li Yanhe is a common villager from Jingyuan County, Baiyin City, Gansu Province. He is not rich or famous,
but he has become a hero in people’s hearts because of his brave and kind acts.
On a cold late autumn day in 2015, a boy fell into a river. His grandfather jumped into the river to save him but
soon got into danger too. Li Yanhe was fishing nearby. When he heard the cry for help, he ran to the river at once.
Without taking off his clothes, he jumped into the cold water without thinking twice. The water was icy and ran
fast, but he tried his best to swim to the two people. He first saved the boy and then went back to save the
grandfather. He was tired and cold, but he did not stop. After pulling them to the bank, he gave first aid to the old
man.
This was not the first time for Li Yanhe to save others. In 2002, he also jumped into the river and saved one
person. In all, he has saved three lives in two accidents.
Li Yanhe never asks for anything in return. He just does what he thinks is right. He keeps helping people in
