Hi, everyone! I am Li Hua from Class 3. I firmly believe that AI-generated paintings should be recognized as a new form of art, which is simply the next step in the creative evolution.
As is widely acknowledged, art has always developed with technology, from oil paints to digital tools. With the various applications of AI technology, paintings are able to demonstrate more remarkable creativity than ever before. By analyzing thousands of artworks, AI produces original pieces that can stir up deep emotions, just like human-created art does. Many galleries now exhibit AI artworks, proving its artistic value.
In brief, AI painting can be considered as art, allowing people to explore greater potential.

I stood there, holding the box with the cocoons. “We have to save The Furies, Mom. And her garden,” Leo said, pointing to the now-unlocked gate of the community garden. I decided to take Leo’s words to heart and stepped into Mrs. Gable’s garden for the first time. We found the bush with the fuzzy leaves and carefully placed the cocoons among the branches. Every few days, we’d water the roses and pull out the weeds. As time went by, more and more neighbors came to help.
A few months later, a letter arrived from Mrs. Gable, along with a packet of seeds. “For the boy who loves bugs,” the familiar handwriting began. “I heard you’ve been looking after my roses. Thank you. These seeds are for a butterfly bush. I think it will suit the garden better.” Leo held the packet as if it were treasure. We planted the seeds together with the neighbors, and the garden bloomed with new life. What had once been a forbidden place came alive as a shared labor of love, blooming not just with flowers, but with the quiet, enduring bond between the community.2025-2026学年河南省叶县高级中学高二下学期期末6月英语考试

Whether you are writing a business email or a long research essay, the dictionary can be a powerful tool to assist you in becoming a better writer in English.
You can use the main A-Z of the dictionary to help you:
Choose your words carefully. Many words in English have similar or related meanings, but they are used in different contexts or situations. Look carefully at the example sentences provided in the entries for words you want to use. If you need academic vocabulary, look for the AW symbol.
Combine words naturally and effectively. In English, certain pairs of words go together and sound natural to native speakers (for example, heavy rain) — and others do not (strong rain). Information on which words can be paired with one another can be found in the example sentences in the dictionary entries.
Become more flexible. Rather than repeating the same word or phrase many times in your work, try to find other ways to express your ideas. Look for SYN symbol to find synonyms(同义词) and also study the synonym notes. Look for word families and try using words in the same family that are different parts of speech (e.g. different, adjective and differ, verb).
Edit and check your work. You can use your dictionary to check any problem areas such as spelling, parts of speech, irregular forms, grammar, phrasal verbs, and prepositions.
In the following sections you will find examples of essays and practical types of writing that you can use as models for your own work. You will also find advice on planning, organizing and writing each type of text.

Earlier in his advertising career, McCann global CEO Tyler Turnbull worked for Canadian telecom firm Rogers. “They were one of those clients that you love or hate,” he recalled. “I loved them because you got to do so much work — it was stressful and 24/7.”
The office is not the only place where Turnbull appreciates a challenge that pushes his skills to the limit. On weekends during the winter, you’ll find him on the mountains of Ontario. He skied two days a week and kept up the hobby all over the world, from France to Italy to Alberta’s Banff National Park.
Now a dad himself, Turnbull has continued the skiing tradition with his kids, 11 and 9, beginning when they were preschoolers. But sticking with the sport has helped the Turnbull family bond over not just the excitement of skiing down a mountain, but during the chairlift ride up. “It’s a one-to-one time, no digital devices. We have lots of good, uninterrupted time.”
On Saturday mornings from November to March, both of his kids attended competitive programs, which inspired Turnbull and the other parents to hire their own instructor for two-hour Dad Park Lessons. Going strong for five years now, the dads train in freestyle skiing, which essentially turns a mountain into a skate park: large-scale jumps, boxes and other obstacles.
While Turnbull believes in the value of being uncomfortable in the service of progress, whether in his career or on the slopes ( 滑雪坡), the challenge isn’t always about finding a mountain that’s higher or sharper. To him, there’s value in making the same journey again and again. “If you’re skiing the same run every day for 20 years, it’s different every time based on the conditions,” he said, a reminder to stay alert and adaptable.
Turnbull also sets a goal for each run by asking himself, “What am I going for ” Whether it’s seeing how fast he can get to the bottom, fitting in a certain number of turns, which jump to hit, whether to dip into a set of trees — the terrain is familiar, yet new. “You can make the most of any situation, just by what you’re willing to try and do.”
24. What can be concluded about Turnbull’s work for Rogers
A. It showed a balanced office culture
B. It allowed flexible working hours.
C. It emphasized physical strength.
D. It required full commitment.
25. What impact does skiing have on Turnbull’s family
A. It deepens family connection. B. It bridges generation gap.
C. It weakens digital competence. D. It eases preschool anxiety.
26. What does Turnbull value most when skiing the same run repeatedly
A. Setting a higher career goal.
B. Keeping cautious and flexible.
C. Fueling efficiency in discomfort.
D. Shaping character in new conditions.
27. Which of the following best describes Turnbull
A. Innovative. B. Learned. C. Reflective. D. Reserved.
C
Imagine that you’re judging a writing contest. If someone used an artificial intelligence model to write an entry, that shouldn’t count. But how can you tell whether something was written by AI or not Chengzhi Mao and his colleagues designed Raidar, a tool to detect bot-written text.
Mao regularly uses ChatGPT to polish his own writing. He notices that the bot (自动程序) can do a pretty good job the first time it rewrites something that he wrote. But if he asks it to improve an email again — revising its own bot writing — then it won’t change much. He realizes the number of edits (编辑) a bot makes to a piece of writing might say something about how the original text got written.
Mao’s team gathered writing samples from people and chatbots and had several AI models rewrite all the human-written and AI-generated samples. They then used a program to count the number of changes between the original and edited versions. Based on that, they sorted writing samples into human-generated and AI-generated, and compared their results with those of Raidar to see how well Raidar worked.
“It’s a pretty neat idea,” says Amrita Bhattacharjee, a PhD student. “Nobody had thought of this before.” She has researched AI-generated text detection, but wasn’t involved in developing Raidar.
Mao’s team is working to make Raider an online tool that everyone can use. When it’s done, people could send texts and find out if they are likely AI-generated. For instance, a teacher could ask any chatbot to rewrite a student’s work. If the bot makes very few edits, that could be a red flag. But Bhattacharjee notes that teachers shouldn’t take action based on Raidar’s output alone. “The final judgment should not be based entirely on Raidar,” she argues. “It cannot guarantee 100 percent accuracy and students may have good reasons to use AI, like cleaning up spelling mistakes.”
28. What’s the function of Raidar
A. Detecting spelling mistakes in human-written texts.
B. Identifying content likely produced by an AI model.
C. Analyzing the characteristics of bot-written writings.
D. Judging the submitted entries in the writing contests.
29. Which might be Raidar’s working principle
A. Figuring out differences of writing styles. B. Analyzing the original and rewritten texts.
C. Comparing the number of edits AI makes. D. Rewriting the texts sent by the researchers.
30. What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A. How Raidar was tested. B. How Raidar was invented.
C. How Raidar was improved. D. How Raidar was programmed.
31. How does Bhattacharjee feel about Raidar
A. Beneficial but comparably costly. B. Precious but slightly unnecessary.
C. Competent but somewhat complex. D. Innovative but sometimes inaccurate.
D
If you were to walk through each of the Louvre’s 400 galleries (展厅), you would cover about 14.5 km. Stop to look at each artwork for 15 seconds, and you would be there for about 145 hours. As a result, few of the nearly 9 million people who visit the Louvre each year leave feeling as if they have truly mastered it.
Elaine Sciolino, formerly the leader of The New York Times, has volunteered herself as a tour guide. In the book Adventures in the Louvre, she does not try to take readers through every room or write the museum’s long and colorful history. Instead, she focuses on central topics and small details that will interest them.
The writer has a reporter’s knack for raising a good question. Of all the faces in the Louvre, “Who is the fairest one of all ” she asks Sébastien Allard, director of paintings, who offers five suggestions (by Jacques-Louis David, Rembrandt, Pisanello, Titian and Johannes Vermeer). Many Louvre workers think the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, the world’s most famous artwork, is not as good as people say. Yet around four-fifths of visitors come mainly to see it and pay little attention to other treasures.
Even people who understand the collection well can still learn something. For example, about 1,700 works have “mnr” on their labels (标签), which stands for Musées Nationaux Récupération, or National Museums Recovery. That means they are looked after by the Louvre but aren’t part of its collection.
For the Louvre, history ended in 1848 — later masterpieces are in France’s other national museums — but its change continues. Recently French government started a renovation (翻新) costing $800m-900m, which would, among other things, give the Mona Lisa her own gallery. Visitors will have even more need of a knowledgeable guide.
32. Why does the author list the numbers in paragraph 1
A. To prove the value of artworks.
B. To recommend the best tour path.
C. To show the large size of the Louvre.
D. To stress the speed of viewing artworks.
33. What does the book Adventures in the Louvre focus on
A. Every room of the Louvre.
B. The long history of the Louvre.
C. Well-known artworks in the Louvre.
D. Specific topics and details in the Louvre.
34. What does the underlined word “knack” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Hobby. B. Skill. C. Task. D. Chance.
35. What is the best title for the text
A. The Mona Lisa: A Perfect Work
B. The Louvre: Facts You May Not Know
C. The Mona Lisa: The Star of the Louvre
D. The Louvre: A Must-Visit for Art Lovers

For years, the old community garden behind our apartment building had been Mrs. Gable’s pride and joy. She was the self-appointed guardian of the small plot of land, where she grew roses that were the envy of the neighborhood.
Every morning, she would be there, weeding, watering, and chasing away any child who dared to kick a ball too close to her flowers. To the kids in the neighborhood, she was “the garden witch (女巫),” and her area of green was strictly off-limits.
I had just moved into the building with my six-year-old son, Leo, who was crazy about insects. One afternoon, he came running to me with his eyes wide. “Mom! There’s a bush with the biggest, furriest caterpillars (毛毛虫) I’ve ever seen! But it’s behind the fence,” he said, pointing towards Mrs. Gable’s garden. I told him it was private property and we had to respect it. He nodded, but I could see the disappointment in his face.
A few days later, I was surprised to find a small cardboard box on our doorstep. Inside were a few leaves with three fat caterpillars crawling on them. A handwritten note was taped to the lid: “For the boy who loves bugs. Tell him to bring them back when they make their cocoons (茧). — M. Gable.” Leo was overjoyed. He named them “The Furies” and watched them every day.
Weeks later, the caterpillars had indeed formed cocoons. Leo was eager to return them to the bush, but when we knocked on Mrs. Gable’s door, there was no answer. We left a note saying we’d bring them back the next day. However, the next morning, we saw a moving truck parked outside her apartment.
A neighbor informed us that Mrs. Gable had had a sudden fall and had gone to live with her daughter in another city. She had left in a hurry, leaving instructions for the apartment and garden to be taken care of.

1.续写词数应为 150 左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I stood there, holding the box with the cocoons.
